I liked when he talked about how each idividual company does things differently. Some things they do well and other things, not so much...

- "Like actually building a machine and bringing it to market?"

That was the followup question that was missing, right there.

Instead of sending a deposit to an artist who is never going to produce a game, I can now send my money to a Lawyer who swears he will produce the world's greatest ever pinball game?

Where do I sign up? And can I pay in full?

#14546 3 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

Quoting Robert

On deposits
>Any money that is coming in from customers right now in full payments or deposits is being held in an account.

Al Gore has a Lockbox they can use.

#14554 3 years ago
Quoted from MythMaker:

I would be much more comfortable with this statement if the funds were truly going into a 3rd party escrow account with the terms and release conditions fully outlined.

Funny that, huh?

Anyone interacting them is wrapped in signed, notarized paper but their non-refundable, non-deposits are expected to be tendered wrapped only in good faith.

#14573 3 years ago
Quoted from dc2010:

There is no line currently

Another Industry First!

Who needs a production line when you've got...

Innovation.

#14594 3 years ago
Quoted from Mercifull:

And maybe... maybe he really does just want to keep the manufacturing a trade secret.

This is a good point. If they let their secrets out, ANYONE could break into the lucritive Pinball market to NOT MAKE machines.
This would be a nightmare for a small company that is trying to build a niche by not manufacturing a product.

It would certainly drive down profits for DR.

#14693 3 years ago
Quoted from Makakka:

LEZLE has 21 shots AIQLE has 18

Innovators don't count shots.

#15652 3 years ago
Quoted from hank527:

160 games is pathetic for how much they spent. It is a no win moving forward with these lethargic numbers.

You aren't considering the pre-orders they may have for Food Truck.

#15870 3 years ago

Do you want INNOVATION or do you want to count pennies?

#15890 3 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

I was trying to remember where the current goal posts are. Reposting for clarity.

How can you put a Deadline on INNOVATION?

#15928 3 years ago
Quoted from Scandell:

“A sewer” is one the many degrading terms I’ve heard Robert use regarding Pinsiders. And one of the more mild insults.

That's ripe coming from a lawyer.

#15948 3 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

You do realize there's a pretty good chance they don't end up making ANY games right?

Who needs actual Gameplay when you have INNOVATION?

1 month later
#17478 3 years ago

The problem really is that Pinball is TOO easy.

No challenge.

They just probably got bored knocking it out of the park.

Quad Assembly Response : Dynamic Word Salad with Throttle Fluctuation Dressing

#17686 3 years ago
Quoted from pookycade:

If I threw words into a blender I couldn’t come up with a more non-sensical and meaningless series of sentences than that.

Once you can stop laughing at it you will get the sadz from the realization that we are all dumber for having read it.

#17780 3 years ago

I've been thinking...

Innovating, really :

Maybe they are going to realize mass savings by not having a production line at all?

Instead. They will load a Technician inside every Pin Pod.
Ship them, together with all of the parts it takes to build your RAZA.
... and you simply have to mail the Technician back (in a prepaid envelope) when your fully assembled and tested RAZA arrives at your door.

We may joke about it. But, Pinball Innovation really is easy.

#17818 3 years ago
Quoted from Zablon:

That just leaves DR to at least show something right?

Oh. They are showing us something...

#17940 2 years ago
Quoted from MythMaker:Also very surprised they are creating two versions of the pinbar / lock down bar mech and two versions of the back box design. Seems like added complexity to make different versions of the game this early in the run. Hard enough getting the parts in and building a single version of a game.

Apparently it is hard enough for them to build just 1 actual machine.

#17942 2 years ago
Quoted from wcbrandes:

Maybe this is a little embarrassing for Deep poop?
[quoted image]

Alien Bros. first mistake was not employing OctoManufacturing.

A Lawyer, an Idea Man and an Atomic Zombie walk into a PinBar...

stop me if you have heard this one, already.

Seriously, though. Maybe DR should look into starting a school for Pinball Design, Development and Manufacture?

They already have the cafeteria.

Quoted from trueno92:

You need to reach out to Kaneda

I think you mean Reach Around...

this is Kaneda you are talking about.

#18258 2 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

Haha that's the same phrase that got Robert's knickers in a knot nearly two years ago.

With that guy, it's more like a Turd (in the hand...).

#18290 2 years ago

Is Plot Twist another DR Title scheduled for this year, like Food Truck?

#18348 2 years ago

It is Officially Mid-May.

If the Lottery is a Tax on the Stupid...what is DR?

#18993 2 years ago

I could see Wind Farm outselling Food Truck.

#19016 2 years ago

Even cocaine can't keep John Favreau thin.

#19116 2 years ago

They should auction off a choice of a Spot in Line, or a Deposit Refund. Winner's choice.

#19120 2 years ago
Quoted from c508:

I completely forgot about the “5 Days of Deeproot”!

5 Days is simply too much innovation.

I can handle 2. Maybe 3 days of innovation. Tops.

#19222 2 years ago
Quoted from denoument:

I thought this was a deeproot thread...

Good point.

However. This IS a Pinball Forum.
And, to date, Deeproot has not produced any pinball machines.

So.

I will allow it.

#19223 2 years ago

Doubled up.

DR : Sucking at Pinball is Easy

#19407 2 years ago
Quoted from NoQuarters:

Easy folks - update should be coming soon, just maybe it will be good news

PinPods are almost ready to Ship!?

#19426 2 years ago

I think the more important distinction is that the airplane in Spooky's machine is going inside an actual production Pinball Machine.

#19453 2 years ago
Quoted from jeffgoldstein2:

Deeproot sold 122 Raza machines in a few weeks.

That remains to be seen, really.

I bet they kill it with Food Truck, though.

#19508 2 years ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

haven't heard back from the guy who was trying to get an assembler job there but dr wasn't returning his messages.

Dissembling is the only thing going on at DR.

#19559 2 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

AP picks terrible themes. Oktoberfest, where's the wish fulfillment? Anybody can go get drunk.... Who cares?
Hot Wheels... Your target demo has sports cars in their garage. They aren't 8 year old boys wishing they had a license.
Any game, movie etc needs to fulfill a fantasy.

Can't say I agree with this at all.
Oktoberfest is a fun shooter, as is Houdini.
Wish I had a chance to flip on a Hot Wheels and they all represent great values on the Pinball Market when compared with current pricing / availabilty.

Also, don't really understand the whole Wish Fulfillment thing...unless you are talking best songs on Dirty by Sonic Youth.

#19576 2 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

Houdini is a terrible shooter.

I don't know. Maybe try to suck less? At pinball. The one at my local shoots great.

#19630 2 years ago
Quoted from jawjaw:You could also argue pinball doesn't need good artwork

Not successfully.

#19648 2 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

Back to deeproot: I think it was a mistake to invest so much in "disney quality art" and then put such a small display on the machines.

What Machines?

#19655 2 years ago
Quoted from iceman44:

A car update is coming this week!

I am hoping for one with a Food Truck in the lot!

#19710 2 years ago
Quoted from ufotofu:

Apparently the ability to lift/move 25 lbs is a requirement for their Senior Software Engineer job-

Pikers.

Robert moves more bullshit than that every time he posts an update.

#19756 2 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

I mean, if they actually make RAZA, it would give people confidence for Goonies, a game people ACTUALLY WANT.

Can't think of a single Pinhead I know who would want a Goonies machine. Can't understand the thought that one would be anything but a dud as far as sales goes.

#19767 2 years ago
Quoted from Zablon:

It would sell more than Ultraman.

Would it sell more than Scooby Doo?

Quoted from Haymaker:

lol you're laughably wrong about this

Well, I don't think it would even scratch the ST sales numbers. And I don't think Stern was pleased with their sales on those things.

#20422 2 years ago
Quoted from Richthofen:

Nah, I just hate the guy. He tried to ruin NYCPC women’s event and threw a drink in Tim Sextons face. Fuck that poser, he’s an asshole and isn’t really interested in pinball as much as he’s interested in getting attention focused on himself.

Also. Dollars to dumuts. That guy bleaches his anus.

When's the next Parking Lot Update?

#20794 2 years ago
Quoted from Honch:At least you got to be incorporated into some cool artwork

Not to mention the Toupee...you can barely tell.

#21609 2 years ago

I wonder if Quad Bankruptcy is as streamlined as Quad Manufacturing?

3 weeks later
#24851 2 years ago
Quoted from Richthofen:

Imagine blowing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on machines that might make, what, optimistically, 5,000 boards a year?

Considering they never made an actual production machine...
Yeah. That's pretty optimistic.
