Quoted from highdef:

As of right now, they've lost at least $0.20 to every dollar, so multiply that by 8500. It's a loss of $1,700-$1,800 PER GAME.

You are kidding, right? Because this is the exact opposite. They make more money for games sold in the US than expected. Price for US customers is in US dollars. So they were suppose to earn $8,000 (or $8,500, can't remember) / 1.36, and now /1.11...when translated in euros.

/ stands for "divided by". Dividing by 1.36 gives a lower figure than dividing by 1.11...

Quoted from JoshODBrown:

I hope to get to play it again some day!

Thanks for sharing - perhaps the most convincing TBL video I have seen so far. Most shots feel satisfying - as if I could enjoy the spinner myself just by watching. Good to see the rug working. The rules seem straightforward, which is a good thing (settings for each character seemed relatively easy, right?). Videos are very helpful and well integrated. Congrats to all achievers!

Quoted from highdef:

I never thought Alien (or even Magic Girl) would ship before TBL preorders.

Neither have shipped before the first batch of TBL.

(Not trying to find an excuse for DP)

Quoted from Zitt:

2) The Euro has fallen w/ respect to the USD due to Brexit. This has put materials purchased from the non-Euro market at a much worse situation. Instead of the Euro being 1.5x a USD... its more like 1.05 now... so they aren't getting "Free money" to purchase things using the power of the Euro.

The change in exchange rate affects DP in two opposite ways:
- it does increase the BOM as most of the parts are probably billed in $
- it also increases the revenue from US customers as you pay in $

The net result depends if most US pre-buyers have already paid in full, or if there is still a fair fraction to collect.
$8,500 meant 6,115 euros in 2014 (highest was € = 1.39$; see graph below)
$8,500 means 8,018 euros now (€ = 1.06$)
So... 1900 euros (close to $2k) extra revenue for DP, assuming paiement is made in full now.

Moderation notice:
I understand this is a sensitive topic.
But try to keep this discussion civil, thanks.

Quoted from Rensh:

Got to play a captain Nemo further today, sn 3. Ordered 5 years ago and delivered some weeks ago. So it proofs it can still happen !!

Cool! Welcome to the Nemo's owner club (all 3 posted in this thread!).

It happened because Antonio accepted to lose some money and a lot of time. By assembling his games (at least the ones for Europe) himself in his garage he kept overheads to a minimum. The model works for very small production runs, but can't be viable for 300.

Quoted from RTR:

So any possible solutions would need to begin with a trusted 3rd party, preferably someone in the pinball community with an accounting and/or legal background to review DP's books and contracts and then reporting back. Sort of a legal/accounting version of their "Roger Sharpe" moment.

I like this option. Would Roger Sharpe be willing to help them again? That would be a good start.

Quoted from TomDK:

Ahhh ... made in the US is now a guaratee for delivery and no risk on pre-order !
Good to know

Lol. We all enjoyed the risk-free, US-based, Skit-B, Zidware (and even Vonnie-D) companies.
Anyone wants my Predator spot?

More seriously, risk associated with Spooky or CGC is indeed very low.

Quoted from Rensh:

JPOP now convicted?

Not sure "convicted" is the right term? He lost a civil case against 26(?) Zidware customers, and has to pay them. But this was not a criminal case, AFAIK.

These European holidays are absolutely absurd!!!

Don't make hasty generalizations. I am on holidays from August 2 to August 12... (but I can't help with DP/ARA)
