Quoted from heni1977:

Anyone else turn there shaker motor all the way up?

I turned the shaker motor all the way up and played a few games with it on 'Extreme Mode'. It felt like holding a jackhammer in your hands. Not sure on how this will affect the connections over time so I turned it back down to High and play on that setting.

Quoted from joseph5185:

The ship one is "easy." Simply, tighten down the upper right ramp screw near the ship. It's sitting on a pressure washer and once tightened enough, it will create the angle so that the ball cannot get stuck.

Can you post a picture of the screw you are referencing?

Quoted from joseph5185:

Sure. Sorry. I tried to be specific, but it's definitely kinda hidden. [quoted image]

Very helpful, Thank you!

BTW, LE#39 joining the club! Arrr...

Quoted from drewski28:

Just curious, is there any point value assigned to getting the "666666" (all six multiballs running at the same time)? With as hard as it is to get and maintain, seems like something major should happen. My thought was you get 666,666 points or something.

Not sure what the scoring total was during the 6MBs at once, but this video shows them in action. The overall game score ended up at 982,909 from my 9-year old who took over and finished my game.

Closing in on post #10,000 on this topic. I remember when I first started following it in Dec when I got my machine I think the topic had about 25-30 pages and something like 1,300-1,400 posts. Who’s going to be the author of post #10,000?

Probably that dude with the Yoda avatar picture out of North Carolina...

I'm having an issue with my upper left black pearl flipper getting stuck in the hold position and won't release. I rebuilt the flipper with new coil stop, plunger, coil sleeve, spring, etc. but that hasn't done anything. I'm thinking it's something electrical but don't know where to start the troubleshooting process on that. Coil gets really hot to the touch. The flipper will release when power is turned off or coin door is opened. Pictures are attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quoted from LTG:

Check it's drive transistor.
LTG : )

How do I check it's drive transistor? Any pictures or tutorials you could point me to?

#13436 4 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Coil looks burned. Either bad coil or bad transistor. Check the transistor and the resistance on the coil.

Resistance on coil is:

7.3 | 155.4 on the left coil
7.2 | 159.4 on the right coil

Guess it's the transistor then, correct?

I've never tested a transistor before. Is it any more difficult than testing coil resistance?

#13456 4 years ago
Quoted from Mikespinball:

I would say it's the transistor as I just had this same issue happen to mine. It was the hold transistor for the coil and was shorted out. Bought new transistor from Great Plains Electronics. I bought 10 as they are very reasonably priced and you never know when you might need another one.

Q407 is the BP Left Flipper hold, was that the same one that shorted on yours? Anyone in the Boone, NC area that can make a house call to replace a transistor? If not, any recommendations on who to send the board to?

LTG is this something that would be covered by JJP under warranty? I'm the first and only owner and less than a year since purchase.

#13495 4 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Machine would ignore an EOS stuck closed or not closing.
LTG : )

Quoted from GnarLee:

Um no. Call jjp and make them send you new board, coil and anything else needed for repair

I'm out of town and can't access my machine right now and trying to work with JJP to get a replacement I/O board. They're asking me to check my contacts on the flipper button in that there are two stages to the flippers. If the flipper button is pushed in halfway it only activates the bottom flippers, pushed in all the way it activates all flippers. JJP thinks my left flipper contact is stuck closed and causing the hold flipper issue on the black pearl. Has anyone experienced this before?

Could someone please check to see if your left flipper button is pushed in half way does it activate the upper left flipper (one by the bayou)?

Could anyone post a picture of the left flipper button inside the cabinet?

#13498 4 years ago
Quoted from GnarLee:

You flipper Button’s are 2 stage. Half press and only the bottoms will fire. Full press and the top 3 will fire also. Being it is the left one wouldn’t your inner loop flipper have fried also if the contact was stuck?

Exactly what I was thinking and it doesn't.

#13501 4 years ago

Not necessary. Look at the right side flipper button leaf blade switches. Same set up.
LTG : )

Won't be back in front of my machine for several days was just curious to see a picture if anyone had one.

#13503 4 years ago
Quoted from Mikespinball:

First picture, left side second is right, but as we discussed before, it appears to be the transistor. Again this was my issue also and the transistor was what failed. Call me if you want to discuss further and I can help you. Mike

Thanks Mike. It's definitely the transistor. Good thing this beauty is still under warranty. Now just need JJP to ship me a warranty replacement I/O board.

Permission to board...

I fell off the ship a few years ago but am back in the club today. Have to get the backbox lights fixed and a few other minor tweaks but she's a real beaut.

Quoted from LesManley:

I am part embarrassed and part beyond thrilled to say that after honestly years of owning the chest opening mod and never being able to get it to work that tonight, I finally got it working. I owe my renewed interest in it to my Secret Santa who gave me the dauntless dress up kit and the the light up back glass mod for presents. After installing those I just told myself I have to get this to work to finally make it complete. The mod is so so good.
[quoted image]

I had the chest mod installed on my original Pirates, it was a complete pain in the ass to install. Now that I'm back in the club, I have the chest mod that came with the deal, but it's not installed. Question is, should I do the install or leave it???

I've actually been enjoying not having the lid closed so I can constantly see how many balls are locked.....Or, maybe I'm just convincing myself not to install the pain in the ass chest mod no matter how cool it really is. ***sigh***

Quoted from Heater:

Quick question. Is there anywhere to get the skull screw head covers? I remember seeing them a few years ago and now can't seem to find who is still making them. Much thanks!

I'm not familiar with these. What exactly is a skull screw head cover? Where do they go?

#18741 76 days ago
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:

Mine took a bit of fiddling with to get installed and working just right (it didn't help that the install videos were multiple in number and taken at varying points in the mod's design refinement), but the effort was well worth it.
Been working flawlessly for years now and it is very satisfying to see the chest open when ready to lock a ball, and close again after you do so!

Yeah, I recall the instructions/videos being rather confusing. I just don't have the patience for the install right now. I'd rather be playing pinball than fiddling around with a mod for hours. Maybe when an updated installation video comes out I might try to tackle this again.

#18743 76 days ago

Possibly. I haven't decided yet. Are they no longer being made?

Just to confirm, we are talking about the mod, not the pin.

#18758 72 days ago
Quoted from Kelsbells:

Quick question am I right in thinking that fitting mirror / art blades into this game is at best a very tight fit, and if I was going to put mirror blades in then bally williams are the correct size?

I got some artblades installed, but fit is tight. I've never used mirror blades but I believe they are a tad bit thicker so those might be difficult. Either way, make sure you have a sideart protectors for when you raise the playfield otherwise you'll gouge the crap out of whatever blades you install.

I've been in the club for a month now having traded my MMr-LE to regain entry back into the POTC-LE club. What the F*%! was I thinking having gotten rid of this game!? POTC is such a gem of a game. The mechs, the sounds, the gameplay, the depth....simply amazing and unmatched by any JJP pin that has followed. Yeah, it would be nice if they finished the code, but realistically I haven't gotten anywhere close to even seeing it if it was there.

Curious, who out there is the proud owner of LE #39? Curious, as to where my original machine is and if the current owner would be interested in parting ways with some of the mods I had on it. If you have LE #39 please PM me.

#18764 58 days ago
Quoted from gprotein:

Was it a Royal edition you traded for this POTC?

OG remake LE. The ones that came out before the Royals were released. Plus a few K on my end.

Quoted from iamabearsfan:

Sooooooo, any recommendations on rubber kits then?

I've learned over the years to keep it simple. I order Titan Clears in all sizes and put them on all my machines. Makes it real easy when you need to replace something, they look fantastic on every pin and they don't get nearly as dirty as colored rubbers.
