PotC as a theme holds less than zero interest for me ...

... but the light show looks absolutely incredible, shot map is totally different to prior games, interactivity and toys look fantastic, Johnson code seems as deep & innovative as ever, and it's great that a guy under 30 designed this.

Real tour de force.

One concern is the discs. They do seem to launch the ball SDTM quite a lot, at least on this early code.

Other is of course the ongoing theme of pricing in pinball.

That makes sense. I was never a big PotC fan, but I think JJP knocked it out of the park again. I am excited to see how this game progresses

I'm in. I was tired of waiting on Stern with their cash grab cookie cutter designs with tie fighters on a stick and hallmark DS ornament. Just the shear depth of code that will be implemented and all the variables, features, mechs toys make this a no brainer to me and I've been one of the biggest price hikes nay-sayers for a little while. Code is 20% complete but these guys have a plan in hand, have acknowledge what the rules are going to be and from what I have seen in the past games, code support is very good. While this will cost me 2 Stern games, I couldn't be happier that I have made the jump. And Stern can eat their heart out with their SW BS they tried to pull.

Welcome to the club! I am very excited for this game. Do we know if it will ship with complete code like DI?

#6 5 years ago

Did they license the Zimmer scores?

#7 5 years ago

They have about 3 months to get through 80% so I highly doubt it but even at the moment it looks more complete then most of Stern's release

Right, but they didn't they blow through a lot before the DI release. Either way, code looks great!

Amazing, thanks for this. Really great photos

If you have to ask...

#13 5 years ago

great launch and great video guys, the way a pinball should be shown off for the first time - well done everyone involved

#14 5 years ago

Awesome reveal, really enjoyed watching the stream live on twitch. I'm seriously considering this. Pirates is a theme I love and am a huge Disney fan. I have a restored stern POTC and I love that game, probably one of he most under rated out there. But this new revelation looks amazing! I can't wait to play one

#15 5 years ago

Wow... JJP issues another game changer. What a stunning machine!!! Absolutely gorgeous.

Hats off to Jack and his crew!

2 stern games is the answer. And i didnt even flinch. Stern lost me for another year. Thats how i look at it because a) if gotg turns out to be good then ill have to wait at least 18 months before they get their head out of their ass to complete code anyways b) they might lose the sale entirely if Toy Story pulls all the stops.

I loooked at my sterns last night and tried to compare them feature wise with the new pirates and added the features together. It would take at least two sterns to fill the feature matrix.

Since i only have finite room im upgrading my collection instead of settling for the horseshit stern has been selling as of late.

Hope this answers your question

#17 5 years ago

This will probably me my 3rd JJP game. What a difference with the SW release. I own both Stern and JJP but the difference in quality, feature matrix, presentation of the game, already quality images and video at the release, use of a Disney license, etc is unbelievable. Good times for Pinball and us customers.

#18 5 years ago

Who is the designer on this game? Very impressive!

#19 5 years ago

Pirates looks great!! Did any hear anything about release times?

Also as I look at this game I can only wonder what a JJP STAR WAR could have been like. Oh well...

Well said. The separation has really happened. JJP throws down the high dollar hammer!!!

In on an Le. This game is what SW should have been. Well done Eric, and I can't wait for shipping.

#23 5 years ago

This game looks awesome! Eric really made a splash with his first design!!

#24 5 years ago

I own to JJP's and love them. This looks awesome!
What are the prices?
I hadn't looked yet, did they go up?

#25 5 years ago

8,500, 9,500 and 12,500. Release first quarter of 2018.

#26 5 years ago

Anyone know more about the modes? What are they like? Hoping they dont feel like hobbit's modes...

#27 5 years ago

Just put a deposit on an LE. I was sold almost instantly. Looks fantastic!

Without the best music score in history , the Pin would be missing one of the Important Things for a Movie Pinball....

#29 5 years ago

I'm in on an LE. I hope they add an option for lollipop rails on the LE, same as they have shaker and glass options on the SE. I haven't seen anyone else wanting this, what's up with that?

#30 5 years ago

Pinside does not have an abbreviation for this title yet. POTC2?

I'm sure someone will figure out how to patch it into the game.

Play it in the background while you play

Stern original can be changed to POS.

Pirates Of Stern, of course ...

JJP can be POTC.

#34 5 years ago

Some people were calling it JJPOTC

#35 5 years ago
Quoted from Silverballer:

How many POTC movies does this one represent? I think that's why Stern Indiana Jones is IJ4, 4 movies rep'd. So it's either POTC4 or POTC5.

#36 5 years ago

I agree with the IJ4 reference but I do not think of The Pinball Adventure as IJ3 nor do I consider the new ST pin as ST2. How many SW pins represent 3 movies? Lets not even go there. Whatever it becomes is fine by me, just mulling things over. The game looks awesome and it appears destined to be a big hit. I was impressed with the speed of play and wonder if the pitch is still 6.5 degrees.

Way too early with only 1/5th the code done but after playing the game a bunch of times Thursday and Friday I can tell you that this is nothing like Hobbit.

There is a lot to shoot at. A lot. A lot lot.

I am not the biggest JJP supporter. I liked all 3 previous games. This one though is better.
Think of WOZ (lots of features) but with more shoots and flow and fast. I never felt like I was playing a wide body game when I played it.

#38 5 years ago

200 collectors edition , how many LE's will be released??

#39 5 years ago

I am in for #12 POTC-CE.....I think I will monut a Bobble head on each side of the Topper to give it my own unique touch. So as ur bumping the game...Richie is giving his approval.

New acronym should just be POT.
Why? Because it's so dope!

The modes are very liking going to play like modes from the Hobbit meaning objective based modes that work the playfield in interesting ways....just 3x as many which is insane considering The Hobbit has 30+ modes, lol.

Keith is a master at objective based rulesets and I think this will he his best yet. Both Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have a multiball for each film that have multiple stages to them. The same will apply to POTC with a multiball for each of the 5 films plus I think a mini wizard for each.

Overall if you are a fan of deep objective based rulesets then this will be the ultimate game for you. This game will not have an ACDC style ruleset that focuses more on points and hitting the same shot over and over again.

The standard doesn't list moulded toys, anyone know how they compare to the LE and Ce toys?

Is the topper interactive and will it be sold as an accessory for the LE and SE?

Did I read somewhere they didn't get the license for the theme music?

#45 5 years ago

I’m in on the CE....curious about the topper, as well. Hoped it was included in this version. Are there other pics ?
1st quarter ‘18 for all versions?

Added over 6 years ago: Just looked at the matrix, topper included in the CE...hooray!!!...happy day 1 adopter....

#47 5 years ago

looking closely i find the flipper bats being yellow look horrific . should be a nod to the black pearl and make them black like upper play field . just my two cents. otherwise awesome looking game.

#48 5 years ago

Im in for an CE. This is the game I've been waiting for. I love pirates, I love Disney, I love the franchise, I love JJP, and my name is David, and people often call me "David Jones".

What more could I ask for?

CE topper is exclusive and that topper is only for the CE.....I don't think they offer that for sale seperately
