Sorry if this has been asked before but is there a way to download the older versions of the game code. I thought they used to all be on the Stern download page but now only the most recent version is available.

Thanks for any help with this.

#13298 1 year ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

I always look at the download file name in the browser, copy it, paste it in the browser address bar, then change the name to point to the old code.

I tried that and cannot get it to work. I tried multiple naming conventions and could never get an old one to work. Thanks for the suggestion though. If you can get it to work now please let me know how you did it.

Can I go back to code 1.02 without causing any problems? Has anyone tried it yet?

I had to have my CPU Board on my 2 day old RUSH Pro replaced by Stern and thought I had disabled auto-update after moving my 1.02 SD card over to the new board they sent me today but it reset and then auto updated the machine to 1.10. I really like the 1.02 code better but am afraid it might kill a node board if I try to downgrade it to 1.02 using a USB stick. I do have the code for doing it that way but cannot find the full 1.02 SD card image anymore for download if I needed to just swap the SD card.

I had a feeling I would need to contact Stern for the official answer. Thanks, I will do so.

Quoted from Vespula:

Speaking of new topper features:
I finally read the release notes in full and it's a lot more than just a box of synchronized lights and spinning gears..
There's a topper mystery scoop award added and the radio dial that spins around gives you awards, like topper frenzy or even an extra ball. You got a 25% chance of getting an extra ball every time you get topper mystery award, Which kind of makes up for removing light extra ball as a possible scoop mystery award. But I know this penalizes people with no topper by removing an extra ball opportunity... so there is that.
So you basically have to get lucky twice....you have to hit the scoop mystery when lit and then have to win the topper mystery feature in order to get the opportunity to win one of four mystery features on the spinning topper dial ..explained below
Rush Topper features:
- Song-Synchronized Concert RGB Lighting.
- Album collection tracking:
- Added status lights for all albums available to collect for album jackpots and all albums available to be used as The Weapon.

Topper Mystery features:
- Topper Mystery can be earned as a mystery feature when a topper is connected to the Rush game and the game is not in competition mode.
- EXTRA BALL - Awards an extra ball.
- MILLIONS - Awards a value between 1,000,000 - 12,000,000 points.
- ADVANCE TIME MACHINE - Adds 5 years to the Time Machine up to a maximum of 10 years per game. If all years have been awarded, adds up to 5 hits toward the next Time Machine multiball.
- FRENZY - 60 second switch frenzy mode. Each switch hit awards 10,000 + (50 per topper switch closure this ball.)
- Added TOPPER FRENZY CHAMPION high score entry.

I think it would make more sense if they adjusted the code to leave the lite extra ball mystery if no topper is detected and if they want to make the probability of it not awarding as often then do that. It really changes the gameplay a whole lot and people with a topper now have multiple scoring advantages over people without a topper, not just the extra ball part. Seems lame to me. So now you have to ask was your high score pre or post 1.10 code update and do you have a topper or not.

Hey Raymond Davidson what do you think? I have read that you pay some attention to these posts on pinside.

Quoted from mjannusch:

I pulled out my 1.02 SD card, duplicated it to another SD card, then put it back in and updated to 1.10. It reflashed my node boards and was running 1.10. I then put my old 1.02 card in, and it reflashed the node boards back to whatever node firmware is on 1.02. No problems.
You just need to get a copy of the SD card 1.02 software (I don't think you can downgrade using the USB version). I have it, but don't have a good way to get it to you. If nobody else can get it to you, PM me in a few days.
Note: I'm not sure if using the raw SD card image (which won't have your machine's saved data, settings, scores, etc) will cause any undesired behavior with Insider Connected. You might have to re-register your machine or something. Don't know about that.

Thanks for doing the testing, sounds promising. I sent a support request to Stern and will see what they say about it. I might get with you regarding the SD image if they cannot provide a link to it for me.

Stern support answered my email and told me it was okay to go back to 1.02 code from 1.10 by using a USB stick and doing the FULL update with VERIFY. I did it last night successfully and it reflashed the node boards back to the previous firmware versions as well. Of course with anything, your mileage may vary but it worked for me.

Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions. Of course now I am thinking about getting the Expression Lighting and the 2112 Shooter Knob and if I do that I will have to install the 1.10 code anyway.

#13648 1 year ago
Quoted from Vespula:

Crickets...

So how's everyone who reset the scores for 1.10 feeling about their new scores...?
I'm just getting into it but got 279m for my GC so far, previous 697m or something like that, and other top are all over from 123 to 197m.... I'm missing that extra ball, I can tell you that.

I had 550ish million on the 1.10 code on my RUSH Pro machine after playing it for a few days but ended up going back to 1.02 code. I missed the light extra ball from the mystery shot too. I pre-ordered a 2112 shooter rod that may require the 1.10 code though so may need to update to 1.10 once it arrives. If that is the case I think I will switch my replay award to extra ball instead of a credit to offset the missing extra ball mystery award. I am really hoping that Stern puts the mystery award light extra ball back though in the next code update for people without a topper.

#13652 1 year ago
Quoted from Vespula:

I did light the extra ball lights on the playfield (rotating between side scoop and under upper flipper) and collected...so there is that....
Btw, how am I lighting that? And also, how do you move it back and forth between the scoop to flipper?

A certain number of ramp shots will lite the extra ball and it changes between the top scoop and the shooter lane under flipper spot when the ball hits the slingshot bumpers above the left and right flippers. I think the first extra ball lights at 8 ramp shots for the default setting and the second at 69 ramp shots but the 69 ramp shots award was also removed in 1.10 code. Collecting 5 albums lights the extra ball as well. I think the 8 ramp shots for extra ball is adjustable in the service menu also. It is listed in the rules on the Stern site which still shows the rules per the original code from what I can tell not the 1.10 code because it still has the light extra ball as a mystery award. Also, your ramp shot count shows in the flipper status report and I think on the LCD stats as well.

Here is a link to the rules on the Stern website. https://sternpinball.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Rush-Rulesheet.pdf

It's a very deep ruleset compared to most pinball machines.

Quoted from Vespula:

On a positive side note, everyone probably knows this trick, but the weaker spring in the shooter rod also makes it even easier to intentionally make a failed plunge to trigger the shooter lane upper switch in order to start the video with the ball rolling back down, so you can just watch the video without playing.

I still wish DJ mixer mode would have an option play these videos while the song is playing... Seems a waste of great video.. I don't care if it's perfectly synced, or whatever, but if I can watch the video with a failed plunge, why can't I watch it in DJ mode too ??

I think it would be cool to be able to load a USB flash drive with your own collection of music MP3 files and plug it into main board and be able to play your own music files in the DJ mode.

Quoted from GandalfBlack:

Have any of you stuck to the old code 1.01?
I understand that in addition to the cancellation of the extra mystery ball and the one for the 69 ramps, the value bonus returned to zero with each new ball.
It is therefore even more difficult to reach 100 million on the missions and therefore to progress by 10 years for each planet mode. 2112 is moving away for the majority of average gamers.
I understand that there are adjustments for high scores but making wizard modes inaccessible is just frustrating.
I've played over 10000 games and only managed to start 2112 twice without being able to complete it.
I really hope that a new balanced code will come back.

I have reverted to 1.02 code because of the changes I did not like in 1.10\1.11 code. I really feel taking the mystery lite extra ball reward away and then giving people with a topper bonuses that people without a topper do not get was not right and messed up the game I was used to and I did not like the other changes either.

#14160 11 months ago
Quoted from GandalfBlack:

I haven't flashed the new code because I'm too worried that I can't go back to the 1.02 code.
What upsets me is that I understand the new update fixes technical issues?

See my Post #13616 in this topic. I reverted to 1.02 successfully on my RUSH Pro machine with the guidance of Stern support.

Quoted from Dobler:

The felt fix alone has worked for me for 1000 games with no issues. I even 3D printed a guide expecting to use it when the felt failed, but so far it’s still working perfectly.

The felt fix has worked for me as well 100%. I used a black one from a velcro strip (the soft, fuzzy part, not the rough part) I had about 2 inches long right on the apex of the curve about half way up from the playing field. If you didn't know I put it there and had never seen the RUSH machine before you would think it was factory stock.

How easy is it to put these in? I'm terrible , just a heads up. I haven't ordered them yet because I have the default Stern protector on it now. But they are in my cart here just waiting to pull the trigger.

I have over 400 plays on my RUSH Pro with the stock Stern black scoop protectors (blinders some people call them) and have had no issues with them and they still look fine. I can also hit the scoop shot with no problem at all. My machine was made in June of 2022 by the way so they are the second revision that Stern came out with not the original blue ones that seemed to fall apart.

I think that's just one of those shots you have to "dial in."

Are you referring to the issue that this item is supposed to fix? If so, I would say it fixes it most of the time. I bought one and installed it on my machine. But this may not be what you are referring to.

66 percent chance it worked... Lucky... Just like hayfarmer is lucky..... For now ... The better game is the one that always works....cues hayfarmer

I played a premium over the weekend in an arcade and the time machine ramp was stuck in the down position which pretty much ruined the game for me. I have a Pro at home but I do like playing the premium models when they are working properly. The same arcade had a Godzilla with a bad right flipper (was sticking up so probably needed a new coil stop), a Star Wars with 4 drop targets that were stuck down, and 4 out of 5 that had insider connect were offline. The arcade was at a casino with no attendant onsite so they most likely don't care much about the pinball machines. I won't be going back there to play except if the wife wants to go play the slot machines again.

Quoted from Magicman:

I also recently bought and installed this piece from NC. It did completely fix the spinner shot rejects as promised, but man was it a pain to install. It just seemed a little too thick. I haven't heard anyone else say this, so maybe it's just my game, but I had a hell of a time getting the back of it in front of the guide wire. Finally loosened the two nuts underneath the playfield that secure the ball guide to give a little more space between the wire form and ball guide, and was able to fit it in, but my index fingers have been numb for two days from pushing on that thing. Probably didn't help that I also replaced the coil stops on all three flippers after that, as those also require some squeezing to compress the spring when reassembly.

I had a hard time installing it too and ended up with a few nicks on my fingers in the process but it has fixed the rejected spinner shots.

Quoted from PoMC:

At this point I'm still unable to completely silence the new shooter lane callouts. Replacing with a silent audio clip results in a pop being heard when it plays. The game music volume also slightly decreases when the clip is played. So it's actually way more annoying than any callout being played. I'm trying something else right now, but still get the pop sound.
So those callouts might need to remain in 1.13, but I am replacing the Pre/LE ramp and captive ball callouts that are in the Pro code. I don't need to silence them, just change them so they're not referencing non-existent game features.
Here's the stock pro 1.12 code if anyone wants to revert back it. Only keeping this link up a few days at the most because I'm low on cloud storage.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-9epQPk7y05n9nUDP-v8y6IXsIAFzQLx/view?usp=sharing

Is there any way you could put the link back up for the 1.12 stock pro code for one more day? I just saw this post and would like to download it please. Thanks in advance if at all possible.

Maybe they sent you extras. By the way, did you just contact Stern support to get these and did they send them for free? I could use them as well.
