Easy pickings for Mr Favre
Quoted from mof:Easy pickings for Mr Favre
Wrong decade bro. That was Drew Bledsoe. Chicago whooped Eason's ass.
Steve Grogan was the man... after they let Plunkett go.
I had to look it up to get the facts straight, but Miami has only been the top seed once and that was in the 1984 season at 14-2 and then hosted Pittsburgh in the AFC title game and smoked them before getting smoked themselves by the 49rs in the SB. I'm sure we all remember that.
1982, 1985, and 1992 seasons they hosted the championship because the top seeds lost divisional games that year.
In the undefeated season, they had to play it in Pittsburgh because it rotated divisions hosting it until 1975 when it started to go by best record. Then it was in Miami the next year because it was their turn. So five AFC title games in Miami total and they won three.
A beer is waiting in the garage now. Carry on.
Edited for accuracy and clarity.
Quoted from mof:Bengals, I'm gonna clench 'em hard until you squeeze out a victory against KC on Sunday.
That sure would make things interesting for the final week of the season.
Quoted from chuckwurt:That sure would make things interesting for the final week of the season.
Vegas has Chiefs -7. But as dysfunctional as their sideline looked with Kelce and Mahomes losing their shit, I wouldn't be surprised at a loss. Mahomes making inaccurate passes and then blaming the receivers and Kelce has the drops. Both uncharacteristic. As soon as a team is called a dynasty, I root for them to lose.
Go Bengals.

They've been swifty whipped
Well fk. The 1982 Dolphins also hosted an AFC title game against the Jets but weren't the top seed that year either. The Raiders were. So that makes five.
But who really cares...

2023 Philadelphia Eagles are a dynasty
Quoted from tomdrum:As soon as a team is called a dynasty, I root for them to lose.
I loved Mahomes...but this whinny shit turned me real quick. Pissing & moaning aboot ref calls (that are recockulus) is fucking gross. Take that shit back to the NBA Steve Kerr.
Quoted from TheLaw:this whinny shit turned me real quick.
The more they cry, the more they deserve to lose in my humble opinion.
Not like that's going to help my teams.
Quoted from boscokid:2023 Philadelphia Eagles are a dynasty
That will be one and done in the playoffs likely.

Detroit?
Perhaps they won't play them first?
Quoted from o-din:Detroit?
Perhaps they won't play them first?
No they won't. SF #1, PHI #2 Detroit #3 now. If the season ended today they would host the Seahawks.
I'm staying in 1980 a few days longer so I can enjoy some Raiders in the playoffs. A quarter a day.
Raiders beat the Oilers in Oiler-land: 27-7 (mostly garbage time points, it was VERY close)
Raiders beat the Browns in Brown-land: 14-12 (-37°F wind chill -- last minute win with the INT), Sipe could have won it...
That Cleveland-Raiders game was SICK at 14-12. Another playoff game where the Raiders BARELY won.
This is not the infamous 1976 team. But man the defense is strong. I don't know how we are gonna contain Fouts in good weather. We are gonna have to score some points. I don't think the SD defense is too much to worry about. Watch out for big 6'5" Louie Kelcher though.
The kickoff music? YMCA...
Opening play from Fouts? 55 yard bomb in stride. Perfection. Gotta see this guy work to believe it. 48 bomb to Joiner. He's way too good at this. Ouch though. 12 attempts, and 3 Ints first half (one called back) didn't remember him being an INT thrower.
Quoted from mof:If the AFC championship goes through Miami, we are gonna see a whole LOT more Filet-o-Fishes posted in this here thread. I mean I know I won't hesitate.
Perhaps a few filet-o-mammals as well. After all, dolphins are mammals.

Everybody remembers The Raiders as 14 point underdogs smoking The Redskins in that Super Bowl.
It was the things that jumping up and down were made of.
Quoted from o-din:Redskins in that Super Bowl
you thinking 83 mate
were you at that 1980 afc championship game?
Quoted from mof:you thinking 83 mate
I'm thinking Marcus Allen running for pay dirt and a seriously bad Theismann pick six interception.
1980 Raiders beat The Eagles in the SB.
Shall we do 1976 next? Everybody beats The Vikings.
Actually for no good reason I hope they win the division and beat everybody.
Quoted from o-din:1980 Raiders
you dialed the wayback all the way to 1976 my friend xD
you wanna land in 1980/1981 on Jaworski and the Eagles...
Quoted from o-din:beat everybody
1980 raiders were #1 in takeaways. Who's #1 in defensive takeaways in 2023? You really want that.
https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/nfl-team-most-defensive-takeaways
Ravens > Niners, Browns.
Quoted from mof:you dialed the wayback all the way to 1976 my friend
No, it's your fault.
What The Raiders have done is beat more Super Bowl winning franchises than a lot or teams including The Chargers. That is all for now.
Goddamn Odin how many teams you got
For better or worse im a one team guy forever. With occasional rooting detours.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Goddamn Odin how many teams you got
I got The Angels. Is it spring yet?
Would love to see the Dolphins beat the Ravens in Baltimore this weekend. Would be fun to hear the Lamar MVP talk get shut down if Chubb, Wilkins, Ramsey, and Van Ginkel have big games.

CMC should be MVP. No player means more to a team than him.

1980 was a very good year for Philly sports. Phils won the WS, Flyers, 76ers and Eagles all made the championship games/series and the Stars won the USFL championship too.
Quoted from Daditude:Wednesday
And...
Every day is Wednesday when your team is 7-8 with a backup QB.
Quoted from mof:Hey what's up with the Jags? Weren't they supposed to turn it up a notch after last season?
Yeah, but Europe wouldn't let them stay.
Quoted from mof:Hey what's up with the Jags? Weren't they supposed to turn it up a notch after last season?
Lawrence seems to have regressed and has been banged up.
Quoted from DanMarino:Lawrence needs to grow up and cut his hair. That will unleash his ultimate QB powers on the NFL.
In 10 years he will be doing Rogaine commercials anyway.
Quoted from DanMarino:cut his hair
ok gramps, say what you want about hair length, but... we all know it's
BEARD or bust in the NFL -- not length.
Quoted from o-din:In 10 years he will be doing Rogaine commercials anyway.
And in 25 years Nugenix Total-T.
Quoted from Jamesays:I wonder if if Tua will have to buy Superbowl tickets or if they will be gifted by a friend.
I would be happy for 1 playoff victory. It’s nice to have meaningful NFL games after Halloween.
Quoted from mof:wow that's a horrible uniform/helmet combo -- oilers. you can barely make out the logo...
horrible shade of a dirty light blue. I'm out.
[quoted image]
I think there's something screwy with that film. The columbia blue helmets and unis were nice
