Quoted from gjm:

What's up with eating the ice cream cone? LOL

Just a tease of the cringe boomer dad joke onslaught this game is about to unleash upon us.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

If toilet seats can do it, so can a 13k collectors edition pinball machine!
I refuse to purchase until we get a full-automated open and soft-close system for the backbox.

Now I want this machine to shoot water up my ass. Expectations have been set!!!!

This tank exterior reveal is just batshit crazy - but I still wanna see what this thing is. I love Dennis’ designs. WH2O is an all time favorite. POTC’s sinking ship was the closest Stern ever got to a MM toy before GZ. I think WOF with a different theme would be celebrated today. I respect him for “nope-ing out” of Heighway & Derp Root when he knew they were scams. He’s got a good bullshit-o-meter. Glad to see him cross the finish line with GTF.

First thing I noticed was the weird mismatched leg sizes.

If we knew LCD would lead to porn acting in pinball, we would have stuck with DMD.

This is worse than Sega CD FMV...those at least had some real actors sometimes. RIP Dana Plato.

Looking forward to reading "How I TANKED A Pinball Company" - The David Fix Memoir

Quoted from superNoid:

I think in fact when you pause and think about it, the super cheese is endearing and may actually set the game apart. If the acting was dialed and took itself serious then it would be a harder sell and less authentic. Camped out, low grade line reading like a 50s sci-fi TV show is clearly what they were angling for.

There's an art to camp 50's acting. There's a fine line between funny/camp & Tommy Wisseau's The Room.

That being said, it's going to be on a small LCD, not projected on a movie screen...it might work. This trailer leaned WAAAAAAY too hard on the footage...it should have shown more gameplay with a small window showing choreographed LCD footage.

Quoted from Betelgeuse:

Yup. She wasn't the original Sonya, though. She first appeared in MK3.

Liz Maleki is the OG Sonya! I played MK with her once & knocked her into the pit. She could kick my ass IRL, tho.

Quoted from VGC1612:

i saw the signature go for 17k,true?

AP can GTFO with that one!

Quoted from TreyBo69:

I love retro scifi and my wife loves ice cream.

I'm glad my wife loves Foo Fighters.

BTW, if anyone wants to enjoy some intentionally funny bad sci-fi acting, check out Decker: SPACE WALL!

Quoted from Beechwood:

If they used 15 seconds of bad acting and 2 minutes of actual shots on the playfield in that video we may be signing a slightly different tune.
That shit they put out hyped up about 1.7% of pinside.

Whoever made the decision to feature the FOOTAGE over the GAME just cost them tons of sales. Horrible Marketing Decisions 101.

Not only is AP at the END of Reveal-a-Palooza, they're still in competition with OLDER games that are still in production. I'm calling it quits after buying Foo Fighters & Pulp Fiction...but lets say I decided to go in on another game, would I buy this? Or would I consider a Deadpool, Elvira, Maiden, etc? I'm absolutely going with an in production Stern game. Crazy to think this is going up against another Nordman sci-fi cheese game with live-action footage! Elvira wins that fight, hands down.

Quoted from trueno92:

This guy did a 3 minute machine restore video and it blows that galactic ice cream reveal out of the water

Ap should hire him.. looks like he can do video editing AND knows pinball..

That guy rules! Based on that video, I'd rather buy Hardbody than GTF lol

Quoted from Dan1733:

I will be shocked if the 200 SLE are not gone in the next day or so.

I’ll be shocked if they sell more than 20 SLE. $17.5k?! GTFO…you gotta reeeeally want this thing for keeps. Like Bond60, the “10k by Xmas” joke applies here.

This is a “wait & play, then buy the normal cabinet if you like it” kind of game.

#2847 1 year ago
Quoted from benheck:

This should look like Rocky Jones: Space Ranger but instead we got Sewer Shark.

At least Sewer Shark had that Danny Devito clone. He was a pretty good actor.

#2849 1 year ago
Quoted from Dan1733:

500 > 200
Bond 60 is fantastic BTW

False equivalency.
Bond literally will only have 500 max. No other variations. GTFO potentially can have unlimited units produced. SLE/LE is just useless bling. Dlx is the same game, all features under the glass are the same….and then there will be the Standard version as well.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

So you think I’m overreacting?
I honestly can’t see how AP survives this. I mean how do they sell more than a handful of these things?
Maybe in a couple years we’ll look back on this and see how off I was!

I think if it ends up being fun & the assets in the game aren’t as cringe as the raw assets shown today - they could prob sell an OK amount of the standard or deluxe editions. How long can AP survive “OK”, though? If I was forced to buy a AP game, I’d rather have a Nordman than any of their other titles. There’s no way they’ll have 1000+ insta-sales like Pulp Fiction, though.

#3000 1 year ago
Quoted from luckymoey:

Signature is a price grab but can’t blame them when people paid $5-10k extra for basically nothing with Beatles Diamond, EHOH Signature and BM66 SLE.

I don’t like the cash grab games, but Beatles is THE BEATLES. Elvira has a professional & pinball history, and you got some fabric that her butthole potentially grazed. Batman is BATMAN & had Adam West doing custom callouts for you.

WTF is GTF?! This title doesn’t have the prestige and cache of those licenses. It’s Boomer kitch with porn actors. It’s NOTHING made by NOBODIES. $17k?!? GTFO.

The logical move would have been one LE/Sig Edition at $11k with the stupid tank and lunchbox crap. Deluxe as is, it’s priced right IMO. The “Pro”/route version should have been a LAUNCH PRIORITY at $7-8k. No license = NO FOMO. Instant “wait & see” for potential buyers. You need games on location if you want the “wait & see” crowd to fall in love with your game.

Quoted from KingVidiot:

eVeRy pInBaLl mAChiNe mUsT bE UltRa sErIoUs!!!!!111

No one said that. People yearn for humor in their games. Rick & Morty is a FUNNY game. GTFo is a failed ATTEMPT at humor. This is the equivalent of a stand-up bombing. We wince and feel uncomfortable & embarrassed for those on stage. If you want your pin to be funny, hire actual comedians & comedic actors. There’s a reason Bally Williams went to Chicago Second City or people like Elvira. Just because a pin TRIES to be funny doesn’t make it the Seinfeld of pins.

Quoted from Bohm:

To further your point:
Unlicensed theme, unthinkable!!
Meanwhile, I can't get a decent condition MM, AFM, TOTAN, CV or MB for under $10K and they're all top 40 games despite being 20+ years old and unlicensed.

False equivalency. Those are Bally Williams games - designed, built & created by the best factory ever during a different era where the arcade was still relevant. They cost about $2k & had 20+ years to gain their reputation & collectibility status.

Quoted from musketd:

Why is no one from AP putting up a gameplay video or one of the locations that has this game there already?

Because marketing genius David Fix thought footage of Gramma Sonya on a green screen was enough to make people drop $17k on this game.

#3125 1 year ago
Quoted from Bohm:

I wasn't equating those games to GTF at all, only pointing out that their unlicensed status hasn't lessened their desirability or value.
If GTF is a good/great game, the LE and Signature models are going to be a pretty decent investment in a few years.

You’re comparing two different eras and contexts. Unlicensed was fine in the 90s, because ops were just buying anything to put on location. If it was B/W, SOLD. Today it’s mostly home collectors buying games, and they generally only bite at launch if the license/theme means something to them. An unlicensed theme has to do EVERYTHING right to have a chance in this market. Design, art, theme, mechs, A/V have to be mindblowing to have a shot at front loaded sales. No one has done this yet.

When prices are $11k-17k, thinking this game
is a wise investment is foolish.

Quoted from Dan1733:

Coincidentally, CrazyLevi is one of those who blasted me for criticizing the clip art on AIQ. Called me a "newb" and said nobody pays attention to the screen.
Guess I'll always be a newb.

It’s a comic book game. Having “motion comic”art is fitting, and a good example of “less is more”. Good art assets with less motion is better than lots of crappy animation (see TMNT). AIQ’s comic art is clean & easy to catch in your peripheral vision. It was the right decision for such a complex game. Last thing you need is “WTF is going on on the LCD” when you’re trying to play & figure out those rules.

#3334 1 year ago
Quoted from Deez:

Cracks me up how everyone is pearl clutching on this release like you're not going to line up to buy like a bunch of lemmings. Doesn't matter how the release went, won't affect sales one but because we're all addicts.

A bunch of us already bought 1 or 2 of the other 10 games announced recently…even a bunch of the addicts will pass on this. Not pearl clutching, just observing what a botched launch this is.

Quoted from Methos:

These guys put years of blood, sweat, tears, time and money into a project and a few keyboard warriors shit all over it which can and does have an impact on sales and possibly...their success?
Yeah....nah...yeah.

If you’re asking $17k for your product, I reserve the right to defecate directly down your throat after eating lots of corn. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

The only one responsible for their sales success is them, their product, and their marketing. As customers, it’s our right to critique & NOT buy something.

Quoted from Methos:

The AP team should be a little saucy after all that has been said and done in this thread.

That’s not sauce. It’s diarrhea. From the shit.

Quoted from metallik:

What the hell is wrong with you? Get this entitled bullshit outta here.

LOL, who’s the entitled one? I’m not scolding people for not treating the mortals of AP as GODS. Why are the people of AP entitled to only praise & zero critique?

Quoted from Fatsquatch:

It appears some would say that since he’s an artist, he gets a pass on being professional and civil.

Franchi seems to have a bit of “Main Character Syndrome” …he has a hard time understanding he’s just a part of a collaborative effort & it’s not his burden to protect everyone when a bunch of hobbyists/fans/customers critique a product. Our discourse about games is NOT personal…if he needs to blow off steam about it, call up a buddy & vent. Doing it here has no logical positive endgame for him or his clients. We’re the potential $17k customers. Don’t piss us off. Your client is trying to sell $17k toys. Don’t make them look bad.

#4716 1 year ago
Quoted from solid_snake:

$9k or $11k. No one gives a shit about the signature edition.

Hopefully. But it does exist, and they’re trying to sell it.

#4886 1 year ago
Quoted from Zablon:

I do find it funny that Levi, one of the most caustic people who goes out of his way to call people names and be offensive to them if he disagrees with them on this site, is always the first to go on a 'I'm offended' rage. He and Ice are like the polar opposites of each other, yet act almost exactly the same. Hmm....are Ice and Levi the same person......

I don’t think it’s possible to offend Levi….he’s pointing out cringe dated dad jokes. If anything he’s offended by AP’s inability to hire good comedy writers.
