Quoted from JustEverett:

IC app just hit app stores. I managed to get it downloaded, but the servers must be burning down as it won't load anything.

Same issue here. Not very well planned if you didn't think you'd get a surge of connections after emailing all your customers. This is basic 101 in a software release that Stern just screwed up.

#5402 5 months ago

Awesome idea, mine doesnt work.

#5403 5 months ago

I can't get to the web page now either... just a black screen

#5404 5 months ago

I'm getting a 502 error now. Off to a great start. haha

They pulled it down so they can post the correct version which includes those annoying 3min ads from YT upon loading. But don't worry. You can turn them off in the settings!

Quoted from parsonsaj:

I get to the login screen but it rejects the same credentials that have always worked on the web page.

Same here..... uninstalled..... Will wait till it actually works.....lol

#5407 5 months ago

Same here - App doesn't work, but now doesn't work over the internet anymore either.

Why am I not surprised....

Honestly how difficult would it have been for them to just increase the web app session timeout to something reasonable like a week or a month. They could have done this two years ago and reduced most of the friction in the web app.

#5410 5 months ago

I really like the error message..... "Sorry that didn't work", very detailed and helpful.

#5411 5 months ago

Yep, can't get passed the login screen.

Not a great launch.

Looks like a wrapper for the website. They'll presumably get logins sorted out soon(ish)

#5416 5 months ago

I see dots that spin. Seems like hours. I guess you are suppose to watch these dots spinning and you will suddenly want to buy more stern games.

Must renting servers from Activision. Cool none the less!

the $0.25/hr hosting plan can't take the the rush.

It's slow, but I got in.

Stern cut corners with the original launch in picking their development partner...

Buggy, not designed for real world users, poorly implemented...

Stern hires a PM internally to run the project... yet two years later we are basically in the same boat with only minor fixes and most Operator data being too unreliable or oriented in useless ways to even bother looking at.

So when they hit their next big milestone what do we get? Oh yeah... basically more of the same incompetent dev team work.

I wonder if they ever will learn to actually talk to their target audience and actually test if functionality actually addresses the use case.

I mean... Stern Insider probably has what.. probably 10-30k users? Maybe a few hundred or a thousand were trying this morning? They obviously muffed this roll out.

#5424 5 months ago

I decided to leave my phone open with the app spinning, and it did eventually load. Likely just that Stern did not anticipate the amount of server traffic they are receiving. Makes sense given the mid-day launch, they were trying to spread it out. But with everyone having their phones available at all times, the mid-day launch probably isn't going to decrease traffic much.

#5425 5 months ago

Off to a flying start here. Stern Insider Rejected.

Did Stern outsource app development to JJP?

Nah, if they did then this would only be a beta release of the app

Yeah, that's the thing that boggles my mind. It isn't like this is a complicated system. Login, throw down some static data and a bit of user data. Shouldn't be hard to scale to the relatively small number of users.

#5430 5 months ago

Current speed of the app is giving me flash backs to the dial up days...

it seems like the server side is under sized and JJP coding is not web / server codeing

Maybe Stern should stick to making pinball machines instead?

#5439 5 months ago

We bitch when they don't have an app & we bitch because they do. Yes is the roll-out perfectly executed absolutely not. But JHC relax peeps it will be distributed throughout different servers in due time to absorb the traffic/load.

#5440 5 months ago

Worked for me just now - no problem

#5441 5 months ago

People love to bitch. Stern already posted about the crash. Issues are to be expected with a launch. Not a big deal.

#5442 5 months ago

On the other hand, the Stern ads downloaded, installed and play perfectly in attract mode. Hopefully this makes everyone feel better.

They did not size the servers / web site the right way.

Did they do any load testing??

#5444 5 months ago

I guess I'm still wondering why we even need an app? What's wrong with a good mobile website?

#5445 5 months ago

Web works fine....app still broke fro me.... no biggie.... baby steps.....

You’re asking the wrong guy. I have no information on the internal workings of stern.

#5447 5 months ago

Works for me

#5448 5 months ago
Quoted from acedanger:

we bitch because they do.

As far as I’m concerned they still don’t have an app until it’s functional.

Actually…I just searched the App Store under “stern pinball” and “insider connected”….they literally don’t have an app as of this posting.

Unless I’m searching for the wrong thing.
