Quoted from pinster68:

Thanks! And thanks for the guidance. I had looked over the linkage quite a bit, and had tried adjusting it a little. There’s a Allen key set screw, but it doesn’t appear to do anything other than lock a portion of the linkage to the shaft. The gun runs a bit sluggish, so I’ll likely pull it for a complete overhaul and lube.

When the cannon swings home, does it go past "home" at all? If so then you'd loosen the set screw and realign the cannon and this would then make the cannon swing further down the targets, but I've not seen anyone ever talk about this set screw coming loose.

Still curious has to how much play you have in the linkage

The shaft is keyed, so the set screw appears to just lock it in vertically. I should have it apart in a day or so, when I can carve out the time. This T2 is a HUO so I’m reasonably certain the linkage isn't that worn.

Quoted from eyeamred2u:

Metal drill bit, some fluid, start with small size drill bit. no worries. Dremel will still produce heat so just be warned both ways are gonna stink if you overheat.

On any of my T2 resto's, I don't go back to original skull, So I never worry about this.

Thanks for the input. I will be replacing the skull as well. So can you tell me if you use rivets when installing the new skull and if so, what is the tool and process you use to install the rivets?

You can make your own rivet press.
Get the riveting dies and have a machinist modify the press to accept the die.
Very easy.

Dont waste your time with overpriced “riveting” mods sold by a business I refuse to name - like I did - there are better options for 1/10th the cost.

https://www.hansonrivet.com/tools-machines/riveting-accessories/riveting-squeezer-dies-2/

You can make the whole thing for $100 or less including the machinist fee abd a cheap harbout freight 1/2 ton press

Any T2 owners interested in an alt translite in excellent condition? My machine came with the original and the alt, but I prefer the original. Currently $100+ shipping on ebay but I'm looking for $70 shipped for mine OBO. PM me if you want it.

A few pics of my new T2… super clean HUO. Not perfect, but very little to complain about.

I am a buyer for a huo T2 if anyone is selling.
In Canada, and have top titles to trade.

Installed PinSound+ this weekend, but it's not working properly.
Today I installed the motion control and changed wiring and extension relay at the shaker.

I know. (Probably belongs in the “led puke” postings ) but I swear it looks better in person. Maybe it’s my other neons that washes some of it away. Or maybe I’ve just been blinded by the LED’s! Lol

I removed the lower mylar off the play field tonight , removed all the adhesive, waxed it up and installed 3 new balls . played a game that was much quicker and ordered a mylar replacement , that old mylar was scratched up and made the inserts look cloudy and slowed down the ball

What an ugly purple gay view of the backbox.

Received the skull from Italy yesterday... very nice work.

poor adhesion? The plastic needed adhesion promoter first maybe? Or sanding

#8868 2 years ago

sanding it also flattened all the 3d printer angles on the skull surface and the teeth is appliance porcelain paint with gray shadowing between the teeth it may be to bright but i wanted that artificial manufactured look

#8869 2 years ago

The problem is the chrome version, that's why I decided for the "normal" paint version... no issues.

Awesome work!

Nice trio there. Pure classic WMS

I upgraded my translight to a mirrored CPR backglass.
It looks amazing! T2 is the nicest CPR glass I've seen. Definitely recommend it.

Hi all, picked up my game in December. It is a nice routed example with what appears to be day 1 mylar. I've put in the Cliffys, new Titan rubbers and Comet LEDs. Since the teardown and cleaning, the ball bounces out of the database scoop far more often than not. Any adjustments that I can make or do I just keep playing and the game will slow down a bit? I've read and enjoyed every post in this thread, thanks in advance for your attention.

Is the ball sitting in the scoop flush? There is a plastic housing piece the ball sits on, it may be broken if the up-kicker is mis aligned.

Well sad to say, I am selling my T2 and all of the restore parts I have been collecting. I had hoped to do a complete restore like so many of the ones on this forum. A new baby put a damper on my time and priorities.

SOLD!

Couple of issues with my newly acquired T2:
2. During the start up of a game, I hit the skill shot and all of a sudden a multiball started. I'm sure that's not suppose to happen. Any thoughts on what to check?
Thanks.

Navystan What was your fix for this? This has just started happening with my T2 this week. This also seems to happen with like the first ball in a 2 player game, not sure if ya even need to hit the skill shot.

Thanks RGG

Anyone know where this piece goes? I found it in front of the gun laying on the metal ramp/rail. Thanks.

That's the "cap" for the VUK, the vertical up-kicker, located right behind the drop target, under the skull, on the bottom side of the playfield.

#8884 2 years ago

You're welcome. There's a plastic rod that the cap fits onto, that metal pin that's still in your cap locks it on thru a hole in the rod. Since that pin is still in the cap, I'm guessing that somehow the plastic rod is broken and will have to be replaced.

Oh hey look at that! Fellow Huntingtonner!

Thanks for posting this! What perfect timing. I had a random piece of black plastic start sliding down the playfield during a game, and since this thread was still in my head, I easily identified it as one of the 4 corners in the popper

Well I recently acquired a T2 and the playfield has seen better days, much better days. I would love to find a playfield in decent shape if possible to swap. Doesn’t need to be perfection. Anyone have anything they would part with? I’ve debated sanding and overlay, but I really want to do it right.

You could replace it with a brand new PF http://www.planetarypinball.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PPS-36-50013&Category_Code=PF

#8891 2 years ago

That’s definitely an option. I’m not going to jump right to brand new playfield right now. If I can’t find a decent used one I’ll end up going that route.

#8893 2 years ago

I thought I saw a playfield decal that centers inbetween the pop bumpers, but now i cant find it. Anyone know where to find it?

solid colors would be easy to clean up, paint, and place mylar over if you don't find one.

#8895 2 years ago

T2 playfield is not so difficult to restore.
It just needs patience and time.

Quoted from waldo34:

I agree, the pop bumper area may be a challenge but the rest of the playfield seems to be a little more reasonable. I’ve seen a lower playfield decal, but only at pinballcenter in Germany. I’ve got it clean now at least, I’m gonna debate my plan of action while I play it for now.

For 31 years, Arnold has watched us as the ball goes out through the middle. That must be boring in the long run.
And hey, there's much more to watch. We have cool ramps, a database lock, a real gun and a target. And we have poppers!!
It's time to look around.

Currently, I'm still doing some fine tuning. Optimizing the timing. My wife already thinks I'm crazy when I change the program again after the 2nd ball.
And I'm still coming up with more ideas that I'd like to implement. A little more random chance can come into play. So sometimes something can happen that we don't expect.
Example:
As soon as the gun moves, the eyes should go back and forth between the gun and the target. Isn't that what we do? Aiming?
By chance, he could then also pinch his eyes shut? Because he is afraid to miss the target?
And if the target is not hit, he could look a little to the right, offended.
So there are still plenty of ideas.

Sell it?
Maybe, depends on whether there is a demand. But then everything should be perfect. Currently still need to connect a few alligator clips here. Better would be reasonable connectors.
It is also a fiddly job to solder the LEDs for the eyes. Maybe I can inspire my wife, she is younger and still see well.
