Quoted from DennisDodel:

Torchy, Major League '63, Aloha.

Yes, Aloha was the last. You get bonus points for the Torchy and the '63 ML!

#6152 7 years ago
Quoted from DennisDodel:

Is that a sample North Star I see?

Not a sample but nice enough for me. That's in my collection along with that '63 ML you noticed. Actually got that not too far from you down in Belleville - yes, it came from Randy. He has another listed on ebay right now for $950.

#6153 7 years ago

I see a smidgeon of a "Kings & Queens" as well, correct?

#6154 7 years ago

Not sure about the wedgehead with it's back to us, but I'll take a stab at it. "Sure Shot"?

#6155 7 years ago
Quoted from jrpinball:

You're correct JR.

It's '63 Major League, North Star, Buckaroo, Kings and Queens, King of Diamonds, and then my 70's games the rest of the wall and around the corner.

That's an El Dorado that will end up in Florida when I'm done with it.

That was my next guess!

My next machine will be a 4 Million BC to go along with my Fireball and Nip It. Nice Score David!

#6159 7 years ago

4MBC is pretty similar to Fireball tho. Maybe diversify since space is an issue?

Cosmos? Wiggler? Dixieland? Heat Wave?

#6160 7 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

4MBC is pretty similar to Fireball tho.

Nah...I like 4 Million BC. Good luck on me finding a Cosmos in good condition or The Wiggler. Low production runs and they just don't come up for sale.

#6161 7 years ago

Just picked up a Bally Quarterback today. My first Bally EM. Will have pics soon. It's kind of a project machine.

Thanks!

I agree - get a cosmetically nice 4MBC when one comes available and you have the money. I have a feeling you're saving up for the 4MBC or another Bally title like Capersville - or else you would have sent me a pm wanting pics

Dave

#6163 7 years ago

Dave right now I am broke. I will have some money when a rebate check comes in + my bi weekly allowance that is allowed for pinball purchases. Shoot me a tell with pictures and an asking price. We can work something out if you are interested in selling it and I agree on the overall condition.

Then do the next best thing! Sit back and watch 1,000,000 BC. Won't cost much...

New one just picked up at Allentown. Needs some work, but that's the fun part, right?

She's got some cabinet issues that I'm working on first - front panel is separating and most of the leg bolt plates are in bad shape, so I'm swapping those for the winged version to lend some support to the corners.

Playfield has the usual wear under the kickout holes. I'll probably leave that alone since Wade Krause has this on his list.

Game play is generally good with a few scoring anomalies and one dead inlane switch.

My first wedgehead - glad to add one to the collection!

Last Friday my first EM machine, Sea Ray, finally arrived and was set up at home, which is about a one hour drive north of Sydney, Australia, after making its long journey from Portland, Oregon, USA, via Melbourne, Australia (about 1000 km south of Sydney), where it was initially unpacked and had the transformer rewired to suit our local 240 volt power by the guys at Pinball Machines Australia.

I cannot thank my wonderful wife enough for going to all of the effort to get one of these machines, which are basically unobtainable in Australia, from the other side of the planet, when most people question driving a couple of hundred kilometres to get a machine! it was an amazing surprise when I found out.

The machine itself is absolutely awesome, apart from a small mark just below the top out hole, the playfield is in great condition, and that backbox glass only has a few minor marks on it but overall is still very vibrant, and underneath the playfield, and inside the backbox is very clean.

The machine plays really well, the only small thing really wrong is that the right hand flipper is quite weak, any advice on what may be a possible cause of this would be greatly appreciated.

The first simple thing to inspect/service is the end of stroke switch. Make sure the points are clean and making good contact/wipe. Take a hard metal file to the contacts to make sure the surface is fresh.

#6168 7 years ago

Sea Ray is one of the first pinball machines I remember playing when it was new. That game always had a good crowd around it. It had a look about it that stood out from the rest. Even though I'm a two inch flipper guy now I wouldn't mind finding one. Congrats!

Hahaha! That was one of my first thoughts and then a couple friends commented that they loved the colored lights on the score card. What's a guy to do? The purist in me dislikes them but the host in me wants visitors to be happy. Such a dilemma...

1973 Bally Nip-It is now 100% working and I just re-bulbed the whole machine with new #47's, #51's in the pop bumpers and some 5 fresh NOS GE #455's flashers (rare as hen's teeth) in the back glass to make "Bally" and "Nip-It" blink. This game only has 6500 original plays. Incredible condition!

Thanks for the tip and the number on those. I will keep an eye out for them.

I recently picked up a bunch of CEC brand #455s off ebay and they seem just as good as the old GEs. They even have the brass base.

I just picked this up yesterday on CL.
My holy grail machine. I guess I can stop collecting now.

The guy that sold it to me kept it professionally maintained.
Even though it is far from perfect, it plays great.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would score one of these!

Well then, pictures really do lie. That game looks sweet!

#6183 7 years ago

Edited this together in Photoshop from a photo I took at Pinfest. Unfortunately it had to be a bit compressed down so I could upload it here, but meant to represent the time shift between the olden times and today. Think it turned out pretty nice (and not just a simple filter)! Definitely helped the age effect that I had a nearly immaculate North Star next to my not-so-nearly-immaculate Domino!

A.K.A., I was bored and this was a really nice photo to do something with.

Less-compressed looks much nicer: http://i.imgur.com/ux2Olve.jpg

Nice pick-up, it's a fun game. Not so fond of the colored rings under the pops though. The colors seem too vibrant compared to the rest of the playfield and really stand out.

Yeah...not crazy about those.

#6186 7 years ago

I'm assuming they are just mylar rings and you can remove them? They're not painted on the playfield are they?

Yes. they can be easily removed.

I lost track of the hours I put into this one but it plays very snappy.

Picked up 3 in two days!

Quoted from amkoepfer:

Picked up 3 in two days!

Get those 31" legs for Aquarius! I showed up at Pinfest for Wedgehead row and my game was one of the only ones with legs too short and it certainly showed. Luckily I found a pair before it officially started, but they were too rusty to level it out so I ended up using the old back legs on the front of the machine with new 3" levelers jacked up as the new back legs didn't need to be adjusted anyways. Worked great. Looking forward to getting the correct legs just to make things right. Looked so much better raised up. It's weird though, kind of gives them an entirely different feeling after raising them up after having the wrong legs on it for so long. I almost kind of like them lower from a playing perspective but I'll get used to it. Cosmetically, they do look more proper from afar with the correct legs, though.

#6193 7 years ago

I sold 3 games this weekend. Now to finish those projects and bring them up to the gameroom.

#6194 7 years ago

Ya i definately need the right legs to mactch the rest of wedgehead row!

Thanks! At first I was a little bummed somebody had sanded all the cabinet art off, but it actually looks fine the way it is and there are so few of these that the chance of getting stencils are slim and none. I'll just live with it the way it is and eventually maybe one with a decent cabinet but blown out playfield and glass will show up. It really doesn't bother me though.

I will say this, each time I get another game designed by Harry Mabs, I gain a lot of respect for him. And I know he was one of the key inovators in the early days of flipper pinball. After all he invented them.

We put several games on it last night and it's an instant hit. Seems I've seen this guy before somewhere.
