Just got done doing a full restoration on this ‘64 Wing Ding AAB for a friend. Big, grateful thank you to O-din for providing me with the replacement chrome flippers. Paint job done by previous owner needs to be addressed in the future, (white latex with vinyl stickers used for design, missing silver fleck) but is passable for now. Machine was full of hacks, guy tried to retrofit Gottlieb flippers for Williams. Led to shafts binding up and torching the coil, tilt ball rollover switches used as flipper switches, loose post had long wood screws through them that resulted in breaking the neutral wire running around and under the playfield & on & on….

Damn goods great. The specks texture was the only thing i picked up on right off. Other than it looks probably better than when new. You could always mask off everything but the base white ...then flake, splatter or which ever is appropriate...the grayish silver.

Quoted from pevo: You could always mask off everything but the base white ...then flake, splatter or which ever is appropriate...the grayish silver.

That is exactly our plan. My friend was just excited to finally play it since I have had it since October.

That is an absolute beauty. Is that the original backglass or did you get one made?

#13707 78 days ago
Quoted from SilverLiningMan:

Original glass triple thicked and touched up, although I would rate it a 7-1/2 before I started. It was in really nice shape. You can see some of the touch up on above the 5 & 6. The worst part would be the girl on the bottom right. She was missing her left eye and eyebrow.

Just debugged my deep restored Fast Draw to 100%, every feature switch and bulb working as it should. I restored it a year ago along side my Quick Draw. Put all my effort into perfecting the two player and just now giving the 4 player its due respect.

I probably should have, but I never realized that the 4 player backbox is taller.

I didn't have a chance to take my usual finished pics as I sold this literally the minute I finished it. Anyway this was my most recent repair and refresh. Man I love replacing pop skirts...lol. Williams Darling.

Doodle Bug restore. First time touching up a bg. The metal all polished up real nicely. Mirror finish. Small touch up on pf. A buddy painted the cab.

I played DB on vacation in my young teens. Took all my dimes. Never forgot that game. Found this one at TPF last year.

This is my Williams, Grand Prix that I bought approximately two months ago. Paid dollar 450 and drove three hours to get it. It needed a bit of work but nothing too severe. Lots of cleaning got most of it done and some leaf switch adjustment. Had to manufacture a spring for the spinner unit cog. Other than replacing the flipper cranks and coils there isn’t too much else that isn’t original. Playfield, touchup and back glass sealing and minor touchup. Plays great now that I’ve waxed the playfield. It’s a game where you can rack up a huge score or have several gutter balls in a row. It’s fun when you’re hitting all the targets and ripping a good spinner shot.

ETA some before/after touch up shots and the spring manufactured for the cog.

I picked up this Williams Hotline last week. It needs a good cleaning but has nice bones. I'm relatively new to the EM's but that chime in the cabinet looks like a hack.... Is it a doorbell, Also, the shooter rod housing is plastic, is that original? I've only ever seen metal ones.
Curious how long they were using those.

[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Yeah, the doorbell chime is an add on.
The shooter housing seems correct. A lot of older Wms EMs use a nylon (plastic) housing.
Not a 100% guarantee, but Marco shows it as correct.

I had the logo printed on canvas from a picture, cost about $40, was mounted on a retangular wooden frame, and shipped from India, took about two weeks, and $40 included shipping. I then removed the canvas, modified the frame to align with the logo, added a plywood top, and remounted the canvas, finally added the LED neon strip, bought from Amazon for $15, and then attached around the edge using clear mirror clips. So maybe $70 worth of materials. I was originally going to stencil something and realized printing on canvas is fairly inexpensive and looks much better.

Thanks, I have another Williams (Big Deal) not showing on the far right. The Wedgeheads were all purchased within the last year, bought SuperSoccer, my first about 1979 with paper-route money when I was 12. So hobby is picking up steam.

I'm not sure the reasoning behind it. I picked it up that way. I considered stenciling and redoing the cab then realized it wasn't the original artwork. So it was nothing I could even scan to have Pinball Pimp make stencils for it.

My first EM pinball machine, thank you very much Mr Jack Burton for completely overhauling it for me, it works like clockwork.

Great machine, a beautiful game to look at and play, a piece of art without contest.
Love the vintage and colorful SF artwork.
