Quoted from ViperTim:

Working on this game.
Got the color files for the Pin2DMD installed. This game really does look great with it.
Got more LEDs installed under inserts - soon all are done.
But boy, this game is awfully designed underneath.
Never ever had a game with this make bulb sockets completely hidden behind subways and mechanics (ringmaster…).
It’s a bit of a PITA to work on..
Also I have issues with balls getting stuck in the subways… but I cannot find any obvious issues.
Seems like they get stuck on the bulb sockets for the five purple inserts below the ringmaster.
Also got it stuck in the far back (right loop).
[quoted image]

Balls can get stuck on wires but there are also a couple transistions from subway to the vuk and ringmaster to subway they can get hung up on when things aren't installed just right so double check those too.

Oh yes it was the transition from the subway to VUK.
But not because of alignment issues.
A zip tie from a wire loom was sticking up into the transition thus blocking the ball! My fault…

And I’m in! Skeptical on the number of plays, but it looks really new. A few adjustments needed, but the only thing I have to sort out is the backbox game didn’t work when it was in that mode. I’ve wanted one for a long time.

Yeah number of plays are meaningless but condition is awesome and that is all that matters.

Batteries were moved to the side and I bet that’s when it reset. Looks more like 100-200 plays to me. Now I need to sort out the solenoid that isn’t firing in the backbox.

Hopefully a easy fix. Is it all hooked up correctly?

I think it may be a transistor but will take a closer look tomorrow. I did get the solenoid to fire briefly.

Curious if the tub on the back of the backglass has any cracking by the coil since this was common. Since this is such a low play machine hoping not.

Good question there. Anyone have any ideas? Not sure if anything can be done. Mine has a piece of plexi to double up over the coil but mine is cracked.

Mine is cracked but I’m contemplating a layer of fiberglass over it.
But the damned plastic bulb holders is a pain as is and In afraid that with a thicker tub material it will be even worse.

#1966 1 year ago

Fiberglass or carbon seem like good ideas. I need to get the home rom for this game now. Looks like there is a sound upgrade as well, not sure where that goes.

The windings on that coil break very easily, I'd check to make sure it's not broken but maybe barely touching.

Wish PP would make these.

Is there any reason to get the sound roms? I am picking up the home rom 2.0. My machine says version 1.1.

Is a great machine and your is really neat (even better).

This is the answer, a wire in the coil itself is broken. Rather than take apart the coil and solder the break, I'm just replacing it.

#1972 1 year ago

The white tub was broken into pieces, i did it with fibre mat and epoxy. Also put a metal plate on it to make it more durable.

Painted it white... All good.

Greetings Dan

Would love to replace my tub as well if there was a remake. PP has to know the fragility of this part and hopefully it is on the list to be made again. Although mine is not bad I would still buy it and replace as after a while that thin plastic goes to pot. Hopefully!!??

Is this a common issue?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes I also had it happen often on my machine.
You can bend the vertical metal flat piece at the end a bit towards the ramp.

I will try to remember to take a picture of that for you on my machine.

I’ve got a question as well.
Is this really how the light socket should look like in the boom balloon? It looks odd and a regular bulb is too high and does not fit… it does not feel right.

My Ringmaster was a complete shitshow when it came to the wiring.
I built a new wiring harness and it’s all good now. Also put on protection on the metal edges so it won’t eat through the wiring.
It did work before but man it looked horrible and grease was everywhere.
A bit better now. Also realized that I’ve mounted the subway for the ringmaster wrong and that’s what been causing my mysteriously stuck balls.

Anyone interested in scrolls should go to the item on pps website and add their email to the “notify me when these are available” list. There was a round pps made about three years back and I held off because I hadn’t owned the game yet, but I knew I would eventually get one. Meanwhile I’ve emailed PPS and they said it was likely they would are then again in the future. They also posted something in this thread a year or so ago. So add your name to the notification list and when they see a bunch of people waiting on these I’m sure they’re more likely to get around to it.

Nice work. That mech is no laughing matter to work on, despite his mocking disposition. I took mine apart a year ago to replace the round metal base under him, as well as the ball basin with a mirrored chrome one. He cleaned up well!

Question for the group, I put the home rom 2.0 in and it played fine for a few games, but now it is doing “wow value increased” and shooting the cannon continuously. I’m assuming a switch error.

Edit:
Appears to be the spinner, will sort it out!

Hi all. I noticed the sound in my CV is lacking bass. This is my second CV by the way and both had the same issue so I guess it’s common for all. I wonder if anyone has done anything (other than pinsound or changing the speaker) to have fixed this. A long time ago, someone posted a link of a board resolder change to fix that issue but I can’t recall it.

This may not be the cheapest option. But my CV came with a pin sound board. The board has some EQ knobs as well as a “sub booster” knob it think it is called. I turned up the sub booster and it sounds really really good. Lots of bass from the cabinet sub.

I saw this posted and had to give it a try. I installed the 4.7k resistor and there is definitely more bass, but overall, the sound is very muffled and it sounds like shit! Adjusting the volume of the game only made it sound worse. Maybe a different value resistor would be better. I took the resistor out after 1 minute of gameplay.
