It's not that newbies don't realize they're not getting a good deal or don't care.
It's that pinball has suddenly and unexpectedly become four to five times as fun as it was a week ago.

He said that the Data East Star Wars was the "very first Star Wars pinball machine". Commonly thought to be true, but actually false.
Hankin 1980 Empire Strikes Back

and Segasa Sonic 1987 Star Wars

were first.
The guy said that "you'll never see this game again" implying I think that Lucky Seven is rare, but it's not. They made over 4000 of them.
Valencia is a rare prototype, but interestingly it only sold for $3,300. I understand that people not caring about rarity is nothing new, but in the context of this auction it's a bit surprising.
Quoted from EJS:It’s like she’s pretending to nudge but the machine doesn’t move a mm
Sometimes I do that. I'm too inhibited to get good at nudging.
Quoted from Pablito350:For every 3 or 4 Marylins I see 1 Lola.
Really? That's odd. Are you sure you don't mean that the other way around?
Quoted from EStroh:Supposedly Williams told the Monroe estate that they only made 100, so that they could minimize their liability for using her image. In fact, they make MUCH MORE than 100. Maybe half were actually Marlyn's.
Good info! I love pinball trivia, sometimes more than the actual playing of pinball.
Was Embryon really based on the movie Embryo? With the license and everything? I find that kind of hard to believe.
Quoted from uncivil_engineer:So Ive had my first instance of someone siting the Banning auction as justifying their high price. I'm still trying to come up with a clever reply that won't offend the seller so much that they stop returning my emails. I am thinking my reply should be something along the lines of: "Good luck getting your price, has your machine had much coverage in the NY Times?"
Don't be snarky, just share your perspective in plain language. The world has a surplus of snark and a deficit of earnest communication.
