Quoted from yancy:

Most complaints in the thread are overblown to me, but this would really bug me if it's very prevalent in the game.

You can let everyone know once you've got it setup at home.

Quoted from Ballderdash:

Also Fix said that after the API seminar at TPF they hope to get Steve Bowden playing on a live stream. Didn’t sound convincing though.

Quoted from PismoArcade:

Yeeeeaaah.....I'm not sure this stream is doing AP any favors. I just don't understand some of the decisions they make including this one.

So they have Steve Bowden on staff, and they clearly have some kind of a studio with lighting and cameras that they used for the green screen stuff, but they choose not to create a quality game play stream ahead of time? Their plan is to maybe do a stream at the show, with potentially crappy internet speeds? The AP sales and marketing team is just clueless. I feel bad for the design team to put in all of this work and have the rollout be a hot mess.

Quoted from reffob:

It looks fun, not digging that music though. Why dubstep?? 50's sci-fi would have really enhanced the theme

Because someone with zero understanding of the genre and its history (and how it peaked in the US years ago after being commercially over-exposed and people are really sick of it) thought the wubba wubba bass sounded sci-fi.

Look, this game is what it is. I don't want to be mean about it. But it's just really clear that the cultural sensibilities of the people making the decisions might be a bit out of step with a lot of folks. I respect that, really. But I think it's all fair game to have an opinion on still.

Shouldn't they be sending the LE's to Ukraine?

Yeah same here. Game overall looks pretty good, but that music has to go. Who thought that was a good idea?!

I just can't imagine what they were thinking?

These are thoughts I have every time I’m whittling toothpicks on Whoa Nellie…

Quoted from yancy:

Mostly I'm disappointed to learn that Vegas is boring these days.

Haha. No sir. Just in pre game mode right now. Relaxing drinking a few mimosas at 10:30 am

Already went over the Mirage for baseball draft order selection. Very exciting! #5 pick

And now heading over to the sportsbook to bet on my Horns!

Shaping up to be a great day in Vegas.

This thing called the internet? Man it makes it really easy to check in on what else is going on, since i can’t be at TPF!

Excitement everywhere

Quoted from Palmer:

You are dellusional. Please someone save this post as exhibit A when you explain buyer bias.

Please do. Save the entire log of Pinside for “buyer bias”. Lol

How the F are we gonna survive this travesty!!! The horror of it all. Just don’t know

You sir surpass JJP fan boys. Or your trolling us.

#3559 1 year ago

Until Carys stream I thought this thing was a corny corny joke.

After the stream...it looks like fun. Just a fun pin to shoot. I like the diverter and the upper ball lock. Kinda looking forward to seeing all of Kerri's callouts. Could use an "Intergalactic multiball" tho

Spicy! Slim chance of course, but at least they got a different playfield designer this time around. Trying to reserve judgement until I play it.

Carey seemed pretty exited ,but not so that he’ll miss his pork chop sammy in 20.

Shame. In the right game it would be great (TNA), but not this. I'm having a harder and harder time defending this. The 50s artwork was great. The gameplay could be good. But then you mix that fmv with the wrong music choice, and I sorta get flashbacks to Octoberfest and how that was a mixture of different art styles that didn't make sense together. They were close to greatness, but the different studios didnt come together. I think I'm a pass.

#3563 1 year ago

I mean this 100%: I'm sincerely happy that this game scratches the itch for some people. I really am.

Despite criticism, I want AP to succeed. More companies, producing more games, is a win.

I criticize, and I'm sure the majority do, b/c I struggle to see how making a game like this that caters to such a small crowd will ensure this company's existence for years to come. Payrolls need to be made, profits need to be made, and flops kill companies.

If I'm not mistaken, AP said they will be putting out THREE original themed games (so this is game one of that series, I suppose?). That seems completely delusional to me.

If they said, "We're going to put out two licensed games and one unlicensed game", I would still say that's risky. But I can at least see an argument being made for taking that approach.

But THREE unlicensed games? And especially when they are making such questionable choices with this game? I just...I just...yea... I'm sticking with the prediction I made a few months ago that they will be out of business in two years with this current plan.

Oktoberfest’s music choice was the first thing that came to mind after watching this newest stream.

At one point, they were rumored to be making Beetlejuice??? Not my favorite theme, but I can't help but think a license like that could withstand "questionable choices" in the design and still sell a whole lot more.

Considering the cow in the game figured you might have said udder disaster?

#3577 1 year ago

Why was there no cohesion with this project? The art is amazing. Why didn't they stick with that theming? It would have been amazing. But instead you have Sega cd acting and electronic music. None of it goes together. Why not have... gee I dunno... an over the top stereotypical cowboy do the call outs? Have a furniture liquidation multiball? Have a video mode where you play a tetris rip off.

I can hear what you're saying. "But Jorant, none of those things make sense together."

AND WHAT THEY GAVE US, HERE, DOES?!

Such a shame. So much potential. Wasted.

Methane is collected via the orbits, ramp and saucer/vuk -- note that the left orbit dead ends above the lanes and drops into the pops. The inserts in front of the tank show a color to indicate how much damage will be done. Once methane is collected one of the shots will flash Red which is the kill shot. On the first level, it is the center target. As you move through the tank levels the shots move around and their is also an enemy shield (arc shaped insert in front of the tank) which then hides the shot values, unless you have the right item from Plotnik's lab to see the weak spots of the shield. The amount of methane needed grows with each tank, on the first it is just one shot of methane. Certainly possible rules were tweaked after I was gone, so take all of this with a grain of salt. The magnet also does some cool stuff when the shield is active to keep the ball from hitting the tank.

Dennis wanted the dubstep I can tell when working on any game, you get tired of the music, but in this case, I wanted to pull my hair out, most of the time I just had it muted. The music will be different when in the Ice Cream Missions and multiballs, but can't say I ever heard any of it, other than for one of the mini-wizard modes, which is pretty funny and has some great music -- but I won't share the details at this time. FYI, Balcer wanted Oktoberfest meets heavy metal -- but that clearly did not work well and we moved a lot of the music to be more theme appropriate.

And yes the game is filled with tons of cow/milk jokes/puns.

Campy cow joke keeping with the theme. ....You fan boys never quit.

Edit: I saw John_I 's similar comment after posting my mine. - Sorry for milking the joke

This killed Oktoberfest for me when it came out. I was looking forward to tons of polka. I suppose the good stuff was to pricey? .ie "In Heaven there is no Beer." "I dont want her your can have her, shes to fat for me." However in the deluge of new pins this month, I bought an Oktoberfest. I forgive you AP and look forward to your next release.

#3592 1 year ago

so not sure which is the "industry first" the tank cabinet, the live action stuff or the total lack of game play video or something else we have yet to see?

I guess it can't be the game play, since seems that opening sales without game play seems to pretty common these days, but that sure that works on an unlicensed theme.

#3593 1 year ago

Do you think more of the industry will moove this way with their releases?

#3594 1 year ago
