Finally joined the club and completed the trio of terror! Was able to find a really nice one restored with CPR playfield. I can’t stop playing this pin over and over. The rules are so well crafted and who doesn’t like shooting these ramps? The 3 million shot gets your blood pumping, as does the 3rd ball lock and trying to put a ramp combo together during multiball. I love that this game has no ball save and no sympathy for you when you have one of those 45 second games where you barely touch the ball. This game has that “just one more game” allure in spades.

Thanks! I looked around for awhile before I found a collector near me who is a talented pinball restorer. We talked about me possibly buying his EATPM for 6 months before we agreed. I had sticker shock at first, but now I realize it was a smart buy. Plus I had EHoH and a restored SS, so I was able to complete the trifecta! I love all three Elvira pins.

#1384 3 years ago

So awesome. I want to learn how to do that.

That one should be fun to restore. I bought a restored Party Monsters last year and I love it. Such a great game and start to the trilogy!

Quoted from djblouw:

These are no longer available. You’ll need to have the extension rod welded back on. I had mine laser welded, so it looked clean.

How did it turn out?

Quoted from djblouw:

There’s someone here on pinside that offers a welding service at affordable rates. Just send it to him, rather than risking screwing it up with the wrong tools.

Ha. Very good. I miss this game!

You did an awesome thing helping me complete the trio of terror!

On a happier note, I just purchased a new playfield, mirrored backglass, and plastics set from CPR. New ramps from Starship Fantasy, and cabinet decals from Gameroom Guys. The fun will begin soon.

I didn’t do the work myself so I can’t take any credit, a talented collector in west Michigan did the restore on my EATPM with new playfield, mirrored backglass, and any new parts, ramps, decals it needed and re-wrapped all coils with correct values. It’s such a beautiful game!

Someone bought an entire MRS set for their EATPM restore....will be curious to see how the performance of the pin is when complete.....

I put them on both ramps and they work great. The key is placing them in the best location for the ball to get as close as possible to the magnet. On EATPM I decided to place them under the ramps.

Restore is going pretty well. Cabinet and head are basically done. Haven't touched the playfield yet. I think my fix for the plastic below the backglass turned out amazing. Couldn't be happier.

Cab is back together. Playfield swap is proving to be a bit tedious but coming along nicely.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Gonna be a killer pin when it’s done. I love the colors on the EATPM playfield. Something to be proud of for sure. Someday I’ll attempt a full restore with a new playfield. Right now I’m adding RadCals to my TOTAN and FT. ToTAN has a CPR playfield and FT has a restored playfield with a new clear coat. Your EATPM should be awesome!

Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

That cover definitely should not be crooked from left to right. I'm restoring mine now and it was straight at teardown, straight at rebuild. It looks like maybe your post spacer at rear right is too tall, or screwed down in the wrong spot. It's a very tricky tight squeeze back there.
[quoted image]

Mine looks pretty straight too. Mine is restored, not original, so I suppose it could have been adjusted. I removed mine to install an MRS switch on the Monster Slide ramp entrance. As you can see from the pic, there is no micro (cherry) switch there anymore. The cover was a bit tricky to put back.

I finally had a really solid game on EATPM with 2 multiball jackpots and a 3M bonus. Cracked the top 20! Most of my games are 45 seconds long with 2 balls lost almost immediately. Elvira is a punishing lady on this deck.

Quoted from kyle5574:

I replaced my Monster Slide ramp-entry gate switch with an MRS from M&M Creations

I did the same, it’s a fantastic option! I’ve installed MRS in place of micro switches on a few pins and they are an excellent alternative! Awesome product for tricky switches.

Quoted from kyle5574:

I installed new ramps from Starship Fantasy. My original ramps were still holding up, but they were starting to crack. Install was a bit more work than I expected, but they turned out real nice.

Nice job, these ramps are so huge and no doubt tricky to install. This game is awesome. My display is apparently gassed, and I’m awaiting a new green one from Xpin. I hear the green looks great on this game.

#1535 2 years ago

My camera doesn’t capture how green this new display is. It’s very bright and very green! My original display gassed out. I installed an Xpin replacement yesterday and I’m very happy with it. Took me 15 mins to swap them. Green fits this theme.

Quoted from Enchantress:

Pinkitten where did you get your display? Green has been on back order forever.

From Xpin. They were on back order when I ordered mine too, for about a month. They just got some in. I’m not sure if they are sold out again or not. If you email them they are very responsive.

#1540 2 years ago
Quoted from Enchantress:

Damn, I’ve been checking with them every few months for almost a year.

It looks like they have orange and white in stock, and blue, green and red on back order. You might need to order one to be sure you get one when they come in.

Quoted from Enchantress:

Besides some other overdue upgrades, our EATPM pins could definitely benefit from Cliffy’s. Trough feed, shooter lane, party punch upkick and most of all boogie men upkick. In speaking with Cliff, he would completely be into creating these for all of us to benefit from, but he’s in need of a used playfield. Putting this out there to see if anyone would be willing to loan or sell their old PF so that all of our pins will stay in tip top.

Cliffys for EATPM would be awesome! I would love a set. I don’t have a backup PF but I wish I did.

Quoted from Enchantress:

Yeah they have been out of stock for years. Those are slightly different from OEM, missing the (typically broken) front right tab and teeth are different. We are some crafty dudes, I know this is possible!?!

Could someone who has experience with molds make a cast of the skull, which could be used to pour a material that would harden? A friend of mine works in injection molding, but I’m sure that’s a very different thing. What about the companies that have made things like the repro mountains on White Water, they don’t seem much different.

#1647 2 years ago
Quoted from Enchantress:

Yeah they have been out of stock for years.

There is one skull cave on EBay with a few boogie men, but it’s $249.00.

#1650 2 years ago
Quoted from Enchantress:

Pinkitten do you know which company re-pros those Whitewater mountains? I’ll spend some time inquiring to see what I can come up with.

I would start with Planetary Pinball. They have offered the brown repro mountains and they still offer the painted white/snow version of them. They might have a source for them who could maybe make the skull cave.

Quoted from Rcarpen22:

Hi all. I just picked up an Elvira and the Party Monsters which was at the top of my wish list. Always really liked this game. It's a pretty nice example, but has a few things that need to be addressed. The biggest issue is the left display is cutting off the top line or two of characters. The easiest solution seems to be just go with LED replacements. I did a search on this thread, but did not see any discussion of the relative brands. From a general search of the forum, there doesn't seem to be a significant difference in quality between the various brands (XPin, Rottendog, PinScore, etc.) However, I thought I'd see if anyone here has experience replacing these and which might most faithfully recreate the font/characters and color of the originals. Or just any general opinions on quality and ease of installation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
[quoted image]

I agree with Scribbles, try reseating and you might solve that issue. If you do decide you need/want a new display, I went with an Xpin in mine, and I’m very happy with it. I chose green LEDs, which I like a lot. But they make several colors, including orange. Here is how mine looks. I forgot to add the 2 pieces of tape that minimize bleeding between the LEDs, but you still get the idea.

Quoted from Rcarpen22:

Yeah, I read that some folks got rid of the high voltage board when they installed LED display, but doesn’t seem to cause any issues if you don’t. I’m still learning electronics, so wasn’t sure if supplying too much voltage would be an issue.

I didn’t see anything on the Xpin site, so I just installed the new displays. No issues so far, but if someone knows if something should be altered, that would be good to know.

I decided to try a few of the anodized lock nuts on EATPM. Not cost-effective to overuse them, but here and there they are pretty nice on certain pins.

Say it with me, I solemnly swear to have an EATPM set up for the neighbors to play next Halloween.

Actually, that made me think…I live in a subdivision. There are 75 or 80 homes here. Probably 125-150 kids. We usually get between 60-80 trick or treaters. I should really consider opening my basement to the neighborhood kids and making it a haunted pinball basement. I bet it would be a big hit!

I must bid farewell to my fellow party monsters group. As of today, my fully restored EATPM has a new home (sort of). I bought it from a friend of mine who deeply regretted selling it. It was ROUGH. I did a full restoration. I mean cab down to bare wood restore. He made me promise if I ever sold it, he got first dibs. Well, I got an EHOH recently and I need money and space for my incoming Scooby, so we agreed on a price. She's now back to her former residence. The good news is, he's local and I can go play it anytime I want. Still hate to see her go...
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That’s a beauty! A local collector and friend of mine restored his EATPM a few years ago, and I bought it in 2020. It’s restored top to bottom like yours, and even has a Kruzman clear coated pf. I sleep underneath it at night just to make sure it doesn’t get away.

Quoted from Beechwood:

Yours was the best Elvira I've ever played or seen. Maybe I need to ask Daane to do a 3rd restore

Daane does an awesome job. I am good at certain things like light restorations, cabinet repair, etc. He’s great at full tear downs and rebuilds. Regarding the Monster Slide switch talk above, I used an MRS switch from Matt under the center of the ramp, at about the same spot as the micro switch was. It registers great and was needed after I added a metal Cliffy to the side edge of the plastic ramp. The switch sat too high and was too tight to operate correctly. The MRS was the solution. I kept the gate anyway because it felt more authentic or something. And now my ramp entrance won’t crack either!

Quoted from tiltmonster:

Interesting, so you have the MRS switch but kept the original switch in place?

No. I have an MRS switch under the ramp, but didn’t remove the gate. The original micro switch is gone.

#1805 1 year ago
Quoted from Mr_Outlane:

It looks better without the gate there IMO.
So, am I understanding correctly that the Cliffy ramp protectors cause issue with the roll under gates?
I just got the Cliffy's in the mail yeaterday.

It did for me. The Cliffy for the right side of the Monster Slide ramp attaches at the screw where the switch is. When you add the extra thickness of the Cliffy, it can affect how much room there is for the switch arm to work. I couldn’t get mine to reliably work. So I ordered an MRS switch and that worked out great. But it might not be an issue for your ramp or for other people. See how it goes when you install the Cliffy.

Right. It was only an issue on the left ramp for me.

Quoted from Mr_Outlane:

Speaking of powder coat, the coin door is beat up and needs a repaint. Is powder coat the way to go? I could just clean it up and hit it with Rustoleum.
If powder coat, is it best to send it to a company that does pinball powder coating, or anyone in the local area? I never did this before.
Thanks!

Steve at Pinball Refinery does an excellent job. He’s in Muskegon. He’s pretty high end, not especially cheap, but certainly high quality. If you can find a local powder coater, you can prob save some bucks. You’ll want the coin door media blasted to take it down to bare metal first. Steve does that first. But you can certainly try doing it yourself and painting the door. It’s awesome seeing pins restored and returned to the pinball community.

Hey all.
Does anyone have a 23" CPR edition topper for sale? I could order the whole plastic kit and sell the rest but checking here first.
Also, does anyone have a replacement ball gate (metal flap) for the BBQ kick-out? I think that my whole assembly is fine but the gate/flap is not the right one. This one is likely hand cut and mostly prevents the ball from passing under, towards the top roll-over lanes.
Thanks in advance. [quoted image]

I've got this coming in trade this weekend. What are some of the best mods to make the game play better? Not saying there's anything wrong with a stock machine!

Some people have replaced the classic micro Cherry switches at the entry of both ramps to MRI (magnetic reed) switches. I did, and I like them better. No switch gate to affect the ball path. This game needs few mods, imho. I did add some plastic protectors and anodized lock nuts. A mirrored backglass is nice, but not necessary. My alphanumeric displays were gassed, so I installed new green ones from Xpin. They have a few colors, white, orange, green, red. Others may have ideas.

I bought a few Comet "fire bulbs" and put them under the cauldron and hot dog that's on fire. It makes a cheap, easy improvement to the backglass. I bought the CPR mirrored backglass but I was a little disappointed that the mirroring areas didn't really stand out that much.

I did the same thing a couple years ago. Fire bulbs behind the bbq and flaming hot dog on the cpr back glass. I know some have had issues with the “mirror” areas not being reflective. I can share that I just bought 2 CPR mirrored glasses, for TZ and Space shuttle. Both did have reflective areas. Here is my SS glass. I’ll have to check my eatpm glass to see if it’s reflective or not.

That looks LOADS better than mine, to be fair I purchased mine years ago but also know of someone who purchased within the last year or 2 and had the same basically silver paint experience as me. Maybe they changed their process!!!! That would be great. Maybe we got old stock.

Hopefully they heard the chatter here or received feedback and upped the quality. A “mirrored” back glass needs to have a mirror finish. Silver paint would indeed be a cheat, if not outright fraud. Heck, I remember winning REO Speedwagon mirrored art at the fair in the 80’s by popping balloons with darts. I’m saving it for the 2025 Stern REO Speedwagon pinball.

Just got my EATPM!

What does the green xpin actually look like? Every pic I see makes it look weird. I expect the xpin to look like the EATPM green but it comes off a little washed out and bluish green in pics. What green would you compare it to with your eyeballs. I'm going back and forth between red or green and red looks good for sure but green I've never seen in person.

I really like the green, personally. It looks a bit better in person. My phone didn’t capture the green well. It’s also crisper than in the pic. I’m not a fan of red, so green was an easy choice for me. I think it looks great.

The post man had a special delivery for me today new playfield looks great!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Beautiful playfield. I think they did a fantastic job with the art and color scheme on eatpm. The bright green for the crypt kicker/skull mountain lock, purple for the pops and a sorta sunburst for the center area. It’s colorful without being overly so, which I feel some recent Stern pins are guilty of. Venom, FF, GZ, TMNT, etc. Instead of a certain dominant color or colors, it seems Stern simply selects “all.” It does afford lots of options for powder coating tho! All 3 Elvira pins have very cool, very different art packages. I love the look of SS’s cabinet, and its unique 3D backbox. And 3 very good examples of 3 different eras - alpha numeric solid state, then mid-90’s dmd, then “modern” lcd with a very innovative haunted house mech. All cool games. Good luck w the new playfield!
