Finally got a Whirlwind! Looks like it will clean up nicely. Seems like repro plastics are hard to find though. Anyone know if these will be re-run at some point?

I scored an unopened set of CPR plastics! But now I'm a bit worried about the pinbits set not holding up to the abuse.
Quoted from indypinhead:I designed/cnc machined all my WW protectors out of 1/16 polycarbonate.
I've never seen/heard of any of my protectors breaking.
I purchased indypinhead's custom protectors for my BSD- they look great and seem stronger than the typical protectors. I would absolutely love to buy a set for Whirlwind. Maybe if there is enough demand he'd produce a run of sets. Anyone else needing these?
I won the set for $213 and paid immediately after auction ended, so I hope that it was mailed.
I'm not a big ebayer, this was my first auction in what seems like a decade. Can the seller see bids? Because I bid higher than 213 and was pleasantly surprised when it ended.
Does anyone have a detailed set of reassembly pictures? I'd really like to compare some of the posts I have and figure out where some of the smaller plastics go.
Plastic set from ebay arrived safely.
Thanks for the pics. Damn nice clean machine! Whirlwind is really hitting the spot for me... been missing some sys11 goodness.
About to start cleaning whirlwind. If I wanted to remove the disks does it make more sense to desolder the 2 wires on the small board, or do the disks easily remove with the plastic nut twisted off?
Looking good Dante. Cab looks very nice.
Can anyone please post a close up detail pic of the inlane ball drop area? I need to touch mine up a bit. I'm tempted to go for a new playfield, but I think this one still has plenty of life left in it.
Couple of questions for whirlwind owners- does this look correct to have 1 large spacer and 1 small spacer on this plastic? Seems like it's bending them up and I was wondering if there should be 2 large spacers on that piece.
Can someone please post a picture of where these two small cloud pieces are in your game? I think one of these belongs in the center near the yellow pops, but I'm not sure which one and I don't know where the other one fits. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Just finishing up now with 3 pieces of mylar pulled. I feel like I've stepped into a time machine, seeing the original playfield. I was pretty happy, the only casualty was this insert that got a bit ripped at the R. My family can't wait for me to get this back together, but it will be another few weeks.
Are the metal posts at the top of the slings supposed to be taller than the star posts at the bottom? If so, why?
Quoted from simplykind:Im in the middle of it now. SUCKS! Tryin to rub it with alcohol and flour. My fingers are going to be raw, having my doubts.
First, I think you're lucky that the lower half had mylar- mine did not and there is some insert wear there. Doesn't really bug me too much but it will hurt when it's time to trade. Second, as someone who just went through the mylar removal using the same method all I can say is pace yourself and try not to do it all in one weekend. My fingers literally split and I had to wait a couple of weeks in between sessions.
I also had to use a bit of goo gone and plastic razor blades on the inserts, the glue was just too strong there.
