Quoted from transprtr4u:

Thanks again DumbAss

I love how sarcastic genuinely appreciative comments to DumbAss seem because of his name haha. It's like forced irony.

One of the most trusted and informative users here gets comments like "Thanks for your opinion, @Dumbass".

Not sure of the origin of the name, but I appreciate it the chuckle when it presents well.

I would have replaced all four diodes.

I would like to thank GRUMPY TomInTweed DumbAss and anyone else that threw in their 2cents for helping me solve my latest issue.
I learned a guys.
Just so you know your knowledge and help isn't lost on me.
I was able to repair a trace
test replace diodes, coils, transistors

Whirlwind is up and running again. Yeah!

So back to making my WW look pretty now that I repaired my bonehead move of soldering with the power on.
I finally got a great paint match and while I want it too look good, at this time I'm not stripping and redoing the entire pin. I' just sanding filling and touching up some of it. The white areas are next maybe, I'm not sure I can do anything to clean them up more than I have.

If I could find some plastic U channel for the back box I'd like to do that and kind of frame it with a different color.

I might even powder coat the legs, lock down, side rails and hinge? White maybe? (thoughts on that idea?)

thats a great idea. and easier.
And better yet I have some here from a previous project. LOL

Quoted from Gunner007:

Yes ... CPR, bronze, the back story is the project was purchased in pieces, with tons of parts missing.
Found a wiring harness with no switches, have a second harness being shipped that has the switches and brackets plus the missing diverter.
The first harness has the complete board set with number matching, look to be in great shape however will be sent out for a deep dive inspection.
Lots of hunting for parts, basically has to turned into a near from scratch build.
Of course wanted to get the GI sockets and wiring in today but the order came with the wrong sockets .

Going to be a long road, will be like new when done.

Upside is my urge to buy anything else project or other will be a long time coming .

On my right ramp the upper switch is not working. The lock light is also not working. When I check the matrix in the book, they are both in the same column. Is this just a coincidence? Those are the only two things on the game that aren't working.

#5418 26 days ago

Two different things.

Check switch in Tests - Switch Edge - does it work when pushed ? If so needs adjusting, if not check for broken wires there or other switches next to it on the same row or column.

Lamp - Tests - All Lamps - is it getting power ? If not check for broken wires. If so check bulb and socket. If it's a twist in black plastic base that snaps into a circuit board, reflow the solder on the pins the connector plugs onto.

LTG : )

Pretty sure it is this one with the long arm. I remember getting that error but it not affecting gameplay. I was able to adjust the arm on mine to get that error to go away, but it eventually came back. After replacing the switch I haven't had any issues. It's in a weird spot to work on. Good luck.

Hoping this helps you, just rebuilt this mech this weekend.
The pictures are from a second mech that was in the jigsaw Whirlwind I'm working on currently..
It's in a tough spot!
Perhaps the blade isn't triggering your switch.?

I've rebuilt and now just put in all new flipper parts for the right side flipper. the ball has a hard time making the left ramp. It looks like everything is optimal. But its almost impossilbe to get. maybe 10% of the time. Hard to get a decent score if you can't hit make it. Same goes for my roller games on the magnet flip only.
Frustrating. LOL

Is the ramp entrance damaged? If it is, it will rob the ball of momentum as it flexes. Otherwise, it may be the alignment of the flipper bat

No damage the ball seems to shoot straight up but loses momentum.
Or has just enough to make the entire loop when it does.

Your EOS may be gapped improperly then, (possible it’s cutting high power too early)

Run a file on the EOS switch contacts to make sure they are clean. Make sure there is enough pressure on the contacts when closed. Make sure that the contacts hit each other squarely in both axises.

still need large plastic piece that goes across top of the back above the playfield, guy never came through on here.

Little help ... anyone have any clues as how to remove the gear from the motor on the spinning disc?

Had to use a bit more force than I thought It needed.

Tons of crud keeping it in place , it's off and ready for a deep scrub !

Opens just at the end of the stroke.
But I'll also check gumpy suggestion

#5435 21 days ago
Quoted from ChadH:

Is anyone going to MGC? If so, check out my Whirlwind with a PIG 2 controlled shaker motor in it. It really integrates well with the game play and thunder sound effects. It will be next to the DK Pinball booth.

Any suggestions how to do this, I can't find a pig2 anymore.

Before and after of the spinning wheel assembly.
My local decal girl will recreate the leveling decal.

So has anyone got the 2.0 kit installed? I'm wondering if they have done updates to improve it and make it better. I will be doing a playfield swap on mine this year. I'm trying to judge if the kit is worth anything or better of sticking with the original only.

Thanks
Conrad

The latest code update does make it better than it was right at launch. Time will tell how good it becomes in the end but the planned auto-launcher will make the game significantly better. There have been no firmware updates since October.
