Quoted from MrMikeman:So do we. I spend a lot of time with her in the day. She gets to rule the house 2-3 hours every evening when we lock up the 3 trouble makers.
We had real acceptance issues between Charlie and the kittens. Urinating and poo marking. All that shit, haha. It got better after a year or so. Now they all coexist. They’re not besties and there is teasing from the kittens now and then. They herd him and pounce on him. There’s some hitting back and forth now and then. But in winter they will all climb onto the same lap and now and then there is communal washing. My advice is to have communal treat giving. That’s where they all behave and are nice together. Communal licking of plates, spoons and hands. Get their mouths together. It’s not easy and they will never be best friends. Just what i found. Your situation may be completely different. But we went from full growling, hissing and attacking to something that is sort of harmonious. Then again we combined a fully fledged Alpha male with 2 boy kittens. We weren’t combining fully grown cats. But Charlie is no longer the Alpha male. He’s now accepted that.
I also had them in separate sleeping rooms for a few months then in they all went together in the same room at night. There were a few fights for the first few weeks but they eventually put up with each other.
Merry Christmas to you, your family and all your cats!
