Quoted from mjs2:

MSRP is expensive and they are changing a $5000 premium on models since they have a limited production run.

Where are you being quoted a $5K premium? There are dealers down here in Northern VA where you can get them for 5% UNDER INVOICE. Sounds like a 3-4 hour drive would save you enough to pick up a new Stern LE.

#452 4 years ago

Cherry hill had that on there site two weeks ago. Slimy organization.

I actually Worked with Craig at Koons when I bought my 2 door and we almost worked with him again for my wife’s 4door. They just did not have the package we wanted and they were at least 6 weeks out for a custom build at that time. Nothing but good experience both on when we purchased and when we told them that we had to pass on my wife’s.

Just have to keep a eye out on their docking fees.

What kind of wheeling do you guys do out in Florida? It's so flat...

It rains a lot so there's the occasional puddle to splash through.....
I have heard there are some fun trails in the everglades, no hills but sand, mud, and nature.
It's my first wrangler, going to a Jeep meet up in a few weeks so hope to meet some folks and find out where people go.
I grew up in NM so nothing here will compare to what we were able to do off road out there but it sure is fun to drive around in and wave at other jeeps! ✌️

Back in the Jeep Club. Been about 5 years since my last Jeep. Picked up a '98 Wrangler - Sahara w/41k miles. Having a Jeep provides easier backcountry access some of the higher peaks for hiking/climbing and high lakes for fishing.

I got my birthday present a little early. The perfect accessory for my DEJP. It is a nearly screen accurate (still waiting on the light bar to be fabricated) JP29 that I got to be the towed behind my EM-50 motorhome (from the movie Stripes) that is being built.

How much better are the 2018 and later Wranglers?

All of the reviewers seem to rave about them. What do you guys think?

What kind of context are you referring to? Better how vs what?
Skip the 3.8L gen of the JK, unless you want to do a v8 swap. The 3.6l JK/U is pretty solid. Mine had a coolant smell which I hear is common with pin hole radiator leaks. But I got rid of mine for a truck :/ miss it.

Anyone get a gladiator yet? Bed is 5' long so it "should" fit a pin, but I haven't heard.....

Drivability on the highway, fit/finish, overall build quality.
Things most Jeep buyers I’m guessing don’t care too much about.

Anyone in a Gladiator yet? Been thinking about trading in the Tacoma. Only thing holding me back is I wish the Gladiator had a 6' bed.

I sat in a new JLU. Nicer interior, cool new comforts but same quality and chassis? So idk if you can afford a JL it’s a nice upgrade so you can have creature comforts and a wrangler

Quoted from gliebig:

I'm looking.

Never been a Jeep owner but am on my second Ridgeline (2013 currently). Not an offroader (hence the Ridgeline) but do use the bed a lot and like the additional hauling capability of the Jeep. Love my truck but not really a fan of the newer Ridgeline body-style, and the Gladiator looks amazing.

Will probably wait a year or two for the demand to drop a bit.

Main question I have is regarding the top options: Soft vs hard plastic vs body-color hard. Would probably have top on during week for commuting, off for weekends. Live in Florida so: 1) It's HOT, and 2) It rains a LOT.

Thoughts on top preference?

I have 19 JLUM. Love it. My thought is for FL, go with the soft top. They easily go down and up now. Not sure, but would the the gladiator is even easier. I would think if you have the top up because of heat, the A.C. will keep it cool enough.
Also check out wrangler forums. There are at least a couple. Lots of good info. Pm me if you want to know which ones i use.

Finally got mine in! Ordered on 9/26th and arrived at dealer on 10/31st. Great experience and having a blast so far hitting the local trails in AZ.

Haha, for sure! I did get it off road on an OHV trail so got to put it in 4H and disconnect the sway bar this weekend. Looking forward to many more adventures.

The TJ I passed on buying from my FIL went to my SIL and now it broke in my driveway after I put a new coil pack on (random engine/power) cutting out when driving, can’t find fix yet. But after the coil pack I heard a dripping.....water pump finally burned through the gasket. Then the radiator was seeping; got new radiator, water pump, hoses and then Figured mind as well do the valve cover gasket.... sooo I hope to have this fixed by Xmas for her at least things are decently easy to wrench on

That back bolt sucks without being able to put the hood all the way back. A support beam in my ceiling blocked the hood :/

Got it done, just broke some of the breather pipes so I’ll need new rubber boots on the Pcv side.

Back to water pump, radiator and thermostat housing time

Haven't been here in awhile nice to see the jeep thread still going. I am all bunkered down for the winter. Although it's almost 60 here in Indiana. Really haven't played much pinball lately either. Happy holidays to to all of you jeeper/pinheads. We need to ask stern to make us a Jeep pin. I will leave ya this find back in March.

Holy moly, got this fixed last week and it runs and has no leaks! It was a great Xmas present for my sister in law to her her Jeep back!

This summer I’ll do the axle seals and drive line seals. Maybe the rear main....

Here is my test driving copilot

Anyone in the club have experience with the axle shudder/wobble? I have a 2018 JL 2d and with just under 11k started to experience the shaking at highway speeds. I've read that some accept and learn to live with. Is this true? TBH it's quite unnerving and a little dangerous when it starts to shake and you are being trailed by semi trucks. Especially given you have to slow down to around 50 MPH to get it to stop. Just looking for thoughts and other experiences.

I have a 18’ 4 door JL rubi and haven’t experienced the so called death wobble on this Jeep but my 12’ JKU rubi had it. There was a safety recall on the JL’s to prevent this. It fixed improperly installed hardware and added additional bolts I think.

We noticed it on our 2019 Wrangler when it was colder out after driving on unpaved roads. Hasn't happened since we had the steering damper recall service performed.

According to the dealer I’ve had the dampening device installed. Although I’m not quite sure I trust them as I caught them in a flat out lie today. Dropped off the car on Monday. They said they couldn’t recreate the shaking. When I went to pick it up my odometer hadn’t changed at all.

#498 4 years ago

You should be able to look it up by vin.

Call a different dealer. Ask for service. Give them the vin. And your future business.

Hasn’t happened on by 19 JLUM yet, but only have 6k miles. Have taken it wheelin though.

I plan on it. Although I have to admit I’m still in shock a little due to the lies. Love the vehicle despite this little hiccup

Ya, a good dealer can make up for a bad car, and a bad dealer can make you hate a brand :/
