Good luck. Could be many things but hopefully an easy fix - alignment - poor tire wear (do you rotate every 3-5k miles) - incorrect torque on suspension bolts, bent sway bar.

Question: how bad is the shake? When I used to get mine it was bad - could not even hang on to the steering wheel bad - and always had to come to a complete stop before it went away. Luckily only happened a couple times and was when I put on a lift and 35s. However, it was always caused by a pot hole or larger bump, never just came on.

As stated go to another dealer and hopefully they can pin point the issue. It will show in the system that you were at another dealer previously for the issue when they run your vin so don’t get caught in the lie game that they play.

Hope it all works out.

Thanks. Its bone stock and brand new. Only had two oil changes thus far and had the tires rotated as part of the 2nd one. It’s to the point where at expressway speeds say 68-72 mph I will hit a bump or crack in the pavement and it will start shaking. I then have to slow down to around 50 and it will stop...Thankfully. It’s quite violent and unnerving. I’m still able to keep hold of the wheel though. Trying another dealer tomorrow. Funnily enough the dealer I had trouble with just called and wants another chance. I guess they hated the bad review

What a cool looking piece of history. Good luck with the restore.

Anyone in the club have experience with the axle shudder/wobble? I have a 2018 JL 2d and with just under 11k started to experience the shaking at highway speeds.

This is a great article on the Death Wobble. https://www.4wheelparts.com/the-dirt/how-to-cure-death-wobble/

Add a steering stabilizer..

Buddy of mine bought a 18? and had the same thing happen new. I think you'll need to be able to video or get a ride along with the shop guy to validate. But if you need to use a different dealer too.

Well a new jeep under b2b shouldn't have this issue....although common... My 16 never did so I'm not sure what it feels like to happen on the highway..which I can only assume is partially scary.

I once saw a newer jeep on the highway near Kansas City on the highway get like lock to lock death wobbles in the steering at around 65. She slowed down to around 45 then sped back up with out getting out to look. I was like WTF did I just see and why would you keep going. It looked bad from behind. You could see the front wheels going back and forth.

Not exactly a rod. Rat yes, as a matter of fact it's been christened the "Rat Patrol"
Keeping drivetrain bone stock.... 6.00-16 tires, 3-speed, & 60hp "go devil" four cylinder.
Only optional equipment on this is a passenger seat & a driver's side (only) heater. Oh, & someone added locking hubs....

Rare 1945 with column shift. Serial #10559. It's been heavily restored though. I love the look of the old patina on yours.

That sounds about right. It’s not fun and honestly I’m sure it stresses the suspension system as a whole.

Put my soft-top on for the first time. Using the Racor hoist to store the hard top and freedom panels and works like a champ. First Jeep and having a blast! Kids/wife seem to at least be tolerating it for now.

I have a Grand Cherokee now, but in three years when my son gets his license I plan to give it to him and get myself a wrangler. I'm always mentally "picking out the one I want" and yours is now in first place! Awesome color, what is it called?

Thanks guys! It is Ocean Blue Metallic. I actually had it ceramic coated with feynlab which makes it really pop even more. I can get it real dirty during the day and then dress it up for a night out on the town. Lovin it!!!

My friend is a mopar tech and I think he was saying that engine was not good.... I can’t remember correctly but the idea is fantastic just needs some time to have a good one. I’m guess it’s like the 3.8

My parents offered us their 2000 Wrangler Sport 4.0 with 45k miles for $5k. Was Mom's (old lady) car purely for getting around town. It's in nice shape.

I'm 6'5" and barely fit in the damn thing, but at that price I told them we'll take it. Thinking my wife can have some fun with it.

Haha. Her main concern for the kids was does it have rear AC vents, that sealed the deal! She didn’t understand the Jeep thing at first but there are just so many places to go in AZ to take advantage of having an Offroad vehicle, we have been having a blast!

What model year gmc palm beach is it?[quoted image][quoted image]

Sorry for the delayed response, I have not opened this thread in a long time.

Mine is not a Palm Beach, it is a 1977 Eleganza II. One of the last to get the Olds 455 before the switch over to the 403. Here is a picture of it hooked up to tow my JKU daily driver before the renovation, and a picture of where the renovation was about a month ago. The EM-50 paint is mostly done, except for the various hatches, the new dash is in, the engine and transmission are back from the rebuilders, the upholstery and flooring has been redone, but lots of little things remain. It has been a 2 year process so far and was expected to be finished this summer/fall, but now with the corona virus that is to be determined.

There is a little more about the EM-50 project and my Jurassic Park Jeep on Instagram @jurassicstripes

When you take the doors off, I recommend those derlin bushings so your door pin doesn’t corrode/rust into the hinge and you can never get it out :-p

I’ve heard many a story of people using a jack to put pressure on the door and then it shoots into the air

I have always had a Jeep or three in my driveway for the last 25 years.

What I can remember I have had almost every body style of the CJs including YJs and TJs

Here is my last one I have right now. 46 CJ-2a. Completely original except 12v system. I have had it for 25 years and will always be in my garage! My favorite by far.

It is on the trailer because I moved recently and it hadn’t run in a few years because of my divorce. However after a fresh battery and gas it started in about 3 cranks.

Also in a picture of my 94 that I rolled. Hit ice slid sideways, launched off of a 30 cliff. Walked a way with a broke shoulder from the seat belt, but the seat belt saved my life.

Pink Floyd comfortably numb was playing in the CD player ironically!!!

Love the original Willy's, that's what 3 generations of our family learned to drive on!

I also should have stated when I said completely original the drive train and most of the body. Different front bumper and parking lights.

Yup, '46 should have the recessed bullet type park lamps. My very early '47 has them

Key is to get rid of that straight 6 and buy a 2007 or later. Gained so much leg room between the 2.

Broke my thumb and a crushed the nail doing this

And cheaper Harley mirrors make great replacement for the years where they are attached to the doors.

I have an 09 right now and I agree. Although my height is mostly legs, so it is tight still. It’s a summer vehicle though so I only put the doors on once a year to drive it to storage. Maybe since I’m not accustomed to them is why they feel so intrusive. I drove a 15 unlimited for a couple years as a daily driver and don’t remember feeling too restricted in that.

Ohhh ouch! I had done some forum reading before picking up my 16' and ordered the bushings before it was delivered, and that was my first mod. Didn't ever want to fight with that. Blows my mind Jeep still puts the aluminum sleeves in the steel hinges.

One of my responses to the pandemic was to pick up this '77 CJ7 so I would have something to work on while they paid me to stay home. It's a solid body and frame and came with a good running 304 and full cast iron 3 speed and transfer case, all working great.

However, it needed a clutch so being the easier way is to just pull the motor, I decided to go with a 360 I got out of a Grand Wagoneer instead. I am no stranger to this routine as I built and owned several AMC Jeep products in the 90s and 2000s, but sold them all off 15 years ago. One of the last one being an '86 CJ7 with a 401 and a T18.

AMC V8s are basically all the same on the outside with the exception of the flywheels and balancers which are specifically balanced to each engine size, and will replace most any 6 cyl with no special adapters. There are no more easy and cheap to find 401s, so the 360 is the next best thing as parts are more readily available as well. They made a ton of them.

It was certainly easier to round up what I like to use in '90s, but after about 15- 20 different sources I got everything I need. Honed and cleaned the block today and should be able to pick up the crank and heads from the machine shop tomorrow.

WARNING- IT'S A JEEP THING, YOU MAY NOT UNDERSTAND
