Thought this group would appreciate my latest pickup, a neon that matches my drinking preference (local IPAs mostly). Picked up NIB from a local brewery who had an extra. These were custom made by the Ohio Craft Brewer's Association and only offered to local breweries.

Does the serial number tell the year? ‘89
    [quoted image][quoted image]

No, the numbers on a transformer/power supply usually have no relevance to the sign itself as they were made separate to the sign.

Look on the backside of the sign for a small white (by now it will be yellowish in color) decal. These usually fell off over time but you may find it. They usually will reflect the year and then Anheuser Busch name after the year.

This sign was massed produce over the years so it wasn't a one and done sign.

    #2055 10 months ago

Well, meSz you’re right. There was a sticker! I’ll pretend it says 1989 as it’s smeared.

Thanks! It was a very long game .. 48 minutes from what I recall. Helps to have the latest code (beta I think) - they reworked the score balancing and difficulty.

    Quoted from northvibe:

Pulled the switch off. It’s a 6 pin dpdt, middle two are common. I found a replacement that the legs are a mm off but it is otherwise the same.

I have a few on order and I’ll use the original pull string.
    [quoted image][quoted image]

Added 5 days ago: Wrong switch from digitkey, it is momentary so it won’t click

This is the EXACT fit/replacement. not sure how my multimeter was off but the unit fit perfect and the pull cord is off and on again. time to clean it up and give it to my FIL.

I was driving around in California and my eye caught a neon sign for a craft beer bar. It was a giant red neon sign and it said 'Craft Beer Spoken Here'. Months went by and I could not forget about this neon sign and slogan. I have always wanted a custom neon in my game room but I was not sure what I wanted it to say? Did I want it just to say pinball? Then I had a thought about that neon sign I saw in California and decided to make it my own. I purchased it off Amazon from one of the custom LED neon sign makers. I chose my favorite color and am very happy with it. It comes with a remote control that dims/brightens and has multiple flashing effects.

Not a real neon-but hard to tell the difference and it was inexpensive to make-very happy with results(lights up entire room)...

I was very fortunate to spot a picture that seemed odd in a listing. Poor quality etc.
Cue an odd exchange after purchasing, a request for 10 euro extra for postage, which also seemed odd, but something about it told me it was genuine, so I went ahead and sent the 10 euro direct via PayPal. After a bit of a wait, a large box arrived. The neon angels were watching over the package as it made its way from Germany to Ireland, though it had been extremely well wrapped in various soft foam etc.

Some very dusty signs that had not been cleaned I suspect since they were originally put in

First one up - this one had some poor scratching on the front acrylic, browning at acrylic bends etc.

As a pinhead, of course I broke out the novus. After polishing out the scratches with novus 2, cleaning inside etc, it is actually quite sparkly with almost no blemishes. Delighted.

Local Facebook marketplace finally turned up some gold; Mike's neon sign and a Blue Point LED sign that needed a power brick for little money.

The Bud Light sign was tossed in for free as the seller had no idea some tubes were broken. I was able to reroute the cabling and verify the "Bud" section worked which I'll turn into a small sign if not countertop unit.

What do you folks think about this Craigslist ad, priced to high? I'm an avid 49er fan and would like to purchase for the man cave. Looks really clean, guessing either switch or transformer is the culprit. Thoughts?

The date codes on transformers didn’t start until the 1960’s on my signs. Anything older is just a WAG unless someone knows of something more definitive. A couple of my Budweiser neons with no code except for the ruby red zipper which is around 1970.

First time I have scored some used neon back to back! The BUSCH neon is very vibrant! Not a fan of the florescent sign but it was a package, odds are i'll put up for sale in the near future so ping me if interested in buying or trade for a small neon sign or something.
