It is, there is a Corona one that looks even better.

I love animated and blinking signs, there used to be everywhere but now you never see them. I have a blinking High Life sign.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:TWO S.T.U.N. runners? Lucky!
Chris
Ha, yeah I picked a nonworking one up as a project for cheap then a working one was listed shortly after. (of course) The working one will help finding which board in the stack of the non working one is the problem.

$30 sign pick up. I’ve had an eye out for a multicolored parrot for a while. A lot of these you see broken are in the tail feathers. This one is broken at the C on Corona.
I’m going to bypass it for now but I’d imagine a lot of the Corona signs used that same size piece.
This isn’t the coolest multicolored parrot they made, but still worthy of the NEON Wall.

(Test flicker with the break)
Quoted from meSz:ebay.com link: itm
Thanks for looking, ‘Corona’ is all one piece on this one.
Quoted from thepinballworks:I am in need of the parrot on this one. Tail broken. If anyone knows of a place to get one let me know.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Yeah that’s where most get broken because there is no protection from the end of the tail feather getting hit from the side.
Quoted from thepinballworks:So close. My parrot is all one tube. I thought you found it.
Thanks
Yeah, he's using the wrong reference sign in that last photo, its from a different style parrot sign.
Quoted from Phillips88:Needed to add a new transformer for this Narragansett neon
[quoted image]
Looks like one of those signs that would have been hanging in a widow with the transformer remotely mounted.
I have a 50's Pink oval Coors sign that had that setup.
It was a great weekend for garage sale and Craigslist neon pick ups.

First lot was all non working so I have some work ahead of me. (But all that was $40!)
I’m really glad to have that Bowtie Guitar. My dad used to have one in his collection when I was younger.
Where do you guys like to get your replacement tube sections from?
What I really need to is find a local neon glass guy.
Quoted from northvibe:I know it’s just led neon but it lights similar. Still looking for neon for my basement, I keep finding neons for others :-p
[quoted image]
LED ≠ Neon.
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Paid a visit to the TNT crew with Mermink
We had a great time!
I finally beat down Todd enough and bought some Neon from him!
Kate convinced me to get this one over the “1¢ Candy” sign[quoted image]
Now I’m gonna hang this up and leave it on 24/7. Never turn off any of my other signs down here. Maybe I’m misinformed but that should be perfectly fine and not detrimental to the sign, correct?
Also scored this unusual “salesman sample” display piece. It’s handmade.
[quoted image]
This picture is from 2020 and it was very bright and vibrant up on a shelf in the office. Now it’s very dim and the amber tube keeps going in and out. The Purple Green Pink & Blue are all one solid tube, then it daisy chains over to the amber and red tube. The red is the brightest, and the amber blinks on and off. If you put your hand near it or put the power cord near it the tube lights up. [quoted image]
Zero knowledge on Neon. What is the issue and how can I fix it?
[quoted image] it looks bright but even in 100% darkness it’s very dim. Like your phone with the brightness all the way down.
My last question is this strange bulb:[quoted image]
It hasn’t worked for a long long time. Not sure if the tube leaked or if it’s got an internal transformer of some sort. It has a switch that says “flow/on”
Any idea what it is and where I can buy a replacement or how to fix it?
I have 3 or 4 other broken Neon signs I’ve inherited or picked up in my travels. I’d like to get them fixed later. Are there any neon repair places in Upstate New York?
Nice pickup!
Transformers and tubes only have so many hours of life in them, its a lot but it is finite. If you leave it on 24/7 something will eventually fail.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Nice! I was going to bid on a blue moon neon last week but the auction company pulled the lot. Wasn't as nice as yours. Never heard of blue moon before.
You’ve never heard of blue moon beer?
It’s not as popular as it was 10+ years ago but man it was a big deal.
Quoted from TheDarkKnight68:[quoted image][quoted image]
For a non neon sign that BUSCH one is decent looking.
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:There have been plenty of true neon signs posted, and plenty of argon signs posted. Argon gives off a ton of ultraviolet light which reacts with the phosphor coatings to give such vibrant colors. Just because it’s no relying on the bare red color of neon without any modifiers, doesn’t mean it’s not a true neon/argon/noble gas sign.
Neon signs are great.
As long as its not LED I love it.
My favorite in my collection as far as unique color goes is a Coors oval sign from the 60's The oval is white phosphorus tube but its filled with Neon gas so it glows an awesome old timey pink color.
Its ones of the old school window signs were the transformer would have been mounted on the ceiling and wires ran down to the sign. Keeps its minimal. Glass standoffs and everything.
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:[quoted image][quoted image]
Did you just get that in Denver? I considered getting it after it was relisted for the second time for the uniqueness of it but thought for the size it was a bit much.
Quoted from TheGunnett:I purchased this from BadaBing signs on Etsy
[quoted image][quoted image]
For LEDs (Ew) it has a decent neon look.
Quoted from TeamUp:Dude we are twins!!!
This is an original from my dad's bar which closed in 2004 and was in the front window since the early 90's!!
Very rare neon that for me has alot of history!
[quoted image]
They are hard to find, my dad used to have one in his Neon collection. Glad to have one in my collection.
Quoted from yzfguy:LED neon lights.... They look cool, but calling them neons makes me cringe.
Agreed, they should be barred from posting in this thread.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:The Molson and Goldschlager are “real” neon. The Williams and Yuengling are from China.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Great looking signs.
The outer circle is the common break point on those bluemoon signs, I bet you could find the "BLUE" wording section.
Some times you can get lucky and find one on ebay.
Quoted from KING-HENRY:Hey, at least mine is custom! Lol, I get it.
Cool thing about my sign is I can really put it to long-term use if I start up an arcade at some point.
Real neon signs last decades. LEDs may use less power but I doubt they will last longer.
Quoted from Kderrick:Wow, Is neon snobbery a real thing? I’m going to be the all LED guy now! Nothing but custom Etsy shop signs for me!!
This isn't the "Show us your LED glare" thread, its the "NEON show us your glow" thread.
Quoted from Gundam_Pilot_:I thought I shared this one but apparently not. Never seen one before, I’d love to know if anyone else has obviously it needs cleaned up
[quoted image][quoted image]
That is a sweet neon.
Been a while since I've checked in this thread, had ~130 new posts, lots of cool neons added. We almost made it the three new pages without an LED sign... (lol)
I recently added a Neon to a location I'm operating some pins at, there was a noticeable increase in quarters in coin boxes after it went up.
I made a cardboard template and used it to cut out the vinyl the location had up over the windows.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Need a little help lost my glow on a sign during a tournament. Thought a coil smoked on a game but later realized a sign was no longer on. Here is the transformer. Tried to contact neon tech to buy a replacement but no luck getting ahold of them.
Does this one from amazon look like it would work as a replacement?[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Yes, that one will work.
Quoted from hockeymag8:Original 6 wall 5/8 done.
[quoted image]
What's up with the brown paper circles?
Quoted from PhilGreg:It looks like they made this for a single show
Looks real too...
[quoted image]
Here's another:
[quoted image]
I guess they reuse the same letters? Still, pretty insane...
First photo looks like LED. they almost have the styling right on the large letters but not quite. The small letters give it away.
Someone should start a LED sign thread for folks to post these icky LED things. This is the GLASS Neon sign thread.
Quoted from ralphs007:Does anyone know the year this Fat Tire was manufactured ? The seller said it authentic, but not sure of the year it was made. He also said it's like new. Does anyone know what kind of markings this sign would have on it, proving its authentic?
A fellow pinsider said that an older Fat Tire would be labeled Antigo and a newer one would say Zeon, which was bought by Antigo.
Thanks in advance
Ralph
[quoted image]
If the price is right it doesn’t make much difference on those modern signs who makes it.
When that comes into play is like the Pabst blue ribbon sign, the older original ones are more valuable.
But fat tire is a 2000’s brand isn’t it?
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Can a tube go bad and not be broken? The power supply went out during a tournament so didn’t see it happen but smelled it and figured it out end of day when I shut everything off. Order a new power supply and everything but bottom tube works. Used my tube tester and nothing on bottom tub but also can’t find a break. Was working pre power supply dying.
[quoted image]
Yes electrodes can go bad especially on newer signs. Check the rubber boots on both ends of that tube and see if any are melted looking.
Another thing that can happen is the wire at the end of the electrode can get surface corrosion causing a bad connection, and sometimes the paint left over from when they dip the back in paint can cause a bad connection because it’s not scraped off thoroughly.
It’s possible your old transformer was more powerful to get through those situations but the new one isn’t. Remove both boots from the ends of that tube (carefully!) and scrape away any paint or corrosion found to ensure a good connection.
Quoted from gdonovan:Need a replacement for an Enhance America EH-9030A transformer, looking at Ebay what the heck do you order? Rated for 30mA and 6365 Vrms
Just get something in the same KV 7,000 9,000 etc.
Quoted from bobwiley:Does anyone know why they use thinner tubes in China?
Cheaper and lighter to ship.
Quoted from daveyvandy:Got a few put up today![quoted image]
Those are cool but LEDs are not Neon.
Quoted from pinmister:I was driving around in California and my eye caught a neon sign for a craft beer bar. It was a giant red neon sign and it said 'Craft Beer Spoken Here'. Months went by and I could not forget about this neon sign and slogan. I have always wanted a custom neon in my game room but I was not sure what I wanted it to say? Did I want it just to say pinball? Then I had a thought about that neon sign I saw in California and decided to make it my own. I purchased it off Amazon from one of the custom LED neon sign makers. I chose my favorite color and am very happy with it. It comes with a remote control that dims/brightens and has multiple flashing effects.
Not a real neon-but hard to tell the difference and it was inexpensive to make-very happy with results(lights up entire room)...
[quoted image][quoted image]
Very easy to tell that's not real NEON.
