That does look way better.
Another cool thing about the BKSOR Pre at Ground Kontrol is that they placed the magna save button next to the right flipper button. That’s seems like a must do mod as well.

That’s cool. Do you have any info on that magna save mod?

I guess I should have been more clear. I don’t have the CN9 connector cable.

You can make your own connector pretty easily. What is it for?

#5103 1 year ago

I have no info other than the machine at Ground Kontrol has the magna save button next to the right flipper button on side of cab just like the OG Black Knight next to it and how my RM had.

I might be able to go back today if they open. They have been closed because of the snow storm. If they do open I’ll take pics of button mod and report back. Here are the machines they have though:

So the BKSoR Premium hasx two problems my Pro had not and I'd like to ask for help.

Main thing is, the center target very quickly leans to the side and then stops registering. I remember there was some kind of hardware fix/ clamp thingy for that but I can't find it. If someone would put me in the right direction I'd appreciate that.

The other problem ist the right flipper having problem making the ramp, that's self explanatory... have to rebuild the flipper these days.

I do not seem to have the CN9 DBA connector inside my LE. Any idea why it would be missing? I bought this NIB and all of my other Sterns have it.

Quoted from madamyates:

I guess I should have been more clear. I don’t have the CN9 connector cable.

Stern did not start adding a connector to the CN9 cabinet node connection until Avengers: Infinity Quest. I guess before then, it was up to folks to find or make their own connector to plug in there.

Out of curiosity, you are looking to use it for a +12vdc bill validator? I know that is what it is intended for, but as someone that has sold light kits that has used that CN9 connection for power since SPIKE 1 was released.....I have never heard of anyone needing it or anyone using a +12vdc bill acceptor for that matter. All of the ops that I have sold light kits to have used +110vac bill validators (which obviously, do not use that +12vdc CN9 connection).

Having an issue where in mode activation, the shield either won't come up or does come up but then randomly goes down during play and blocks the scoop, meaning mode activation impossible. It always-always goes up and stays up if you drain, at the start of the next ball. Any clues on where to begin investigation? Tried searching forum but results were all over the place picking up on random keywords. Appreciate it!

The shield should only be up when mystery or mode or lock is lit.

If it is not going up at those times, then perhaps something going on with the opto for it? I have not heard of this issue.

Ya it does 95% of the time go up initially but then just kinda falls down, like the shield is too heavy

Looks like there is an allen key lock on the shaft to move it up. That would be my guess to tighten this?

Doesn’t appear to be a mechanical problem with set screws or anything; everything tight in shield assembly. I think it may be a weak coil that drops the shield as shield up is coil activation. I’ll test resistance with a multimeter to see if anything funny. Opinions on if it could make sense the coil strong enough to open/close strongly but weak enough to not hold while activated?

I’ve not been into a SPIKE system but if it was a SAM game I’d be checking the power transistor that drives that coil

Installed my new sword ramp mod. This thing looks like it came from the Stern Factory. It’s very well made/designed. Definite improvement to game play.

I'm more intrigued by the spinal columns hanging along side the machine...more specifically, where they came from.

Those are from the never to be released Predator pin. Or if they aren't, they were inspired by them.

One needs to take out a transistor from the PCB to test, correct? I don’t think you can test them connected and in-line. I’m not sure a DMM would work either, if I remember correctly from my engineering days long ago; oscilloscope?

I don’t bother testing them. They are cheap and easy enough to change. If suspect one is weak I just swap it.

Now I’m second guessing myself; should the flail be moving 1 step at a time about every 3-5 seconds during attract mode? I hear the stepper motor moving a click and can see the flail rotate the tiniest bit.

If not supposed to occur may be a lead to why my flail is randomly stopping during spinning (during gameplay and self test). Thoughts on what to check for that? Could be related to shield issue.

Thinking this might be a loose connection somewhere as shield was fixed for a few hours today until I had to move it to try and fix flail issue, which occurred during addressing shield issue, and now shield issue back after moving/futzing pin again.

I got a pro BKSOR recently. This game is so damn good. I can’t believe I didn’t get one of these sooner. My wife and kids even love it which was surprising to me (minus the two pieces of painters tape we needed to cover the skeleton eyes on the front haha)

Congrats! I LOVE this pin. Between all the pins I own including GZ, IM, JP, etc. it’s still got a special place in my heart as the true favorite. Many of my kids go to as well. FUN!

I just noticed the flail motor steps at the same time all GI goes out and flashers come on for a brief second so likely some short/grounding issues. I just reseated every connector under the playfield and the issue went away, for now.

Most likely there was a miscommunication between the nodes due to a loose connection at the Ethernet cable.

#5127 1 year ago
Quoted from Shogun00:

I noticed an intermittent hissing sound coming from node board 9 that was in sync with issue (opposing sync) and through process of elimination disconnecting CN3 stops hissing and the flail issue.

Looks like that goes to node board 9a so need to eliminate variables there now and find source of issue. While I had CN3 disconnected, it takes out most all of the upper playfield lights, but I noticed it went dark-dark up there when I switching WAR lane lights; found out that rapidly hitting right flipper button is causing it to all go dark back/up there, so may need to trace that all out too.

Making progress!

Eh… ended up being a red herring. Found out the hissing can take a couple minutes to “build up” so ended up following potential leads a little too quickly. Eventually every lead has proven itself false even when “correct” 95% of the time. Only thing that works is disconnecting power to node 9 but want to isolate more before I do any rip and replace on any other potential red herring.

Just want to say hello as being a new owner of BKSOR pro. I love this game!!! As being just Knighted I don't want to stop! LOL. I would like to replace the speakes as they don't seem that good. What would be some good ones short of $$ pinwoofer.

#5132 1 year ago

What is the fix for this? If I shake the game, it will come loose.

I think these work great. I upgrade all my premiums to match the LE.

You’ll need more than the speakers. New speaker grills, gaskets, plastic stands, colored plastic. Very easy upgrade.

I found a NIB Topper but have no idea what they are going for now- whats the market price on these right now? It's BNIB.

I am going to TPF and can deliver it there. Or could ship - still have the original shipping box.
$650

I was told to post here... I have a mint/sealed NIB BKSOR Topper that I can bring to the Texas Pinball Festival. I did NOT pay MSRP and am into it for almost my asking price also. I bought this for a machine and just never got around to installing it because of COVID. My BKSOR was traded and I figured I'd get an LE some day... but that was before prices went nuts on them.

$3000 cash in person. Works great because you get to the topper in person and don't have to worry about shipping.

First come, first served. These are super rare and THE best topper in pinball (my opinion).

I really thought about buying that game, just taking the topper for myself and then selling the LE seperately. Id love to have the topper(ive owned it in the past when I had a premium), but 3k is a bit much. Id probably buy one if I saw for 2500 ish tops just because my LE looks lonely without it. And BK and R2D2 could talk to eachother.

Autolauncher .. Grr. BKSOR LE. Second one. First was a covid rental second was an LE with topper. This thing has been rock solid aside from the BK target moving.

Recently the auto launch stopped randomly making it all of the way up. Fingers on the ball look good. Polished the shooter lane. Balls are new. Just replaced the coil and sleeve. Same thing. Mech seems solid. Same as AIQ. Even tried the slowmo on the cellphone but it seems to shoot straight up with no ricochet.

Manual plunge is fine. But that really doesn't play into any of this. WTF am I missing?
