Quick thoughts on the new rules.

Some of these Modes are super hard to complete lots of shots!! I think the new forcing you to stay in the mode makes it a lot harder to spell Knights as that requires less shots than completing the mode, yet you are stuck in the mode until you beat it.

How about this an option to continue the mode after you drain or opt out. Also instead of starting the same mode again when you timeout maybe just move on to the next one again.

So for example if you know you are one shot away you can keep going and beat the mode, but if you already got you knight letter but have a long way to go you can work towards another KNIGHT letter.

The Black Knight is IN THE HOUSE!! Thankfully a couple buddies came over and got it downstairs. Wasn’t ready to test the new hip on it. Great looking game. Setting up now.

need some help kids... please... was playing BK:SoR tonight and locked the first ball in the catapult, then it started a three ball multiball... after they drained, the catapult no longer recognizes when you put a ball in there. it goes into ball search.

if you power off the machine and back on, the catapult mech makes all of these cycling noises, then i get the error you see attached below on the screen.

any ideas?

this is the first real problem i have had on any of my NIB sterns. thanks for any help in advance. (figured i would try here before i emailed my distro...)

My guess is bad opto in there.

Yup or micro switch if there is one in there. If you trigger it in switch test does it show correctly?

I had a screw fall out of my opto boards in the catapult. If that happened the boards get mis-aligned and you might see an error like that.
Put blue thread locker on all 4 of them. it's 4 top screws to take the plastic off, then 4 little screws for the opto boards.

btw

did anyone else notice they stopped shipping the bill acceptor cables with spike 2 games. Spent like an hour looking for the one I thought, I misplaced on munsters... Then remembered to check this time with BK. Guess it makes sense, since most people don't use it... still sucks another 10 bucks.

I called stern and they sent me one for free. They said they stopped including them with munsters.

I made a horrible mistake :/. I removed my upper play field to install a protector and upon reinstalling I broke one of the metal posts used to secure it . It seems that these posts are really soft aluminum and with barely any force it was able to sheer off the entire thread portion into the female post you screw into.

Does anyone know what posts are being used for the male and female versions? I can’t get to the female version right now because it is too hard to hold the upper play field while unscrewing it.

Best to just contact stern and get the exact one. But Marco has these as well. Just have to hope you can find the same size.

Quoted from DANGERTERROR:

Put a playfield protector on today. Very easy.
Remove: Flips, slingshot plastics, wireform, backboard (yes, the whole backboard). This will allow you to bend the pf protector into place. No hangup issues on this one.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I have a couple of additional comments to add to this (at least on my game).

- To remove the backboard, start by flipping the playfield up into the service position and slowly remove the three long wood screws going from the underside of the backboard into the backboard itself.
- Once those screws are removed, put the playfield back down and remove the four machine screws holding the backboard to the interior metal brackets. Be prepared to hold the backboard as it will drop once those machine screws are removed...also to note, the "ball gates" will come along with it which could scratch the plastic if you are not careful.
- When placing the protector, start at the VUK on the righthand side. Loop the protector around that VUK and then work the plastic until you can stretch it around and under the ramp at the back of the playfield. This seems impossible but carefully bending the protector without creasing it won't cause any harm.
- You will realize that the shield area and area under the spinner don't obviously fit. Again, carful bending will allow you to feed the protector right under these two items. I started with the shield and worked my way back to the spinner.
- Lastly, when replacing the upper playfield (if Prem or LE) be extremely careful in tightening the two hex posts which hold it in place. They seem to be aluminum and are easily snapped with a tiny big of pressure.

Hopefully this helps someone else .

Stern said they would send me a few. They said you might be able to find them, but they aren't sure. The service guy (Chas) was super helpful and said he would just send them as part of normal warranty support. Now I just have to wait :/.

Quoted from John_I:

While unpacking, I was surprised to see how sturdy the cabinets are now. Even the bottom board is super nice 3/4 inch plywood. In comparison my Star Wars has 1/2 inch particle board. There are plenty of corner braces now too.[quoted image]

Noticed the same thing. Stern made a lot of improvements with the new construction of these cabinets.

Am I missing it, or are there not plastic protector sets out for the LE?

None that I've seen. I'd imagine LSOG will have some soon. Also, the playfield protector people make full sets and they are just getting back from vacation.

Anyone have issues with the shield/knights VUK shooting the ball up to the ramp having the ball bounce off the wireform? It happens once in 20 shots...then sometimes twice in a row. I've tried bending the metal loop and changing the VUK power. If the power is too low, if multiple balls are back there it can't eject them to the wireform. Just seeing if anyone has this issue and if you got it working right.

Sorry I implied playfield protectors but meant plastic protectors. They have a huge set for Pro and I would expect a set for the premiums/LE. There are a ton of tiny plastics on this game that I worry about!

I just wanted to put a plug in as well about powder coating this machine.... I'm now doing all of my powder coating at my shop so turn around times are better.

I'm currently working on 3 Black Knight LEs for customers and I picked a sweet color for the machine and ramps, here's a few pictures and a video of the coin door.

If anyone is interested I can do this for you, just send me a PM or email.

Thanks,

Steve

So having the chance to have my No fear *almost* (1 game apart) from BKsorLE, I have to say, when your on your on, otherwise you brick hard. Steve R makes some great games. The flow on these are very similar- almost more then the original BK series. Anyone else notice/think that?

Has anyone noticed the back right plastic is bent? I assume Stern manufactured these incorrectly then just went with it?

Don't mind the goofy excitement. Courtesy of the "Zach Attack" ( ZMeny ) at Flip N Out pinball, she arrived. 60 games already. Can't stop playing. It is one of those games that just begs to be played "one more time."

Only issue I have noticed is a sudden clicking in the flail mech when it is spinning. Anyone notice this? I searched and couldn't find anything and 530 posts is a lot to wade through. Yet to pop the hood and investigate. Might be something simple, but thought I'd ask first.

Great game. Lovin it.

Indeed. I was fortunate enough to tour the factory a week or so ago with Dwight Sullivan and they showed off the new cabinets. Melamine style coating over the wood is prefinished and ready to apply the decals, decreasing the labor to prep it and giving a consistent finish. This may have started before Black Knight, but I thought I would mention it. I know it is a somewhat recent development. They were churning out BKSOR and DP's at a staggering rate when I was there. Come to find out, ironically enough, my machine was on the line while I was there.

For the record, the tour is great if you haven't been, and Dwight, if you are lucky enough to have him give the tour, is a class act.

How is the mini pf removed from main pf on the LE to access rubber rings below it?

I'm getting serious hang up issues with the ball coming thru the "R" lane in the WAR rollovers. Ball gets caught between the left and right rubber just below the switch. It is snug and there and will *not* work loose easily. I need to get a smaller rubber ring on the right or lower mini post on left.

I had the same problem but it’s not really the runners. The switch slot is cut too deep and the ball settles in the slot.

I adjusted the post to the right and the ball still got stuck. I had to put a couple layers of Mylar on to get the ball to flow through.

Ok- so how do you remove the mini PF to access the lower PF?

Super ***WOW*** @pinupgirl1975!!! No offense to the artists at Stern, but I like the look of these a *LOT* better than the blades you get from the factory with the LE.

But now the MILLION DOLLAR question from me once again: are you folks going to do these as PowerBlades too?

Although I don't own a Munsters, I absolutely love the lightning effects you've created with the Power version of those. I can only imagine how even more incredible these would look on BKSOR if they had appropriate illumination effects too.

I think they would also "complete" the interior of the play field cabinet really well. Because now (since the fire already burns on the playfield back panel), the sides would have animated light effects too!. All three interior cabinet sides that the player sees would have light effects!!!

Please tell me this is going to happen. Fingers crossed!!!

Hey TheRudyB Yes...We will have them made as powerbladez but we need at least 10 pre-orders to make it go into production. We haven't received our animation yet, and I believe it's coming on Monday.

But, I will lower the price to $249 for A Fathers Day Sale to the first 10 people that pre-order TODAY June 16 ONLY without seeing the animation! This ends at midnight. (Regular price is $299)

Send me a PM with BKSOR POWERBLADEZ IN THE SUBJECT and your contact details for an invoice. THIS DEAL IS ONLY FOR BKSOR POWERBLADEZ ONLY

Can you add an external sub to these game just by alligator clipping onto the existing sub posts?

Just put the game in the basement yesterday and this is the first thing I'm thinking about.
