Wow, this machine is extremely unique. It is difficult, it is fast, it is addictive. You don't often see it in the wild and I suspect many ratings are based on the virtual pin. The real one is much more difficult and trickier, it is a heavy beast so forget nudging.

Negatives, The sound becomes repetitive after a while and the clacking of the gate on the right while in attract mode becomes irritating, but there seems to be a fix for that.

Fun and Fast, tough game if setup well. The music and professional call-outs make you feel being part of the race. Has some jokes and silly modes, always engaging. The car on the right top acts as a shaker motor, hit the right ramp repetitively till you can't.

Try it, even if you don't like the theme you will enjoy this machine.

Some say Hot Wheels is the remake, if that is true, the original is better.

Amazing machine, the spinning disks, the fan, perfect theming, fun call-outs, great music. Too bad the music after entering your high-score stops so soon. Great playfield layout, many tricky shots.

The only thing that would improve it is deeper rules for home use, hopefully someone builds a replacement ROM or some other way to add an alternative rule-set.

One of the best games ever, but even better with PinSound and ColorDMD, or just wait till there is a remake.

This is a fun pin. Long games, but really fun. The theme is right up my alley. I just got it, with the improved code V1.01 so I can only judge it as presently coded and I will say that it has great flow, plenty of diversion, great musical and images and particularly very much liked by inexperience pinball players. Don't get me wrong, it is a challenging pin; but an inexperience pinball player can enjoy the pin and feel good about the play.

Picked this one up a little over a year ago and then jumped on a reproduction playfield. I've moved the game into the shop area so it is officially out of commission until the swap is done but it was still on its legs for over a year and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to getting the swap done to fix some of the poor experiences I never bothered to fix like cupped inserts and a slingshot not working, a missing post, normal stuff for a well warn game.

This is my first 80's Stern and I picked it up because so many people I know own the game and rave about it. I can see the appeal for sure. Haven't had a wide body in the house but I don't feel it plays like a wide body, plenty of action and fast paced game play for my liking. The bingo cards and drop targets are a fun combination and keeps the game fresh. The double stacked flippers are also a first for me in home use and they are a nice added element for me too. For an 80's game the scoring rules are engaging, I look forward to having the swap behind me so I can really enjoy this title to its max!

One of the GREAT GREAT games of its era. Hell, of ANY era.

Bought this game after Elwin's other two successful machines. What a let down. From the shoots to horrible code.

One of the best first effort pins every in my opinion. The game looks like it came from a manufacturer with decades of experience.

Game play is very decent but the sound effect are a bit annoying and I would say there is anything exciting about the game play. Generally speaking it plays a lot like a Bally Williams game which is a good thing. Weakest part of this effort is the theme, the move is not good. That said I will still always play one if I see it on location as it's a rare bird - hopefully we see one at the local pinball show.

The pin that started it all. I was recently able to upgrade my premium to the LE. Just one of the absolute greatest pins of all time. Whenever I’m tired of or frustrated with my other pins I can always come back to this one and have a blast. The modes are simple in theory but not easy to complete. Love the art package and mirrored backglass on this one. The ramps are super rewarding to combo and the flow is great. Up the Irons!

Really feel like this nailed the throwback trend and gives an excellent counterpoint to the empty-middle, chopping wood code monsters that have become the norm. Fast play, hard shots, drain post bounces, great callouts, this game is never boring! Really hope its success breeds more challenging, shorter playing games back to the table.

Pros: Cool theme, fun layout, risk/reward shots, and overall high challenge make this a great game for solo or competition play. Blowing it up is very rewarding as the shots are tight and unforgiving.

Cons: The mode start shot is really finicky and angled a little weird, I like that it's a tough shot, but it feels imprecise at times. Also, the modes are wildly imbalanced, as Clean Your Car will basically win any game while the Twist Contest is worth garbage. Guessing this will be fixed in a code update.

Took me awhile to get into this game and understand the rules. Still could use some polish on the code (especially for the long pauses to catch up on annimations) which is defiantly coming. But, I really starting figuring things out and developing a strategy. I've had a ton of fun getting to know the game!

Iron Man is not as deep as some other modern DMD Sterns, but that makes it more fun for the casual player. Do or Die and Jericho are both reachable without having to work so hard. Overall it has decent flow. Outlanes are on the hungrier side.
Sounds and animations do a great job integrating the movie into gameplay. Iron Monger is a great bash toy, especially with the magnet randomizing the ball. Love how War Machine fires it right back at you. Right ramp can be difficult to make. Good value game for the money.

Star Wars is arguably the perfect theme for pinball. So many different SW themed pins over the years, but this one is easily the best. Always a favorite of guests since it's an easy game to approach. Movie modes are integrated perfectly into gameplay. The sights and sounds just bring you right back to the movies. Hyperloop is really cool but can be a difficult shot to make. Decreasing the pitch may help. Center bank of tie fighter targets is a SDTM risk. Left Outlane is extremely hungry too. Overall, if you're a Star Wars fan, you can't go wrong with this pin.

TSPP is a fun, well-integrated theme for pinball. Lots of interesting and challenging shots, though not a flow type game at all. Love the execution of the garage and upper playfield/couch. Very satisfying earning couch multiball. Treehouse shot is definitely one of the more difficult upper flipper shots. Callouts are fun and nostalgic, but some of the music and sounds can become a little repetitive and annoying. Very deep rule set. Few will ever see the wizard modes, but you don't have to have a marathon game to have fun.

WPT is horribly underrated and arguably the best card themed pin. It flows really well and the upper playfield is fun and easier to control play. Love having so many drop targets though the center ones take a beating. Make sure to double up the rubber rings behind them. The rules are straight forward but deep enough to last. Sound, artwork and translight definitely could be better, but it's poker, not a movie or comic. Overall, it's a great game for the price.

Same game play as the CE. Super fantastic game. Out of the box loaded. CE has a little extra bling for 3k more. You can't go wrong with this instant classic! Super fun game that does things no other pin does. Instant classic!

Strike Zone may be the most brutal of Williams' EM designs from the 70's.

The Pros:
DC coils and a wide open PF make every move on this design a dangerous one. The 10 "pin" rollovers in the middle of the playfield mean that this game is more of a shooter than most would give it credit for. The lit inserts by the pins look awesome in a dark arcade. Keep your eye on the ball, because this game is faster than most will be able to keep up with when properly maintained. Christian Marche pointy people mean that people know that box is a pinball game from across the room.

The Cons:
This game may too fast and too random. When modern players complain about a "luck box" this may be the box they are talking about. Wide open and outwardly angled outlanes are HUNGRY!

The Takeaway:
Ops must have loved this game. Low purchase cost, short ball times and a full cash box... for at least a few plays from the kids. Then players said, this game is too tough and went on to play a Snow Queen/Derby to make their dimes and quarters last.. However... if you can keep up with it, there is crazy game to be had in there.

Neptune is one of those low production games that collectors seem to go bananas for.

The Pros:
The art pax is decent.

The Cons:
This game has a crummy layout by John Osborne. Once the ball drops below the top lanes, it never really goes back up there. There are only 3 direct shots in this game. Two satandups (good typo) and 1 saucer on the lower right hand side of the PF. Everything else on this table is an indirect shot. What kind of a pinball table requires indirect shots and nudging skills to be paramount. I'll tell you what kind of a pinball table does that... a bingo. Fake SS #'s on EM score reels are a joke, that wears of really quickly.

The Takeaway:
Only for collectors who look for rare games with low production #'s. Players and people who appreciate pinball as a game will walk on by this after they played it once. If you absolutely have to get a low production Gottlieb game from this era look into Centigrade 37 (and that game is no great shakes to play either).

Update:
I got to play a better version of this game than before. Yes, I know, the difference is in the details and this one was much better setup. Lots of nudging, lots of skill. More fun that I gave it credit for. The collectors will scream for it due to rarity. AAB is better (Neptune) just like most Gott wedgies. Not a great game to play. Not a bad one either.

Ted Zale has given us another glimpse into his genius. Read on cadets!

The Pros:
For a game that looks so sparse, there is quite a bit to do. Look at the PF nipple tic-tac rollovers and in combination with the mushrooms, you have a complete spectrum of shots to make across the board. Getting the silver ball to orbit the blast off around the earth is a brilliant example of Mr. Zale bringing the space race through sputnik to our pinball enjoyment. The Super-duper skill shot from the top will keep you nudging all day long. You'd better hit that red mushroom ASAP and stay away from the yellow mushrooms at all costs! Kind of simple, never, never, never easy. The artwork is Jerry Kelly doing his best minimalist angular art package to give the player the illusion that they are floating in the universe. Even the paper airplane graphics on the side of the cab look just right. I love watching the satellite make an orbit around Mama Earth. Find one and play it all day long. Always a challenge, never boring. Sign of a brilliant pinball design. Collect that cosmos and orbit the earth!

The Cons:
I don't own one. I am willing to take donations to the pinball cause though.

The Takeaway:
OK guys... here's another reason why this game is genius... I tell you GENIUS! There is no sound on this game... because there is NO SOUND IN OUTER SPACE!

GENIUS!

I bow down to the greatness of the Zale. Come join me and... bow down to the greatness of the Zale!

I said bow damnit!

I know this is a rambling review, but looking into the vaults Jerry Kelly was the man who started the whole cut-paper pointy people look starting with A-Go-Go in 1966. Christian Marche didn't start to point with his people until 1968. Righteous Jerry Kelly! Find one with a black cabinet if you can!

Fore is a low production game from Bally.

The Pros:
There are two ways to play this game. One, the upper arch targets add "yardage" to your game. Two, hitting the skill shot from the top arch and the teeny tiny chicklet rollover targets. to get to 9 holes and light the 5k targets at the standups on the lower playfield. The Doug Christensen artwork is all about the hot pants. The backglass artwork is very different and graphical in design. Quite the contrast to the detailed and sexual craft that Mad Dog brings to this pinball game.

The Cons:
This game is DEADLY. Nowhere to hide. If that center post isn't up, the outlanes are still gonna getcha.

The Takeaway:
When balanced and adjusted properly, this game is a true player. IF not, the game will most likely be too hard to play. Find one if you can and enjoy!

Pool Champion is the game that 9 ball wishes it was.

The Pros:
An incredible selection of shots up and down the entire playfield. Zacc robo-targets hide standups behind them. I have never seen an inverted flipper as a diverter. Pops and drops in the middle mean that if you miss your shots, or even if you hit your shots, you are in danger as the ball screams around the playfield in all directions.

The Cons:
It's a Zacc, so parts, and information may require a translator, if you can find it.

The Takeaway:
Pencil thin moustaches and diamond rings never go out of style. You know he's not gonna ash on the felt! Find a copy of this game and play it, because it's a player. Between this and Zankor... awesome games!

Zankor is my favorite Zaccaria game. Yes, even better than Locomotion.

The Pros:
Crazy shots all over the playfield. The ball shoots UP the playfield from the plunge and the top skill lanes. Upward facing sling bumpers keep the ball moving up and to the sides of the playfield. Drop targets, standups and well placed lanes make this game a pleasure to shoot. High chaos in the left hand inlane/outlane area makes different choices happen in an area that most people consider predictable. Shooting the left ramp to raise the ramp to the far left allows you to pop your enemy in the zankface!

The Cons:
The skill targets on the top of the upper playfield have little value. Lots of action in the spider pops can shoot the ball straight into the left hand inlane with some consistency. Not much of a chance to save it when it happens. The backglass artwork is muddier than most Zacc games. Does it work? Can you find parts? Can you read italian schematics and manuals?

The Takeaway:
A brilliant shooter that has a layout with original shots, inlanes and outlanes. This game has lots of play in it. Find one and enjoy it when you can!

Played at southern fried expo. Knew I wanted one, best upper playfield hands down. Also best ways to use a middle button. Such creative code without needing a phd to figure rules out. I am however pissed at spooky for making looney tunes, I have no more space damn it!
