A friend went to this yesterday. Mega death in Irvine.
I've been to a couple of outdoor concerts in large open settings. Tonight I'm going to my first show that is in a small club type venue. I'm a little nervous but I'm still looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun.

Who ya seeing?
Chris
Quoted from bobukcat:We're packing up and catching a flight to Seattle (not going anywhere near downtown if I can help it) to pick up a camper van and head to DMB Gorge (affectionility called Labor Dave) Weekend, gonna hit some other smaller places to camp before we head back home next week since we did Ranier last time. We're SO excited and happy they didn't cancel this thing!!
Mixed feelings about the weekend, Carter (the drummer and heart of the band) and Stefan the bass player are out with COVID exposure but thankfully they didn't cancel and have played two seats of Dave solo, Dave and Tim and ensembles from openers, etc. Buddy is doing a pretty good job on the drums but of course he's not Carter Beauford. Looking forward to what they have in store for us tonight.

Chris
We went to see Bayside, Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights at Franklin Music Hall (used to be called The Electric Factory)
Went to XPN music festival last weekend. 3 days, outside, had to *prove* vax status, and with a respectful crowd you would expect to find from member supported radio station. Not bad at all.
Seeing Marcus King Tuesday at The Queen in Wilmington. Will be my first indoor show since Jan 2020. Saw him at the TLA two years ago and honestly didn't think they could stuff another person into a 1000 capacity venue so curious how this goes.
Glad I caught two Priest shows the first week of their tour. Guitarist Faulkner - youngest guy in the band - suffered a heart attack during Sunday’s show, had serious heart surgery, and the tour is postponed indefinitely.
See these bands while you can folks!!
Get well soon Ritchie

Quoted from HFK:Last Monday the wife took me to see Hall & Oates. They were good but the opening act absolutely killed it.[quoted image]
Squeeze was the opening band?! I thought they would have been a headliner.
Chris

Chris
They should have been. After the high energy of Squeeze Hall and Oates just couldn't match them. Obviously it came down to who sold more records in America and unfortunately Squeeze can't sell in the states like H&O.
Starting next month over in England Squeeze is on tour with Madness, really wish this show would come over here.

That show should be "One Step Beyond"!
Chris!
I missed 2 Tool shows last year. So, next year I'm seeing them 4 times in 3 states lol. I've Primus live twice and the last time was a 3D show thing they were doing with glasses. It was amazing... and the "fungus" helped lol.
Quoted from Azmodeus:Tonight its primus doing rush.
[quoted image]
My kid scored one of the set setlists on Friday. It was his 1st Primus show.
I was at Rage Against the Machine 2 weeks ago, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers the other day. Both shows were great.
I’ve noticed at the shows I’ve recently attended ( 750< Capacity ) have not been sell outs. I’m curious to hear if it’s just here in New England or other areas? It appears that the large national and international acts are sellouts? Pent up demand or stay away because of the virus? Comments welcome. Thanks.

All the shows I've been to (with the exception of a local cover band) since shows have started back up have been full.
Shinedown, Imagine Dragons, Disturbed, MercyMe - all full arenas. Most of the bands I like don't play venues under 750 but damn I wish they did!
Chris
Thanks. Arena shows seem to be doing very well. I noticed that Boston Pavilion had tons of tickets for Joe Bonamassa and Elvis Costello. We are clearly talking about older audiences than the previous post. It could be a regional thing. Hopefully more will post and share their experiences.

Seems to me like shows in NYC (of course, a very large market) are selling pretty well. They just aren't selling well in advance - lots more walk ups, and day of show/week buys I think. Roger Waters has two shows coming up at the end of the month and original (Ticketmaster) prices have been steadily slashed from the $250 they have been since they went on sale in 2019 (and I bought them lol) to the $150 that they are selling for today. Plenty of great seats available for that price. But, come show time, I expect the Garden to be / look pretty full.
Some other shows I'm going to are selliing similarly slowly and will get price cuts, but again, I don't expect any cancellations and come showtime there will be plenty of people there.
Shows I've been to:
a few club shows with decent crowds
Priest in Reading PA arena (half full)
Priest in Jersey arena (probably half full)
Ghost in jersey arena (better than half, young crowd)
Stones in Amsterdam soccer stadium (packed)
four day metal festival in Belgium (sold out, probably 70,000 or so a day)
Shows I'm planning on going to/going to over next couple of months:
Rammstien in Jersey (selling ok for a football stadium)
Priest on Long Island (selling poorly)
Scorps on Long Island (selling a little better than poorly)
Roxy Music at MSG (selling mediocre, ridiculous prices which will come down)
Roger Waters at MSG (mediocre)
Ghost on Long Island (haven't checked)
some metal club shows (no idea)
Maybe Maiden in Jersey (selling ok - game time decision, saw them a couple months ago in Belgium and they kind of sucked)
Thanks Levi. Those are some big shows. Great info. Roxy would be a great show but as you stated the pricing is crazy. I did not realize how popular Rammstein is. I know they are playing Gillette stadium as well. Maybe the market is a little soft.

These are huge stadiums so you'll expect some empties. They are advertising NJ like crazy but if you look at the map it's pretty well sold.
I spent $600 on my Roxy Ticket. I know that's stupid. But I'm going by myself (don't need to buy babe a ticket), and it's second row center aisle, and I'm certainly never going to see them again so fuck it.
I do expect a fire sale on most seats next month.

It seems metal is not as crazy in the US as it is in Europe. From what I have seen, they love it over there and surely Priest would always be packed.
Rammstein in NJ - dang, that one has got to be great!
Hey Levi…..I’ll buy you a beer next time we are at a show. Talk pinball and concerts. I saw a lot back in the day at MSG. I’m a few years older than you. ( I’m being kind to myself ) lol
I just saw Bush, Breaking Benjamin, and Alice in Chains. Had a great time. Can't wait to see Alice in Chains again.
Quoted from finman2000:I just saw Bush, Breaking Benjamin, and Alice in Chains. Had a great time. Can't wait to see Alice in Chains again.
Seeing that in Oct. at Great Woods.
Saw the ABBA show in London this week. Not exactly a real concert but pretty damn close. A spectacle that must be seen to be believed!
Like I always say, gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight!
Very innovative production, and the “arena” reminds me of those temp villages that come up for festivals. Clearly built so it can be taken on tour.
Priest coming up in a few weeks.
Roxy music a couple weeks ago. Awesome show. Bryan ferry still a great singer, he’s working with what he’s got in his dotage.
Lastly I got the Scorps for ya on Long Island. Another killer show from the old German pros!
We were in front row and I hammed it up for the cameras which was a ball.
Klaus photobombed us which was hilarious.

Nice photos! Particularly like your friend's Therion shirt -
Rudy is looking more and more like his brother every single day, it is funny. Seems to piss Michael off, too, which is even funnier!

So many of these old rockers
Are turning into bitchy old hens.
Last I heard mike Schenker was whining that Rudy gets all the credit for playing Flying Vs first when I. Fact it was he who unleashed the V upon the world.
Which of course got KK downing to weigh in…
That’s nyc/Colorado pinball legend ZEN with the Thieron shirt !

LOL. Albert King and Lonnie Mack were playing Flying Vs long before those guys.

don't know if the one in the photo is original, but those Korina Vs (and Explorers) came out in the FIFTIES! Just like Eddie didn't invent fretboard tapping, but everybody thinks he did -

Michael Schenker has kinda always fit into that category lol!
Levi: is that you on the Jumbotron?
Again, May thanks for posting all those pictures.
Still unclear what that ABBA thing is? Concert? Band Immersion? Pop up crap tent? What?
It’s been a summer filled with kick ass concerts for me. Kicked off with Testament, followed by Anthrax, followed by the Motley Crue stadium tour, and just last night, Alice Cooper!!! Great times!

Nice! I missed Testament (did you see them with Lombardo?) this year and have always wanted to see Alice. I keep being out of town when Thrax comes through, but it will happen soon!

Yeah that’s me lol - during rock you like a hurricane. I got that screen shot from YouTube.
The abba thing is kind of a “virtual concert” - not a cheesy “hologram,” but it’s hard to describe. Like a broadway show photos are not allowed and it being London everybody including
Myself behaved ourselves.
There’s a live band and a huge wrap around 90 billion K screen and the ILM created Abbatars….I know it sounds ridiculous but they did an amazing job and it somehow all seems really classy. It takes a number of detours to change things up and the whole Thing is kept pretty interesting.
When “fake abba” makes their entrance it really is shocking. The screen is mixed with so many elements, lights, and FX your brain really has trouble Figuring out what’s real and what’s illusion. Lots of fun!
I mean you have to like ABBA of course but I have to tell you there will be countless rip offs of what they are doing at some point.
It’s called the “abba voyage” show if you want to look around for what it is, but it really needs to be experienced to be believed!
Quoted from zombywoof:Here's a shot of sound check before The Del McCoury Band played at New Realm Brewery.
[quoted image]
Del ,Ronnie and Robbie are all amazing musicians! They have played a close friends thanksgiving party a few times over the years. Very cool to see them play in a small ranch homes family room!
