A friend went to this yesterday. Mega death in Irvine.
I've been to a couple of outdoor concerts in large open settings. Tonight I'm going to my first show that is in a small club type venue. I'm a little nervous but I'm still looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun.
Quoted from bobukcat:
We're packing up and catching a flight to Seattle (not going anywhere near downtown if I can help it) to pick up a camper van and head to DMB Gorge (affectionility called Labor Dave) Weekend, gonna hit some other smaller places to camp before we head back home next week since we did Ranier last time. We're SO excited and happy they didn't cancel this thing!!
Mixed feelings about the weekend, Carter (the drummer and heart of the band) and Stefan the bass player are out with COVID exposure but thankfully they didn't cancel and have played two seats of Dave solo, Dave and Tim and ensembles from openers, etc. Buddy is doing a pretty good job on the drums but of course he's not Carter Beauford. Looking forward to what they have in store for us tonight.
Went to XPN music festival last weekend. 3 days, outside, had to *prove* vax status, and with a respectful crowd you would expect to find from member supported radio station. Not bad at all.
Seeing Marcus King Tuesday at The Queen in Wilmington. Will be my first indoor show since Jan 2020. Saw him at the TLA two years ago and honestly didn't think they could stuff another person into a 1000 capacity venue so curious how this goes.
Glad I caught two Priest shows the first week of their tour. Guitarist Faulkner - youngest guy in the band - suffered a heart attack during Sunday’s show, had serious heart surgery, and the tour is postponed indefinitely.
See these bands while you can folks!!
Get well soon Ritchie
Last Monday the wife took me to see Hall & Oates. They were good but the opening act absolutely killed it.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:
Squeeze was the opening band?! I thought they would have been a headliner.
They should have been. After the high energy of Squeeze Hall and Oates just couldn't match them. Obviously it came down to who sold more records in America and unfortunately Squeeze can't sell in the states like H&O.
Starting next month over in England Squeeze is on tour with Madness, really wish this show would come over here.
I missed 2 Tool shows last year. So, next year I'm seeing them 4 times in 3 states lol. I've Primus live twice and the last time was a 3D show thing they were doing with glasses. It was amazing... and the "fungus" helped lol.
