If you look at the other two banks of targets (HAD, ELD), all together it spells HADDONFIELD, the location of the movies.

Come on man...I expected you to get that!! So I'll upvote your goober post.
Someone's been following more closely. Good job @lynnindenver.
Went with WAV trigger and FTDI interface. That’ll give me 16 trigger inputs to play with. Jungle Lord puts out 5-7 signals (high and low) to the soundboard inputs, then it toggles one of those inputs low-high-low.
I should be able to get the main theme to switch to the Haunted House track then back to the main theme during game play. I have about 22 audio and voice tracks so far I’m trying to squeeze in there.

For example, I’ve got something like 30 songs, over a dozen standard sound effects and my own dozen more additional sound effects. Sure takes a little work to get it all going (and I realize you might be under pressure), but this made my KISS machine something special.
Sure, I’d have to review my notes for details, but you might be interested.

Does WAV trigger use a folder system to store sound clips? For example, when trigger #1 is hit it points to folder which has multiple sound clips in it and then randomly picks one of them to play? It it can do that then you'd have lots of variety with your sound mix.
So if you wanted a scream sound effect with a particular switch hit you could put 30 different screams in the folder assigned to that switch so it wouldn't be the same scream every time it's hit.

I reviewed my notes to see if you were the Jeff I was talking to about this and yep
My Kiss machine was sold as a project to provide funds to buy my otherwise-too-expensive Monster Bash so I never added the wav trigger to mine. (The game was really hosed, the guy that owned it before me sprayed wd40 on everything to try and get it working.... plus several other issues made it a not-worth-it project for me).
I'm the one helping Colson with his sound stuff, and we might ping you for ideas on the interface. I have in my notes that you have an arduino as the go between is that still correct? We were hoping with this one to just trigger off the existing signals directly, and hopefully the wav trigger config software will let us do this. If not, glue logic in the arduino might be what has to happen.

Awesome. Thanks for all the info. Sounds like I might be able to put a lot more than I thought into this. I’m a musician and I’ve played with various audio programs before, and I’ve done some custom Pinsound mixes using Audacity.
I may reach out to you with a few questions as I get it moving along. Then I saw Scott post above, and he’s helping me out with this. Appreciate all the input.

Yup. That’s what Scott and I were figuring. We should be able to assign multiple sounds to each trigger so it can play them randomly. That’s how it seems to be in the original software as it flows to the soundboard. Obviously there wasn’t much in Jungle Lord though, with very limited speech and sound.
There's only a couple of random variants in that era WMS sound board - and the sound board itself decides on them. So that's already working for us there, same trigger from mpu, so the wav trigger will react to that trigger in the random way (or maybe psudeo random way?)
One thing that might need to be looked at is that the background sound ramping in the game will repeat the background trigger each time it wants to increase it - which might wreak havoc with the wav trigger's inputs, like making it restart the background everytime..... might have to hack the rom for that.

Michael Myers approves Michael Myers coming to York!
mike-myers-thumbs-up.gifQuoted from phillyfan64:Did you make it there? I didn’t see it Friday.
Hey all...sorry about the delay. Sadly I didn't finish it in time for York. My younger sister was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year, and has been declining more quickly than we thought. Went to a neuro appt with her on 9/22, and was told she only has a 2-3 year prognosis. Hasn't been an easy time, and haven't really touched anything pinball related since then. Been busy trying to get her in with some other specialists, and enrolled in some drug trials.
I only went to the York Show for a few hours on Saturday with my buddy Dave. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to catch up with many people at all by the time we left.
Ironically, I finally started to tinker again today to try to get my mind off everything else. And decided to check in on Pinside for the first time in a while. Came here first.
I'll certainly have the game at Pinfest in May, and maybe somewhere else sooner.
Quoted from Atari_Daze:The wife is out of town, I'm watching the original inspiration for this magnificent thing, any updates you can give us Colsond3 ?
I hear you George. I just watched the first two movies again last night, and that made me think about hitting the basement and diving back in today.
Although I did piggyback Halloween III last night, and that movie still feels out of place to me. Despite reading a ton about it in the past, still always weird to me that they took that angle and the subject matter.

Thanks brother. Certainly much appreciated.
And I gotta say, even despite watching Halloween III probably 25 times in my life, I never noticed the flash of Michael on the TV in the beginning when the guy’s sitting in the gas station. I had to freeze that shit. Haha. Freaky.

I’m sorry I missed this thread, your build looks fantastic! The playfield is incredible.
I watched Halloween III last night and I missed that too. Such a good flick.

Much appreciated. Sometimes life is what it is. Not much we can do about it. Thanks for the sentiment, and for the people that reached out via PM. A lot of good folks on here still.
Now to get the boards installed and get back on track here. Have to switch out the ROMs first.
Remaining caps replaced on PSB and boards are in. So nice to have these Kohout boards and not have to play with that 40 pin interconnect.
Still have to finish modifying the power supply, but I actually might just throw a repro PSB in.

Well if it's ready by April 11'th you can bring it to the homebrew room at the Pintastic show. Our show now has a dedicated room showcasing homebrew games. It was a big hit at this years shown and should have more games at next year's show in April.
Sister has deteriorated very quickly from ALS, so I haven’t been doing anything pinball for a while. Jumped back on Hallo this week though.
So the MPU driver combo had an issue and the game wouldn’t boot. Turns out it was a damaged trace underneath one of the ROM chips.
Lesson learned is buy new boards directly, and not secondhand from somebody that has used them for testing, even if they are represented as “new”. Especially for what these boards cost. Now the MPU has a jumper.
Shout out to Jeff Kohout for helping troubleshoot, and hooking me up with quick repair and shipping.

A few bulbs out and switches that need to be tweaked, but not bad considering I reassembled it while the game was non-working.
A little work left, but she’ll be ready for PinFest.

Great job and I hope that it makes it to Texas Pinball one year, I might get to see it in person.
Quick video walk around with the game booted. So exciting as I flipped the first game on this thing...even if only to test and get a feel for what needs attention.
Video I uploaded last night was total crap resolution for some reason, so I deleted from YT and refilmed. Post is on the next page.

Haha. Two months would have been fantastical. But not realistic in my position, and sprinkling in intervening issues that have popped up.
I definitely see why most people that do builds resort to Photoshop and cabinet/playfield decals and overlays (ie. stickers). Those are much faster and you can throw something together in 5-6 hours. But I went with straight airbrushing so it would be a great piece of art as well, and not cartoony looking figures. Franny hooked me up, but it was a ton of prepping, painting, clearing, buffing, etc., and I had to do it on his schedule.
Either way, 5 years feels ridiculous even for me. So thanks for following. I should be able to get it down to TPF either this year or next year. Would be great to give everyone who has followed along a chance to throw a few games on it.

This is so bad ass Colson. So excited to see this at Allentown. Congratulations, this is awesome.
Is that the song from Lost Boys “I still believe” playing in the background?

Haha..yup. I dork out on occasion. Classic movie. Met the whole cast at Monster Mania last year. Well…obviously minus Corey Haim and Brooke McCarter.
