Quoted from mrgone:

are the toys any bigger than on Cactus Canyon or Champion Pub? every time stern comes out with a new game and gives us pinheads what we ask for we trash it before anyone has seen it in the flesh and or played it. after playing ac/dc i was amazed. the game is amazing. if x men is anything near as good its gonna be awesome.

I couldn't agree more with all of this!

I think this looks great (all of them). I am particularly pleased with the Magneto version, which makes me happy, since that is the one that I wanted before even seeing the pics.

The toys are large and look like they came from a comic or something. Imagine that.

The art on all cabinets are great, not sure why so many people like the Pro art the best though? Again, I prefer the Magneto version, but not by a lot.

Very pleased overall, definitely in for the Magneto LE as my first NIB pin!

Quoted from Snowdale:

My guess is after you lock three balls you shoot for the captive locks. After hitting the active ball with your fourth ball the magnet activated on the spinner mech. Spinner mech raises up revealing the slots for the captive balls. The captive balls drop out one by one. Spinner will spin to load the three balls all the while the fourth ball is still on top. Now if this multi ball sequence starts with one ball on top and three loaded down low, releasing all balls while spinning..... This will be the SHIT!!!!!!!!!!

Bam! That makes sense, and that alone would prevent me from even considering a pro over the LE!

I'm stoked about this pin still. Too bad there seem to be many who are so disappointed. I don't really understand why. Well, other than the amount of hype surrounding this one and knowing that it could never live up to that kind of hype.

Quoted from Eskaybee:

What were you guys expecting? The game looks like it just came out of a comic book and looks freakin sweet cause of it!!

But dude, I didn't think the toys would look like they came out of a comic book too! That's going too far!

True that sounds like a cool feature but, is it a 2k cool feature? Especially when you consider that to many, including myself, the pro cab art looks better. I think seeing the gameplay is going to be required to make a sound decision here.

Personally don't understand why so many of you prefer the art on the pro (I prefer both of the LE's over the pro) but that is a personal opinion (and looks like I'm in the minority). But, regardless, I would point out that 1) you don't play the cabinet art 2) if you have your pins lined up next to each other like most of us do, you don't see much of it anyway.

Not saying that cab art doesn't matter, clearly it does.....just not to the detriment of giving up a lot of other features to get it.

Quoted from gambit3113:

The Stargate thing comes from one person on RGP making a comparison. This game is obviously not like SG. There are only so many shots on a pinball PF. The comparison is pretty dumb, actually.

And why are people so worried about wear on these pop ups, but I have never heard anyone concerned about the same thing on MM playfields? How is it any different? They put Mylar around MM troll holes, and they will surely do the same here.

And how is the moving ramp a concern for wear, exactly?

I have never seen so much unwarranted concern for non issues in my life.

I will +1000 this post too!

In fact, I was having this exact conversation with Eskaybee earlier today, and said pretty much the same thing!

It's probably pretty much every bit as $2k cool as any other LE vs Pro model Stern has released if not more so. We will see.

These comparisons of shot layouts with older games is really getting old. There's no point to it.

#326 11 years ago

^ But wasn't all of that expected before pics were released?

Just like Decepticon vs Autobot LE's.

I still say that the art for the characters that are there looks better on the LE's. YMMV

Quoted from Rarehero:

Ramp - Normally the ball goes from the right ramp to the right flipper, setting up a shot to the scoop, pops, Wolverine, etc. I'm assuming there will be a mode or something that activates the Iceman ramp, which will then take the ball to the left flipper setting up different combo shots from that ramp...you can go back to the ramp, or to Magneto lock, or the Cyclops loop (then to the upper flipper and to the left ramp) ...this game will be combo MADNESS!

Spinning disc - I think it will look really great with lights shooting up through the slits. Look on youtube for Twister's multiball. If that looks cool to you - the balls spinning around like a tornado and then flying all over...then the LE magna-spinner is for you! The standalone magnet on the Pro will probably still do some tricks, but it won't be as wild.

Quoted from pinball_customs:

I find it kinda interesting myself... I could see the resemblance, but nowhere NEAR Tron vs. Funhouse. That was an embarassingly blatent rip-off (I still prefer and OWN Tron though).

Heh. You actually helped prove my point. There is no point in making these comparisons. Tron plays NOTHING AT ALL LIKE FH.

Not sure if anyone posted a link to the pinballnews article yet:

Quoted from iceman44:

Absolutey NOTHING like it....I like FH better than Tron....

They play so differently I think it's stupid to even compare them to each other.

#395 11 years ago

Ah, so you don't like that blue trim either then?

Quoted from Drano:If I was GS I would do this sooner than later. If this thing plays as good as everyone at Stern says, a vid would go a long way towards squashing much of the bashing these pics are taking.

It seems to me that any of the bashing that was taking place initially has greatly subsided, and most people are still pretty excited about this one.

Sounds and rules: that will make or break this one for the most part (nothing unusual there).

#398 11 years ago
Quoted from Eskaybee:

Honestly I don't like the red or blue trim. Gotta see it in person. Want my blue trim for your TRON LE and I'll take the chrome? ...your good chrome <img src="/bbpress/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pinside/icon_smile.gif" title="">

LOL at my "good" chrome!

I've seen Tron LE's with custom blue trim, and therefore my answer to your offer would be a resounding NO. Too much blue!

My Magneto is going to kick your Wolvie butt!

Quoted from Eskaybee:

Only if it's on 5ball :p

Quoted from Eskaybee:

Um what? I thought they were bash targets. But if what you say is true then that makes a 100% more sense why they're night crawler targets and would be an awesome feature! Fits nightcrawler perfectly.

I would also explain that one large/long subway looking ramp seen in the launch/teaser video.

#463 11 years ago

I looked at the Night Crawler pop ups closer using one of the higher rez pics, and I don't think that the ball will be going in there.

#464 11 years ago
Quoted from copperpot:

Thats the mockup for the iceman ramp IMO. The Batman-Prototype Spinner Disc thing is also MIA in the game.

Yep, I think you are correct.

#504 11 years ago
Quoted from cleland:

Thanks for this mock up, I was thinking of putting a Pro Translite in my Wolverine LE but I really don't like that the "X-Men" title is red on the Translite and yellow on the cabinet. I'm really starting to like the whole Wolverine package the more I absorb all the pictures.

Kevin

I know a lot of people are saying they like the pro translite better than the Backglass on either LE, but I'm not one of those people. I love both Wolverine and Magneto backglasses. And I think they will look even better in person than those pics, which really do nothing to give you the true sense of what a *real backglass* will look like in person.

And for me backglass > translite

I'm with you rob. The more I look at the LE art the more I like it. And with it being mirrored backglass, it'll only make it that much better.
If I am getting the Wolverine LE - there is not way I am putting in a PRO translite..... I like the LE art more and more - the only place it is really lacking is the head decals - I like the pro much better.

Glad to hear that you decided to stay in Mark.
