Quoted from toyotaboy:Stern's greatest profit maker ever, aftermarket clear ramp replacements.. They're going to be selling a ton of them as they break from stray flying balls.
Actually these ones seem to have metal protectors where Tron did not..

Quoted from toyotaboy:No seriously though, love the layout, but could they not do like they did on Simpsons Pinball Party? (thin v-grooved metal ramp). It wouldn't obscure, and it would be strong (and look like wolverine claws).
I think with it moving, you'd have the ball pop off it regularly. About half of the TSPPs I have played on route would have the ball pop off the monorail once in a while, and I can't imagine that a moving ramp would do anything good for that reliability...
Stern have not made choosing easy!
Again if the Pro had same features and LE editions were special blinged out, I would buy the Pro for sure.
Such a shame no spinning magnet on Pro as otherwise would order.
If I go for an LE not even sure which one now. Think the edge goes to Magneto for color combo. But don't like the pop up toys as was expecting MM type.
Like a few others, will sleep on it!
My guess is after you lock three balls you shoot for the captive locks. After hitting the active ball with your fourth ball the magnet activated on the spinner mech. Spinner mech raises up revealing the slots for the captive balls. The captive balls drop out one by one. Spinner will spin to load the three balls all the while the fourth ball is still on top. Now if this multi ball sequence starts with one ball on top and three loaded down low, releasing all balls while spinning..... This will be the SHIT!!!!!!!!!!
Quoted from spfxted:It would be cool if the Magneto figure actually moved so it looks like his hand is causing the ramp to move to the other side.....
Would be sweet, call Stern up, time to scrap the game and redo it all!
Layout: looks very fun and fast.
Cabinet: best art Stern has ever released
Playfield art: definitely a letdown. Lack of cohesion (look at the style of Sabertooth compared to Jugg, obviously just cut n paste from past works) and barren.
Toys/features: hard to say, but looks pretty good. Thought the Magneto toy might have a little more "wow" to it, same with Nightcrawler targets. Right ramp looks different and neat.
I'll be looking forward to playing one!

Do we know for sure it doesn't do this?
If this is really how the spinner works, my decision to keep the LE is made. This would be an awesome way to start multi-ball. Thanks for giving me the vision of this sequence!

That wouldn't make much sense since it's supposed to be Iceman's "ice trail" and all
Quoted from Erik:What do you think the notches are about in the moving ramp? Just for weight savings?
Most likley. Too bad that ramp couldn't be plastic!
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:Lol..... Glad I waited for pic's, Tron 2.0?
does Tron have a big bash toy blocking 30 percent of playfield?
Quoted from Erik:What do you think the notches are about in the moving ramp? Just for weight savings?
that and you can see through it somewhat? I keep worrying about it blocking the view of the upper right flipper as it swings around
Looks pretty cool, but I can say that i'm a little less jealous of everyone who gets one now that the pix are out. Really make me wonder what a JJP X-Men pin would look like...
Quoted from goatdan:Oh, and Gex or anyone -- the LE says 300 Wolvie and 250 Magnie, but the data sheet says 250 of each. Do you know which one is right?
I saw that too 300 is correct.
Here's another example of a playfield with large toys that no one complains about.
I see X-Men being popular in the arcades, and part of that will be due to the toys. I've seen amazing transformations done on the cartoony Monster Bash characters so I'm sure A good artist could also detail out wolverine and that whole issue will cease to exist.
When will we hear about how many modes, multiballs, balls, etc. will be with the game? Do they release that kind of stuff early on?
Quoted from mechslave:Layout: looks very fun and fast.

Ya but cyclops, iceman, and gambit look sweet

Considering the WOZ playfield is just as barren as XM, let's just agree to be disappointed by playfields from both companies from here on out.
Quoted from BriGuy5:
When will we hear about how many modes, multiballs, balls, etc. will be with the game? Do they release that kind of stuff early on?

Looks like a Danger Room mode (could be multiple), 7 Villain modes (inserts near flippers). Looks like a Dark Phoenix mode at the scoop. I imagine you collect the xmen from their respective shots and they light on the big x. Looks like lots of potential for good modes here.
If you look at the pix from the zip file, you can see that the ramp has metal reinforcement where the VUK drops it. That's good news.
Quoted from Pinballer22:I dont remember Magneto every being blue and red. Wasnt he always red and purple??
Yes can someone explain why the Magneto character depicted on the Backglass has red skin and purple 'clothing' (?) -- cape, arm gauntlets, etc. while the figure on the playfield is dressed in blue instead?
I wanted to chalk it up to lighting but I can't buy that. Ideas??
Regarding the LE playfield...
1- notice how the high-res pics showing the LE cabinets are populated with Pro playfields? It makes you wonder just how far along the LE pf development really is. That moving ramp almost looks photo-shopped into the pic.
I have no idea how they'll incorporate that movable ramp into gameplay. Is the ice-guy a villain? Could you imagine the chaos caused by the game randomly diverting the ball (by moving the ramp) after you'd made the ramp, potentially to outwit your otherwise stellar strategy that depended on feeding the right flipper? Too funny.
2- the spinning disk - I'm wondering how much it really will affect the ball movement. In Tron the surface is tacky - rubber-ish. It puts a ton of english on the ball. This spinning disk appears to be clearcoated.
Kind of strange to me that people are bagging on the plastic ramps. I always looked at that as the choice of the designer given the game design and not a cost thing. Do people call Scared Stiff cheap because of the ramps? I think it is awesome. How about CFTBL, WH2O or all the old Pat Lawlor games? To me some games look good with metal and some with plastic. I certainly don't see it as a detractor here. This game looks great to me.
I am not buying one, so I have no horse in this race.
John
To those in the know........
Any idea how soon for some gameplay video as don't think I can decide now without seeing gameplay.
Thanks

Iceman is a good guy. I think it's awesome borgy chose him for this toy. Suits iceman very well!
sorry, I zoomed on the pics, Wolverine does not block as much as I thought, his arms gave me the impression that it was taking up all that room, but his waist only looks like 2" or so. Shot on both sides of Wolverine.
What is under/behind Magneto? does the ball go thru or just lock?
Definately have to see some video. It sure seems like the big pile of plastic wolverine blocks the view of the ramp entrance. And as mentioned...the moving ramp looks photoshopped as do the pop ups. Huge price difference between the Pro and LE too considering the LE does not even have a shaker.
The side by side shots of Xmen next to WOZ certainly are a contrast. Hmmm......
I like the art from the original source comics, better than doing art from a movie based on comics. Would love to see how this plays. The right ramp has got me curious. The figures don't bother me as I am used to seeing some big figures in machines. TOTAN, CC, CP, TSPP, FH all have big figures in them.
Like everything else, I can't wait to play one. That is the biggest part of reviewing any machine. Kind of like reviewing a movie just by the trailer or a car based on a photo and not driving it.
I should swap out the trim between Tron LE and Wolverine LE. Chrome on Wolverine LE would look bad ass and the blue on Tron just fits. Ya baby!
I think the magneto toy lOoks sweet!
Wolverine still to be determined.
Moveable ramp is awesome simply because it's tied to iceman!
Quoted from jackal2001:I should swap out the trim between TRON LE and Wolverine LE. Chrome on Wolverine LE would look bad ass and the blue on Tron just fits. Ya baby!
Dude I think your on to something. Chrome wolverine will look sweet!
Next Question:
Who's in on a BULK order of Shakers if this thing really doesn't come with one??
How about we have Gexchange order like 200 shakers for us??
Quoted from Eskaybee:Dude I think your on to something. Chrome wolverine will look sweet!
Tell me something I don't know.
Ya Wolverine is begging for chrome trim. Too bad Stern abandoned it for powder coat.
If it's the same chrome coating as it was on Tron I'll pass. My Tron LE siderails tarnished where my thumbs sit after 4 months.... Had to get a new set from Stern.
Quoted from BriGuy5:
I'm in for a shaker as long as it supports one.

Cointaker has the pinside discount which brings one from him down to 180.

I had to get a new set from Stern as well. That is why they stopped doing them. It cost more than powder coating and they had too many issues with it.
