This game has some amazing music and oozes cool, however music aside I just didn't have much fun playing it.

Only played a few games on it but it did grab me in the way I hoped. Possibly need more time on it.

A great fun game with lots going on, but not being a fan of G'n'R, the game takes a big hit for me. If you're a fan of G'n'R, then go for it!!

Not a fan of the band and not a fan of the pin. Sure, there are neat modes to play and the pin sounds good but it just doesn't sing (ahem!) with me.

Out of all the games me and my brother have had, this is my favorite that I can keep going back to and playing nonstop. Although i have had higher ranked games such as Voltaire and STTNG, there is just something about this game that beats them all. From the great looks and music to the varied shots, awesome ramps, and bevy of modes and multiballs, this machine easily reaches the top of Data East's collection and, in my opinion, is top ten material of all time. Of course being a die hard GNR fan might affect my opinion, but either way I can't get enough of this machine and it is one of the only ones i can promise that i wont ever want out of the house.

Finally got to log quite a bit of time on one while I was fixing it at my house. I own Tommy, did own JP, and wanted to own GnR...but not as much now. Between those three games, I'd definitely rate GnR the lowest as far as gameplay/rules go. Coolness factor though is off the charts, it just oozes coolness.

Pro's:
great music
modes are pretty decent, doubling the point value shot adds some variety.
shots are pretty decent to hit. Combo's are fun to do.

con's
mechanically, like BF, the game is a disaster. Very poor engineering in several places..balls jumping off ramps or can't make it up, axl light which gets hit by balls, trap door which hits the railing below it, etc
The game starts on the same mode every time just like BF. That wouldn't be an issue except for there's no stacking (like BF), the mode doesn't change while you're playing that mode (like BF), and you can select it from the shooter lane as an option (like BF)
it's pretty easy, not hard at all other than just hitting the mode start hole (BF was much harder)

I also added the pinball pro complete system to this game and I can tell you it makes a significant difference in the sound, highly recommended on this game.

My general feeling is that this game would be great if:
you have 10 or more games
you have guests over a lot
are a casual player

I wouldn't recommend it if:
you don't like GnR the band
you have 5 or less games
you like hard games with lasting challenge

Overall, it would be fun game to own for a while for anyone, may not have the long term holding power but it's definitely worth a try.

One of the very best that Data East has to offer. Great Rock n Roll themed pin!

So far this machine is the one i like to play the most. I am waiting for an Indiana Jones an Adams Family and maybe a Twilight and only after that i will say if this is the one i like the most. For those who like Guns n Roses life myself this machine is great. It doesn´t have more rating for two reasons: One it is a dificult game to understand right away but when you do it´s magnific, Two it is a machine manufactured by Data East and (i dont know why) it does´t have the same value. The sound glue you to this machine, bealive it...

Gameplay is fast and fun with lots to shoot, plenty of variety, great multiballs, and killer music. The match sequence at the end without the family mod on is fantastic. Total rockstar status.
Objectives are a little convoluted at first and the lighting is bad. Ramps can be steep and hard to fully hit if the flippers are weak (common on this game) but if the game is in good condition, you will have a blast on it.

i had always wanted to give this one a try. guns n roses did not strike me as they type to let thier likeness be used in this way. neddless to say very disapointed the flippers were to weak to get up the very steep ramps not that cool toy you were looking for in a pinball. the music the theme the concept is great just not the way you would like it to be.

I liked the flow of this game. The music is great. the one i played could be improved with better speakers. From a DE standpoint, I did not like it better then Tommy but would have no hesitation bring into my collection. I am sure my teenagers would love it

Great music, ramps, changing what game rule you want to do makes it hard to get bored from paying, and the magnet just above the flippers whipping the ball around makes it cool. If I found one where the price is right I would defifnetly buy one.

A fast and fun pin to play. I love the GNR theme it is well executed. It has some challenging shots an a pretty open playfiled. I was surprised at how fun it was to play. The magnet effect was pretty cool.

I owned this gama and traded it with extra money for an AFM. That was years ago ad I still regret it. If I ever find one as good as I owned I will buy despite the price.

Killer pin & Data East's finest. The designers did a great job integrating the theme into the game. The entire experience lets you feel like your on-stage rocking a stadium of GnR fans. The overall visual package nails it (topless groupies on the playfield/dot matrix). Original playfield/translite artwork is beautiful. Awesome gimmicks abound; captive ball mini-playfield, snake pit, & under-playfield magnets during multiball (similar to "The Power" in TAF) . Incredible manual & auto plunger implementation (revolver/rose)! Solid rules & flow with mode selection pre-launch (ala STTNG). The main star is the music. Brian Schmidt, pinball music maestro, takes GnR's tunes from "Appetite for Destruction" & puts them in-game (with Axl's vocals). My only main gripe is the "Gilby Rolls" video mode; isn't fun & doesn't seem to fit in with the game (GnR member runs people over on a motorcycyle; recycled for Harley Davidson). Collectable & extremely sought after! Fetches a high price because of it.

I've owned this for 5 years. Rules are simple,Def. has the G&R theme going all through it. When I first bought it I was hoping it would play like the TFTC, Unfortunately it doesn't. I've noticed when the game is in rotation the people that are attracted to it and play it are not the pin freaks. Guess it's the WOW factor, I dunno. In a nutshell it's a DE machine.
