I've been sitting back just watching this drama play out. I wish them luck, but frankly I am simply not impressed with anything I have seen so far and pretty certain I'm not alone. I'm a hands on guy and mechanically inclined. I have helped my son with pinball development by constructing cabinets and creating a playfield that he could experiment with. I built them a cabinet (BOP model) and a playfield (uh, yeah, its a Fathom) in less than a week, and then another cabinet in just a couple days. I have basic woodworking skills and the necessary tools, but I would not consider myself a craftsman. I know that I could build a pinball machine from the ground up.... although I totally lack any artistic talent. I also know that, for me, building a cabinet and cutting out a playfield is easy compared to the real work that follows. I don't think these guys fully grasp, honestly, the enormity of an undertaking like this and we are miles away from production. I suspect they are learning that quickly. They simply put the cart before the horse was even born.
I hope they do not give up. There are things happening right now in this hobby that are going to make it much easier for an average guy to build a machine. Great things on the horizon with respect to the electronics.
So...show us a working prototype.....October 15th is basically...tomorrow
