Howdy fellow SS owners,

I'm hoping someone in the group is able to help. I've started restoring my Space Shuttle and the existing machine has a speaker in the bottom of the cabinet and one underneath the backglass. I don't think the one beneath the backglass is original (as you can see from the photo) so my question is:

1. Did Space Shuttle come with two speakers?
2. If so, where was the second speaker situated - Please post a photo if you can?

Thanking you in advance

Axel

Quoted from SUPERBEE:

The second speaker does go beneath the backglass.

Thanks - but doesnt look like there is any speaker ports on the wood (similar to the routed vent on my machine)?

Quoted from slgerber:

I believe there were 2 versions. The one I have has a 4x10 in the middle and I think there was one with two 4" rounds speakers in the corners.
edit: Looking at the blue parts manual it list one 6" speaker and one 4"x10" speaker so perhaps it was a mod I seen.

Thanks - that makes sense

If you look at this ebay listing, it is possible that there was two different variations as this is the same as mine:

Quoted from OzPaul:

You have the correct speaker panel, just missing the grille cloth. As per ipdb: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2260&picno=62907&zoom=2
Looks like you can get some from Jaycar https://www.jaycar.com.au/black-speaker-grille-cloth-1-x-1-5m/p/CF2752
Good Space Shuttle club thread here:

Ahh - the old cloth covering the grill trick !!!

Thanks Mate
