Quoted from ChrisS:

The flight from LAX is brutal but the country is so beautiful. Lots of bugs and critters that can kill you.
RD. I'm putting in my request for Dec. looks like we are coming your way at the end of the year again. Either starting our tour or ending it in Aukland. Either way I'm taking a day to come see your collection if your free.
More to come in a couple of months
Chris

Sounds good Chris. Keep me in the loop.

PS as CLG says, nothing dangerous here ... Even the wild animals are pretty laid back.

The surfer from the states might want to bring a raincoat and some warm clothing cause he's gonna get hypothermia living in that thing around here at this time of the year!

It is winter there now. Right Dave.

Sounds like fun!

Damn. Even here if you head out barefoot you better keep an eye out or end up in the hospital. That's just the snakes. When out near the river the "drunk redneck" flourishes here in the states and sometimes can only be warded off with a 12 gauge discharge. You really don't have those? (i just figured, english speaking, beer drinking, close to water=drunk rednecks)

Snakes - no
Spiders - not really
Rednecks - no

Instead of rednecks we have bogans or westies.

However, Australia is the world capital of Bogans, approximately 50% of the population are bogans.

If the stories are to be believed, the scariest thing in NZ is the Mongrel Mob. But they never seem to appear on Police 10-7 so they could be over-exaggerated.

Nah, you never see those guys any more.

In the old days, the two Maori gangs were mostly drinking clubs anyways. I remember going to their "clubhouse" back in the 90s and everyone was so drunk they didn't know who I was, even though I'd known most of them for years. Lol

These days, the more switched on guys are making Meth. So they keep a low profile.

theres even a Bogan St, here, and locals were complaining of lower house values because of it. it aired on a Current Affair here a while back.

#1024 9 years ago

Don't worry Dave we have heaps of Kiwi's over here on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.
There are plenty at work and all I hear during the day is eh Bro instead of hey mate

That Bogan Hunter show is funny. I got asked by Pauly one day at the gym back in 2000 to be on the Pizza show as a security guard with my best mate as we were at the gym every night doing heavy weights. He is a funny guy in person too.

Glad you got the herse back OK. I miss importing new pickup's like I did back in the 90's.

Need to make a nice trailer for hearse guy...

Bitchin trailer!

First up, I want to make a coffin shaped tool box for my tools. With different compartments for the powertools etc.

I'll be able to slide it in, lock it in with the bier pins, and slide out the table when I'm on a job.

Then simply slide it out and remove it when I'm finished. Nice!

Ironically I used to have 2 coffins in my old house. They used to sit under the pool table. But I sold them when we moved.

Sure, who doesn't have two of those tucked away under a biljart ..... ???? ..... WTF??

#1028 9 years ago
Quoted from Thor-NL:

The funny thing, I don't know why I had them. My family used to have a second hand furniture store and we used to get all sorts of stuff. My basement was filled with all sorts of interesting stuff from the 1950s and 1960s that I'd collected. Bakelite radios, containers, old phones, all sorts of crap. It's all sold now.

Don't know why I kept the coffins. I don't like horror movies or anything. I guess they just took my fancy at the time ...

rd.

#1029 9 years ago

Rd,
Did u use the coffins to sleep in during daylight hours?
You know, to hide from the sun.
Do you crave biting people on the neck every so often?
Hey wait. Is rd actually short for rotor dracula?
Do you own a BSD pinball machine, and like the theme, artwork, and sound effects?

Well, I don't like getting up too early ...

And I do my best work at night.

But I run out of puff about midnight so there goes that theory

The final part of the journey unfolded today.

All the pins were unloaded from the hearse. Hey, I've been busy ok!

The hearse backs up right to the games room and the slab table comes right inside the house. Nice!

image-441.jpgimage-441.jpg

So easy to get them on and off the table.

image-141.jpgimage-141.jpg

And, fittingly, Miss Elvira was the first in, so she was the last out.

Going in in Chicago ....

image-829.jpgimage-829.jpg

Coming out in Pukekohe ....

image-527.jpgimage-527.jpg

So I have 3x headless beasts in the room and the fireball set up and running.

If they have 25 beers in one sitting, they wouldn't notice they were sleeping in a coffin.

Punky Meadows. lol. And possibly the inspiration for many hair bands that followed.

"He's a little fond of chiffon in the wrist aray-yay-yay!"

I spent almost two hours enjoying this thread. I finally get to see pics of what the infamous O-din looks like. Dammit I would have specifically flown out to Orange County to hang out for that party and KBF. Ah well! I like my Jack at 95% and 5% Shasta. I spend too much time in the EM forums or I would have discovered this thread 4 months sooner.

Not many miles on it, but I guess they only use it to go to the cemetery and back.

Driving it into town tomorrow to hopefully start the registration process.

Particularly green at the moment ... Good rain last week so the grass has gone crazy.

State Farm insured my drive across the USA. From memory $250 USD for 6 months cover?

In NZ, every company will insure it no problem. It isn't worth much.
