    Of course you do Chris

I like what you did there Chris it is Rons fault we'll blame him for this. I think I will charge him mileage for my next trip out to your place.

    #156 3 years ago

We also have the ball stop kit that looks like yours is missing.

    #158 3 years ago

I mean now we have chroming services on top of it... oh my. Shoot me that price also

    #159 3 years ago

Send me a email with the pics of the pieces you want done.

    #160 3 years ago

I take full responsibility for all of this!

OK, maybe not this one, but I'll harass anyone enough to buy a bowler. These things are just the bee's knees!

As to the chroming, yeah, I'm in the same boat. For now I'll go with my Brasso upgrade, but eventually, when the new paint comes out, I'm going to need something more shiny!

Chris, I "may" be looking for a different color shin guard in the future.

Bill, you keep plugging away buddy. I'm anxious for a video soon!

    #161 3 years ago

Was waiting for some parts to come in and they arrived today so I will jump back in tomorrow. Thanks Tim.

Well I had a few extra minutes last night so I ran down and swapped out those broken coil plates and also put on the new springs for them. Had a few that were "bush" fixed like this one that needed to go by by.

Okay I got her all hooked up I started a game in regulation threw one ball and this is what happened. It just kept cycling through the first ball of the first frame and it wouldn't advance to the second ball in regulation. So what needs to be adjusted?

Bummer Bill. Keep at it though, probably a small fix.

    #170 3 years ago

Going to take Chris's advice and look at the score motor today. Shouldn't be anything big I wouldn't think.

    #171 3 years ago

It seems the 2nd Shot Relay energizes, or is already in the energized position,
or a 2nd Shot Relay switch is closed when suppose to be open after rolling the first ball.
And then the Relay Bank isn't energizing which like Chris said, that switch runs off the
Score Motor's cam and closes then reopens just before the Score Motor comes back to home.
It could possibly also be a dirty closed switch in the Score Control Relay for why the Relay
    Bank's coil is not energizing..

    #172 3 years ago

Alright so i manually turned the score motor checking all switches and also went back over them with a file. I also watched the wiper blade as it turned making sure it wasn't making dual contacts and it wasn't. Here is what it is doing from the front view AFTER doing what I stated above.

    #173 3 years ago

Your Strike /Spare Unit did not reset at the start of the game, that needs to be adjusted first. After you start the game and give it a credit, go look at the bank relay to see that the 1st relay reset all the way or if the switches need to be cleaned or adjusted. The game is scoring because it think the first shot has already been thrown. Also check the 1-10 relay as well. This could be a 2 part fix. Also you can check to see that when you replaced the score motor wipers that they are aligned correctly and that the screws is tight and it did not slip.

    #174 3 years ago

Also, if you manually step up the other players' Strike/Spare Step Up units,
and then start a game, do they also not reset?

    #175 3 years ago

What do I need to adjust when the pins come down and you get a bonk sound and a few of them retract back up into the head? I have that issue going on right now also

    #176 3 years ago

That means the pins are active when you here the coil buzzing. That could be a few things. Start by watching your reset wheel on the pindeck to see that it only makes 1 revolution.

I just adjusted a switch on the reset wheel and it still did it once more in a game. May have to try and really fine tune those switches again.

    #178 3 years ago

Back digging into the score motor. Again!

It's going to be worth it Bill!

I played a quick game tonight after getting the score motor all put back together and it was just 1 game but no pin reset errors. I will play a few games tomorrow and see if the trend continues. Pretty sure a piece of gunk was sticking up the shaft in the score motor cause a small grease ball fell out when I took the cover loose. Fingers crossed that was the problem with the mechanicals and those are solved now.

    #181 3 years ago

Ok so problem has not been fixed. I just got done playing a couple of games in one and two player mode. I played two back-to-back games in one player mode in the first game while loading the seventh frame the pins reset. In the next game I played again in one player mode while loading the pins in the 8th and the 9th I got a reset we're a few pins came back up it still allowed me to take both my shots in every instance. I'm not sure if these white tooth Bow-Tie looking Plastics that hang the pins have anything to do with it or not but I have two of them that are missing teeth and the pin does not retract correctly. You can see in the second picture that the only pin actually needed to complete the frame is the seven and yet the 9, 10 and 6 pin are still staying down they are not retracting properly but I think that is due to those plastic pieces being messed up.

From the picture, it looks like you need some new bow tie gears.

Would those pins staying down and fighting the mechanism to retract possibly cause that pin reset?

    #184 3 years ago

It would cause the buzzing sound

    #186 3 years ago

Back under my pinhood and I took it out of the machine and discovered a couple issues. First of all I have 4 bowties that were stripped out so I started replacing them today. Also the switch stack that rides the pin reset motor was broken and the switch has been bent down to accommodate it so gonna need a new one of these.

Not sure what I have going on also with the 6 pin. It isn't activating no matter if I try it manually or not. Hooked up my voltmeter to it to check resistance and its reading right around 41 with machine powered off and unplugged

A couple small cosmetic projects today heres the 1st. Swapped out the old grungy nicotine discolored plexi and new ball return decal I picked up from Chris at stl-bb.com the other day. Much better!

Okay I am trying to make sense of these pins not lifting when rolling over the rollover switches. If I just hit the 6 it does not go up but it will register that it was hit but then if I have the 1 3 6 and 10 still lit and I hit them all the pins will go up that way. What is going on here? I did go in the back and check the 6-pin relay in the bank and I also checked the number 6 relay in the larger Bank relay so I am a bit confused on this one. I pulled up the lane switches and check them earlier also everything was making contact when it should and wasn't when it wasn't supposed to

    #192 3 years ago

Maybe there is no "6" switch?
No idea, but maybe it can't be left standing in real bowling, so it can't be left here. Similarly, I doubt you could hit the 6 without hitting other pins.

    Just thinking out loud.

    #193 3 years ago

So here are 2 videos of what its doing.

Heres another one showing how different shot gets the 6 pin to not raise.

    #194 3 years ago

So apparently the lane switch determines the lit pins on the lower backglass.

Wish I knew more about this stuff. Guess I should buy another one!

    #195 3 years ago

It appears the #6 Pin Relay in the Reset Bank is energizing, although the #6 pin's not going up.
I'd check the #6 pin set of switches on the pin deck to make sure that they're making good
contact with each other when the pin is down..
Also, you'll want to check the closed switches in the #6 Pin Relay in the Relay Bank when that
relay is in the energized position that they have good contact (and cleaning)..

    #196 3 years ago

Okay I powered up the machine this morning and the 6, 8 and 9 pins automatically engaged and retracted. I came back here 2 the Penn Relay reset Bank oil and the relay Bank reset coil and in both Banks the six eight and nine are tripped.

    #197 3 years ago

Okay A little update I went in to the bank switches and the pin switch Bank and really filed and fine-tuned those switches. I now have the 6 pin working properly. I now have to figure out this pin reset error I got it three times during the course of one game. I'm not sure if it is that pin reset motor switch that is broken it seems like theres something else causing that.

You're referring to when the 2 or 3 pins go back up, right?
It's not the switch on the pin reset motor.. I'm sure the rollovers are
free and not sticking. It has to be those Pin Relays in the Relay
Bank isn't latching. Perhaps the plate(s) are magnetized. The next
time it happens, go in back of the machine and see which Pin Relays
(in the Relay Bank) are in the tripped (energized position..
btw: That pin reset switch is on the way..

Will do it's so sketchy on when it does it. I just played 3 complete games with no problems. Then I ran back down and played a game and it did it in the 5th, 7th and the 9th frame. Thete seems to be absolutely no rhyme or reason as to when it does it or what triggers it. BTW thanks again Tim.
