I dont know if I am the first thinking that Nucore 2.0 should bring up RFM 2.0 or SWEP1 2.0 and not only fix involved in the replacement of the broken cytrix/prims with common i386 based hardware.

People like things such BOP 2.0, CV or CC 2.0 and so on....why not give an option to buy a fresh and new software version of these machines when I have to pay important money and modify hardware also like old nucore require?
Rules, new animations, new dot matrix col..(this maybe not..ehm....no its not needed this time.. ...)
Remove the bundle protection that scares "omg custom hardware people"; People pay 160$ for a crappy speakers upgrade only because its a close to be a plung and play solution, will buy a Nucore 2.0 upgrade if it will worth it (I'll do even if my RFM is working....at the moment )

my noob € 2 cents opinion

Quoted from RoyF:

including those with no parallel port

I think that will be very hard or expansive develop a custom usb2lpt interface when most modern PC can use a PCI Lpt Cards that use standard address/irqs we have from decades; Pin2k driver boards requires some strobing signals from native LPTs ports; Usb to LPT existing hardware only use tx/rx pins to print on old lpt printers.
Btw Linux direct controlls lpt devices so strobing can be fast enought, Windows doesnt because it use its drivers and this create latency.
