BDK is a much simpler pin than everything else you've mentioned in terms of layout and rules. The crane is an awesome toy, but I'm not sure there is much else great worth talking about.
It's definitely fun...but I think it would get old faster than all of the other games you've mentioned.

There are really only 4 modes: the things you start by lighting the batman standups on the left. Each mode is the same, shoot the same few shots (left orbit, joker, center ramp, scarecrow), and that's it.
There are other things to do in the game (lighting all the character inserts in the center of the playfield), but they are tasks...not modes.
It's really all about the two main multiballs.
Also, the reason I have one is because I knew it would do well at my location. I think the 2008-2010 Sterns have the weakest rulesets, while just about everything made before or after that period of time is much more interested and has more staying power at home.

I don't know JP well enough to comment, but it's a lot like TAF, right? I would say TAF has more variety than BDK.
