Just got my JM two days ago, been playing one at our local Pin hangout, and really wanted one for myself.

Shape is pretty good, needs a cleanup, but I am missing a pretty important piece of plastic, namely the "roof" of the left Yakuza ramp.

Could anyone with access to a JM and a scanner possible scan the piece for me? I've found a local lasercutter that can help me cutting the piece, but I need some sort of template for this. (Plus, i'd really like to be able to try and print the decals on a transparency sheet, and glue it so it comes as close to the real deal as possible

Also, how big of a deal is it to clean and oil the hand setup? It is a bit noisy, and i'd like to try and make it a little more silent.

Quoted from ectobar:

You noise issues are most likely your x & y nuts. You can get to them with the hand in the machine, but it's much easier to just take the whole thing out and work on it.

Welcome to the club!

I've ordered the nuts (along with a selection of other bits and pieces), should be arriving in time for next weekend I hope.

About removing the entire hand setup, its not really described in the manual, how difficult is it, as in, how much do I actually have to remove to get it out? (Have anyone done a pic-by-pic on this?)

And thanks, I think i'm going to enjoy it here

Reconditioned and rebuilt both gear boxes this evening. It's a fun machine to work on!

Rebuilt, as in changed motors and gears and everything, or what did you do?

I just planned on cleaning and greasing the gears, if I can get to them without too much hassle (not being overly mechanically inclined, I try to not bite off too much at a time )

As promised, here's my little writeup on rebuilding the hand assembly. It's really not very difficult.

Very very nice writeup, I am getting the last parts I need tomorrow, and then i'll hopefully be able to disassemble, but more importantly, reassemble the hand harness.

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Just wanted to say a great deal of thanks for this post, i've just completed removing and cleaning the hand assembly on my JM, my first big project on any machine, and this post helped give me courage to actually try.

Only little letdown is that a previous owner have used a lot of force on some of the tiny screws, so I could not take the gears apart and clean them. But the hand-rails have been cleaned and regreased, and they run like a dream now.

It is the tiny screws that hold the "windmill" optical blockers (for lack of a better description), that was ruined on both gears.
