I just got mine delivered today. Looks like a pretty sweet Sci Fi themed pin that's begging for LEDs, powdercoating and other shiny mods. Any JM fans out there? I played a few games this afternoon and have to say I'm pretty impressed so far. Does this playfield remind anyone else of Blade Runner?

#2 10 years ago

Nice pickup. I sold my JM to a fellow MN. I put color changer bulbs in some spotlights I added........the gloves and matrix guide (or map). Chrome flippers with blue rubbers.

#3 10 years ago

nice addition. leds make it look nice for sure

did my gi in blue.....

About to put frosted LED's in the backbox of my JM, color changing LED on the glove, and will eventually put them in all of the inserts. It seems like the game has a lot of "slow dim" on and off in the GI with the incandescents so was planning on keeping that as is. Was wondering if you or anyone notices a difference for the worse regarding the lightshow with LEDs in the GI?

#6 10 years ago

I would like to be in this club someday...

#7 10 years ago

Just got done reLEDing the back box with a little color. Man this is the darkest translite I've ever seen. Game is cool but I can't believe not one of the original actors did any of their own voices. Weak. Oh and why the hell is Gilbert Gottfried on the back glass?

#8 10 years ago

I thought the same thing about Gilbert Gottfried! But it's not him. Gotta watch the flick to see that's the main villain...some Japanese guy. But not GG.

Well, why is Michael Jackson on the lower playfield? Was he in the movie? They need to get this shit on Netflix.

#10 10 years ago

originally did super brites in backbox, changed them to frosted regular ones. gi looks great in blue in my opinion, wouldnt change it

#11 10 years ago

I got one. I wouldn't put any LEDs in the playfield, it really doesn't need them. It's already an awesome game as is.

#12 10 years ago

I have one right now on a temporary trade for pinbot. It's a fun game. Fast, as everyone says, and hard to grasp. But once you get going. Man it's great. I get frenzy lit far too often it seems. I think the pops are lighting the spell outs. Anyone else experience this? I thought only the loops lit Johnny and mnemonic.

#13 10 years ago

I'd think that putting LED's in the inserts would make this game virtually unplayable. Any ghosting on an ultra fast playing pin would be a disaster.
Only mods on mine is I made a plastic to cover the end of the glove mech and I swapped the bulbs under the Jones Dolphin to blue.

They don't ghost at all. I was pleased to discover this.

I fixed it. The inner loop switch ground cable had come loose and was grounding against another switch every time it fired. So long to artificially high scores

You have to add spotlights to this game............very dark.

Totally agree, especially if you play with the lights off. A blue LED in the back spotlight looked awesome (gloves were illuminated blue). I think cool white LED spotlights on the slingshots are a must.

I used a couple of PBL color changers in the spotlights.

I can't believe that Williams couldn't even get Ice T to do his own voice. *sadface*

One of my pet peeves about the game too. The actor who 'voiced' Keanu sounds close, but the Ice T voice is not even in the neighborhood.

The Keanu actor does an admirable job of emulating Keanu's..um... 'flat' acting style.

Restored one I got on trade for my SP in the fall. It's dialed in and I have not stopped playing it since. Got to power down mode three times !!! keeper.

Dude, I don't see the resemblance to Michael Jackson at all. LMAO
Three reasons ,this girl has a real nose second, her hairs not on fire and third ,she's not pasty white!

#30 10 years ago

Had my JM for just over a year now. Plays real fast. Definitely agree with the backglass being dark. Probably would have been a little more popular if the movie wouldn't have flopped. Anyone have cabinet side art? Mine has a little fade in the yellow.

Really? How cool. Any pics? Are there any differences between it and the later models?

#32 10 years ago

I have JM, but not sure on what to do.. I wanted to put el wire on the white parts of the gloves or something.... red pill blue pill?

#33 10 years ago

where would one acquire those nifty cabinet decals?

I confirmed with Gomez it is indeed an early sample game they took to shows. It had a few holes drilled in the head for the original prototype topper which they only made like 6 or 8 of (never even seen a pic of one! Super rare).

Everything on it is pretty much the same from what I can tell. It did come shipped wih super early beta Roms and during attract mode it would flash an image that said "Welcome to the 95' AOPA expo" or something like that.

I had John Wart Jr. Send me the newest Roms and sent him back the beta Roms so he could catalog them

look what my JM DMD is doing.

Hey Phet, I think you can change the thread subject now, to just "Johnny Mnemonic Owner's Club".

I got mine a few weeks ago. The glove/matrix assembly is apart on my office floor; I need to get it back into the game. My cab is faded but I have decals for all the red parts. I think it will look pretty nice when I'm done. I have to deal with some raised inserts. Does anyone know if insert decals are available, anyway, anyhow?

#41 10 years ago

This is game is a as good as JD, I love my JM, I also have an F-14 but I think this is a much faster game. what do you guys think about a plastic dolphin toy in the plastic box instead of the picture/decal. I also wondering if the gloves can be painted easily, perhaps adding a slash of color in the back.

#42 10 years ago

Lighting up the gloves is better than painting them, IMHO. Blue LED strip makes mine look great.

1 week later
#43 10 years ago

Finally started adding LED's to the playfield. Also added a blue spotlight that I focused on the stationary hand. I will eventually add another for the 'action' hand. I would have finished the playfield LEDing this weekend, but I forgot to order red super brights with bayonet bases.

Sweet. I am trying to decide on a sleek shade of blue myself.

I need to get some of those decals.
