Trying to chase down an issue and hoping folks might be able to give guidance or take a picture next time someone has their upper flayfield flipped up. The light on my pop bumper has been out. And, the far left round insert on the right side of the upper playfield is also out.
Upon closer inspection, there were two things soldered to the socket bracket for the insert light. (1) a green wire that runs to the pop bumper light and (2) a pair of wires. There was also another pair of wires that was hanging loose that looked like it fit perfectly next to the other pair. I figured this was the source of the problem. The solder broke free and the wires just needed to be resoldered and all would be good again. You'll note that i didn't mention the colors of the two pairs of wires because - here's the embarrassing part - I didn't pay attention to which of the pairs was connected and which were hanging free. (doh!)
The colors of the pairs (you'll see in the pictures below) are:
- White with Black stripe.
- White with Gray and Purple stripe.
As soon as I soldered both together, it blows my GI fuse. So now I'm wondering if all 5 wires (the pop green and two pairs) should actually be soldered to the light socket bracket. When trying to solder one pair of wires to the bracket, the heat will unsolder the pop bumper light. So, you'll notice I just pigtailed an orange wire to the bracket and then connected to the other wires to the pigtail. With my poor soldering skills, that is just a bit easier.
So, can anyone confirm the purpose of each of the pairs? Are these both soldered to the same bracket on your machine? Or do they go someplace else?
I have a manual, but don't see anyplace that seems to show the wire colors and their functions. Thanks in advance for any help.
