I've got a pinsound board on it's way and want to upgrade the speakers and wire them into stereo to take full advantage of the board. After reading through (I think) all the speaker posts on this thread it seems people have mostly used the following speakers for the backbox and cabinet (other than speaker kits - don't want to buy a speaker kit)

Backbox: Pyle PL53BL 5.25-Inch 3-way speakers
Cabinet: PRV Audio 6MB200-4

Are these still the best choices or does anyone have newer/better speaker suggestions?

Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

The PinSound speakers are great, but if you are looking for a lower cost DIY then I suggest you stay away from the Pyle speakers. IMO, for a few bucks more the Kickers are far better quality (what I have in my Stern JP). I had the same Pyle speakers everyone uses before I upgraded, and I could clearly hear the difference (also, the Pyle’s are not flush and don’t look as good IMO).

For the cabinet, I use a Boss CXXX8.

Awesome. Thanks! I'll look at those.

Mr_Tantrum That cabinet speaker is 8" so I guess you used an adaptor as the original is 6" correct?

Agreed. That's what I'd check first as the magnets are prone to blow fuses.
