Quoted from trunchbull:

Maybe there should be an alternate edition for pinsiders, where the guy on the playfield is a woman with her tits out, and the little guy on a stick is a woman with her tits out, and the big statue is still a woman, but she has her tits out. JJP hire me!!!

Totally. Shame Pinball is such a testosterone-fueled hobby. It's embarrassing.

Also, Dialed in looks rad as fuck.

Sounds like a personal vendetta against JJP, as WOZ and TH are light years ahead of Stern's latest offerings.

#78 7 years ago

^^ I really don't know what is "weird, childish and out of place" about Dialed In. And am I missing the Red or Ted or Rudy on the playfield???

#80 7 years ago

Obviously, Jack and Pat effed up by not consulting Pinside before coming up with their theme.

(btw, wasn't everyone hoping for the next game in Pat's disaster series? And then they get exactly what they wanted, but now they don't like it?)

Quoted from rai:

Metallica is 35 years old.
ACDC is 43 years old
Aerosmith 45 years old.
X-Men is 53 years old. Doesn't mean it's a bad theme.
IMO a cell phone is never a good theme. Why not have a pin about Titter or Facebook?

Why not indeed? It draws people who love their cell phones in, which is pretty much everyone not inside the Pinside Echo Chamber.

How are there so many luddites playing pinball out there?

Quoted from RobT:

My heart is truly warmed by the fact that you have decided to return to Pinside after your self imposed (but brief) hiatus, only to pick up right where you left off: non stop slamming of Pinsiders.

Aw Rob, I thought we were buds, what's up with the love? BTW it wasn't self-imposed.

I'n not "non stop slamming pinsiders", but if you don't see the very obvious group think going on among most of you on here, then, as a wiseman once said, "if you have to explain it..."

BTW try to accept some alternate opinions, dude, instead of passive aggressively downvoting what you don't agree with.

#105 7 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

You can have a different opinion (obviously). But my downvotes of your posts are almost always due to your condescending way of saying things. How many times have you made a post making reference to things like "Pinside Group Think" and "Pinside Echo Chamber" or how you can't believe how many "luddites" there are on Pinside?
Come on man, this stuff gets old.

It gets old? 'Cause I know what you mean. It gets old for me too.

Again, I ask you, Rob: is there or is there not quite a bit of Pinside group think going on? I mean, didn't you take a self-imposed vacay from this place a little while ago? And now you're back, defending all things Pinside?

And I'm sorry but Pinside is the one and only place outside of the AARP forums where cell phone technology is frowned upon. We're totally living in the future, why not embrace it?

Quoted from Hazoff:

What? The generation that loves their cell phones and is growing up with facebook/twitter will never embrace pinball, Is it not common knowledge that for the most part no one under 30 years old is going to get into this hobby, maybe virtual pinball will become popular down the road but this is it, might be why prices are going through the roof IMO, pinball as we know it is running on borrowed time. Kids don't go to the arcades like we did and if they do not a lot of pinball going on, thats why we now have barcades, Its nice the JJP is trying to reach out to the younger folk but as you can see with the response to this game just based on title it didn't work and Stern managed to sell 80 15K BM66's which is a 50 years old tv show, wake up and smell the rub A535, I'm aware that i could be very very wrong about this, feel free to rebut.

I see plenty of youngins flailing away at machines when I play, and 90% of my play is on location. I can't say "the response to this title just doesn't work" because, come on, this is Pinside, where everyone has their finger firmly pressed on the pulse of the industry.

Someone posted a thread about "how can we get pinball into D&Bs"? I bet Dialed In will make that happen.

Quoted from RobT:

Wow, so you did it again. More bashing of Pinside. Can't help yourself, can you?
I took a self imposed vacay from Pinside for reasons that are my own. I did not, and do not, repeatedly post about how Pinside sucks because there is so much "Pinside Group Think" or make reference to "Pinside Echo Chamber" or the "Boys Club" (or whatever you called it), "luddites" or comparing Pinside to AARP etc etc.
If Pinside sucks so bad and it get's old to you, why are you here?

Well I'm glad you got beyond your personal reasons to post on Pinside. This place surely is not the same without you.

But unless you're one of the people that I mention... what do you care what I think, or why I post? I post here because I like talking about pinball. Other people (and if we're being honest, I'm referring to you among these other people) have absolutely no qualms saying whatever their opinions are - am I not allowed to do the same? Or do I have to... you know... be a part of some club?

#121 7 years ago

I will repeat: why do you care what I say or do, unless you're one of the people I'm referring to?

I'm not going to go around with you anymore. I'm sure i'll be the one getting touched with the banstick if I keep it up.

Quoted from Shastings:

Yep, the Pinside demographic is predominantly old, white, conservative dudes who want to relive their childhood - hence the demand for themes from the 60s-80s. It's the 'play it safe' attitude that leads movie houses to rely on umpteen sequels or reboots rather than try something new and daring that has a higher risk of failure. If we want a new generation to embrace pinball we've got to try new and daring things. Although Dialed In may not quite hit the mark with many, at least it's an attempt to break out of the theme-rut we've been in over the last 15 years. I'd take it any time over 'Funhouse 2' or the Munsters.

Well sir, your friend and mine Rob T. is not going to like what you just said.

Quoted from RobT:

And literally a few minutes later:

That's interesting that he expressed the same opinion I did, but you didn't feel the need to chastise him. It.. it's ALMOST like you have a personal vendetta against me, or something!

BTW warning someone that you're not going to be pleased isn't the same as getting into it with you further. It's also about as useful as letting someone know that water is wet.

You want to know what kids are really into today? Extreme sports and rave parties.

Dude, I'm far from a kid and I love me a good rave, uh, party. PLUR forever!

Take a look at the pic below and tell me that you don't agree.

I don't agree.

#203 7 years ago

At any time I can reach in my pocket and:

make a phone call
send a text
send an email
write a note
take a picture
listen to music
get directions
find pinball machines in my area
post my pinball high scores
play virtual pinball
watch porn*
hail a cab
order food
check stock prices
check the weather

...I just don't understand why people wouldn't love the shit out of this technology! It's not like it's a glow stick or something. It's useful, it comes in handy, and it's awesome.

*your mileage may vary

OMG that was fuggin hilarious. I almost choked on a triscuit laughing.

It wasn't meant to be funny? Calm down dude, we don't all need to like the same things.

Quoted from rai:

Great :bow down: but can you imagine where we would be without the wheel? I'm not saying cell phone - computer - internet is not great but I'd take the wheel over them any day. You'd be walking everywhere or riding a horse or maybe a pogo stick IDK. Just saying because something is useful doesn't mean it's worth of a pinball theme.

boy, a guy likes a cell phone and gets hit with the ol' "well, it's cool.. but it has nothing on the WHEEL" arguement. Wheelguement?

#224 7 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Cell phone users probably cause more highway deaths than drunk drivers do now.

So ban cell phones AND booze, seems so?

And mine wasn't meant to be sarcastic. I know we don't all like the same things. That was why I found it funny. I'm sorry if I offended you.

I don't get it, but okay.

(PS Not to get all pda but you're one of my fave Pinsiders, I'm glad we're not fighting)
