I was on the site just a couple seconds past 11:00 a.m. EST and was able to put the game in my cart. When I went to check out it was sold out. Then it was too late.... I'm glad to hear that someone was actually successful.

In the end, you might be the big winner on this by missing out. 14K after shipping and taxes is beyond insane.

Excellent point! Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoy reading these threads- great points all around.

As a baby boomer, I remember seeing pinballs everywhere in the 1970s and then they kind of disappeared... I went off to school and start a family etc. Really did not pay attention to pinball.

Of course, now that I am a pinball addict of 4 years, I am much more familiar with the history. If Stern had not stuck around during the really tough times in early 2000, none of us would be having any of these discussions.

Stern runs a business and they know that there are lean times as well as boom times. Good and bad times are in the future, but when is unpredictable.

Whatever Stern and the other manufacturers can do to stay afloat (these are not Fortune 500 companies by any means) to keep pinball going is a good thing. Most of us are not business people although we are all consumers.

Yeah, the current market really stinks. Inflation is back and the stock market is taking a crap. Pinball is a great diversion and I hope it survives.

Bond is a killer theme- I hope the game play lives up to all of the hype.

Thanks so much for posting.

Yeah, lighting not the best (we are so accustomed to great streaming out there)- makes the playfield look very bare which it is not.

Stern keeps hitting home runs, even with their "duds".

Munsters- I passed on that and ended buying a heavily routed pro. Look at the premium prices now.

Stranger things - not very impressive early on. I paid a premium for a premium. At least I found one for sale.

Led Zeppelin - not the best out there but in its last run and prices are holding. Great code. Buy one now.

James Bond- from all of the poorly photographed leaks- looks very cool. Theme is killer. No brainer buy in my mind. Even if you dislike it- there are plenty of other buyers out there that will relieve you of your misery.

Mando, AIQ, Rush- all fabulous games- still plentiful and available - will not be the case next year.

I am in my 60s and don't have as long a future in this great hobby as the rest of you. I try to buy or borrow all of the new games- yeah am a very fortunate ROP. I am now labelled a Stern fanboy because I hold onto those- great games with great themes and great code.

Back to Bond- will be one of Stern's most popular and I can't wait to play it-multiple times.

Cheers.

Quoted from snaroff:

I agree with the last sentence, but it seems to contradict your earlier assertion that "You most definitely need ramps to do the theme justice".
It's interesting...BM66 had broad video content from the TV show, but the ramps killed it for me (they felt dull). Shots and flow just seemed clunky...didn't last long in my collection. An example where it covered all the villains and many episodes but just didn't have a fast, flowy feel to it.
Just seems like we all love fast games with flow. Some of GZ's cooler shots & flow have nothing to do with the ramps. If someone can design a fast, flowy game without ramps it's KME. Will be a blast to see what they come up with!
Very cool that you innovated in the area of PF LCD integration. I think it's an interesting domain, since so many of us play alone at home and we rarely benefit from all the wiz bang graphics on the backbox. As you say, it requires clever coordination. I've never played Alien.

I gave this comment an up vote because it is thoughtful and well written. However, I have had the opposite reaction to Batman 66. This was my first game purchase and is still in my collection of 25 pins. The theme integration and gameplay for me are phenomenal. I am a baby boomer and this game just kills it. I get the same vibes from the James Bond game with the 1960s campy humor and filming style. Godzilla and Elvira house of horrors also kill the theme. As far as gameplay, Batman 66 can be clunky, but when your shots are on, it is fabulous. I will admit my favorite shooting game is Godzilla, but again, that is just an opinion. Like everyone else, I look forward to actual gameplay on James Bond. Chances are it will be another winner.

Cheers!

Quoted from Ollulanus:

A fiver for the first guy who legit replaced it with a dildo and posts pics.

Ahhh, crude humor….

But I’m still laughing!

The (dildo) rocket ship had to be intentional. Stern knows their audience.

Quoted from Black_Knight:

That’s not a Stern banner. No stern logo, looks like wrong dimensions.

I have almost every Stern banner. So I was hesitant to buy from another. Yeah I like banners.

So,I bought three banners from this Pinside marketplace banner producer, DiJohn Designs. These are bigger at 4 X 6 feet and the quality is amazing. They also install grommets if you like. Their GNR banner is fantastic- purchased one for son’s birthday- he really likes it. I also bought Mando and GOTG- also outstanding. Vendor communication, response time, and product are top notch.

I just ordered this JB banner- will probably get the Stern one as well, but maybe not.

Full disclosure- I get absolutely no financial kickback from this- I just had such a positive response that I wanted to share.

Cheers!
