    I find some of the 92-94 wpc's feel very dated now. TZ and Adams stick out the most. Early WPC's like funhouse have sounds that are more akin to late system 11's. Adams and TZ are supposed to reproducing actual music / voices and it sounds like garbage. The other is that the DMD animations are quite simple compared to later machines.

    How so? I find it kind of the opposite. DE/Sega/Stern seemed more willing to experiment with different ideas. They cut corners elsewhere and they certainly copied layouts, but they were more experimental with toys.
