At least you can still buy a NeoSD if you still want play Neo Geo

I have the DarkSoft Multi MVS, love it. Flashes 3 games in under 2 minutes and acts like a 3 slot motherboard instantly switches between the 3 assigned games.

What motherboard are you using? I have a 4 slot in my Neo Candy 29, and it's got some glitching issues with my Darksoft MVS.

I have a 1 slot ( MV-1F ) no issues with any games except the known ones from the forum, like KOF98. The game with issues are the ones I don't play, so it doesn't impact me.

Ah yeah, that's what seems like the way to go, if I come across a MV-1F for a reasonable price I'm just gonna swap it into the cab. Here's the Neo Candy:

Jelly, would love to have one of those. Here's my restore thread on my Neogeo:

Nice candy cab. I wish we had those on the east coast!

All my hook ups are on the West Coast, but I know people with cabs in New York, they definitely exist out there.

Cute! Since it’s one player only, do they have some sort of linking capability to support fighting games?

It’s actually two players. Just hook the SNK NEO CD style game pad into the side of it and you are good to go

Cool! Where did you buy and how much?

#113 5 years ago

NM...found and it's a little small for my tastes. Also, several reviews have not been positive. Bad video quality etc. Switch looks better and most of those games are available on it.

I'm in the process of hacking the Neo Geo Mini into a proper portable.

Because of course you are.

I'd buy a proper portable Neo for sure. I think the only thing that ever really disappointed me about the old Nooge hardware was how it was limited to horizontal-screen games only. Vertical shooters just sucked on the thing, alas.

And if anyone thinks Neo carts are big and clunky, I see your Nooge and raise you the size of my big red Taito F3 system ones.

#116 5 years ago

I would like to see it about twice the size so it could support the typical neo geo button layout and support a larger screen.... but then why not just build one using a late single cart mb and a 101 in 1 cart.

I saw some of the reviews as well, bah. I think it’s great, the original Neo CD controllers had clickety response, basically like cherry microswitches, this doesn’t. I don’t mind it at all, the buttons feel great, and there are some great classic Neo games on here that aren’t usually on the multi carts like Crossed Swords and Top Players Golf, which I actually prefer to turf masters.

It’s a fun retro system, It’s a mini arcade cab for chrissake!! I had to buy it. $109 on Amazon with same day delivery for prime members. Controllers are only 25-30 bucks. A steal IMO, especially with the rising price of the Neo X, and obviously the original AES hardware.

Someone on YouTube successfully hacked it about a week ago.

Keep us updated Ben, would love to see what you can make this mini Neo do!!

I'm going to work on it more this weekend. Fairly straightforward and yes it will use microswitches

How can any game be better than Neo Turf Masters? I can't even imagine that.

Just binged both of these episodes. (maybe binge doesn't cover 2 episodes... let's call it watched back to back)

I like the format; the build was incredibly informative. I've been a long time subscriber to the Ben Heck show and now to your personal channel. I still watch the Element 14 show, but it hasn't quite hit it's groove without you.

I'm sure that keeping me entertained isn't actually on your bucket list, but mark it off if it is

If any buddy is selling a neo geo Mvs mini cab let me know thanks.

#122 5 years ago

Yeah those videos were very simple to make. Used a flex arm with a clip on thr end to hold camera. If anything I should make a few more mount points on my bench to allow more angles.

I felt the show was over produced I can understand why a big company would want a clean look but it's overkill for YouTube. Plus they always wanted me on camera when it's what I'm building that'd important. Every second they're showing my face is one less second of information about my build.
