Hello, it is time to part with my TAF and I wanted to ask a little about the machine's value and some of the ways I could handle shipping.

SHIPPING:
I have always bought/sold machines locally in the past so I have never dealt with a shipping company. If you could recommend a shipping company based on experience that would be great. I suspect once I list this, the chances of getting interest locally (especially when I live in RI, the smallest state) are pretty slim.

SCAMS:
I have common sense and I am suspicious by default but since I don't have experience dealing with someone remotely I may need some tips. I wouldn't accept a larger check for "me" to pay the "moving company", I'm aware of that one. Any tips would be appreciated.

VALUE
What is the typical value these days for a working TAF w/topper?
What are the major things that affect value other than the obvious (having a topper, playfield condition especially around the mansion, scratches, fading, etc) for example is TAF worth more with all original parts? I bought a new DMD, not all original boards - how does that impact value?

What about MODS? I have several mods added to mine. I use the gold rom, have some playfield mods, LEDs in some areas, nothing too crazy.. Do the mods increase value or decrease value or is it really more about the eye of the beholder?

Of course I'm talking just ball park stuff here and general ideas but I'd love to hear your thoughts. I want to make sure I price this right and after hearing your advice I will post some pics and perhaps we can nail down a good asking price for mine.

Thanks all in advance

Wow thanks for the quick replies so far you guys are awesomesauce. I took some quick pictures (without even taking the glass off) but I can see that I need to shop her again as she's getting dusty now. I've made sure that I have all the right stuff and have done it a dozen times but thank you for the warnings. I will be cleaning her up before sale for sure. Of course I have a switch to look into now also (Murphy's Law lol) but no big deal.

Anyway you can get a basic idea/ball park of the condition from the pics. Not a perfect specimen but I've always thought a pretty nice example. Mansion area does have some cracks but it hasn't affected gameplay at all. There are some small touches, I changed the color of the buttons and the plunger to match the skeleton in the window of the backglass house.

The worst part about it is the front coin door and a hole in the front that was used for a lockbar when it was in service.

Removed old pictures, see below for updated ones

Wow this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much folks!

I realize now that you guys really need DETAILS and CLOSE UP pics to tell the difference between bronze, silver and gold medals..I took the time to clean her up this afternoon, replaced the rubbers and can give you a better idea of the true condition now with the glass off. The playfield colors are bright and vivid. I think she's a good example.

All pics below were taken today

If I may ask your opinion once again given the additional detail and the cleaning I've done to show the full potential, what are your thoughts now? I agree this is a players condition game. What really matters is your opinion as I trust this forum as an honest and accurate community.

I agree the MODs won't give me too much but since there are quite a few I figured I would list them out.

MOD LIST:
-----------
Uncle Fester in the chair
LED lighted topper
Clear ramp kit (I still have the original fogged ramp also)
Magnet savers to prevent magnet burn
Playfield mods: Bear, Bronze Train, Bronze Knight, Bronze Telephone, Bronze safe
Decals installed on the thing box
Decals installed on the bookcase floor and sides
LED kit for the swamp
LED kit under the safe
Ramp mod for the swamp to prevent ball sticks
Cliffy protectors on all drop holes
Gold ROM

Also has a brand new DMD, used maybe 3 hours total
Brand new coin bucket
I have the original pink manual
Also Addams Family keychain

So what do you think now? Did I change anyone's mind or still the same?
Thanks to the community in advance for helping me

Thanks guys, this gives me a good baseline. I am replacing a thing opto board with a new one right now. Just one switch issue to chase down then she'll be 100%.

#15 6 years ago

As my luck would have it, the opto board wasn't the issue. "UP" opto works fine, "DOWN" opto doesn't register. Maybe a loose wire or something, I've definitely re-seated the connector.

Thing flips works great every time

Just wanted to update this thread that it was just a loose wire on the 7 way opto switch board (not the opto itself). I know a lot of threads don't have a conclusion. Another lesson learned but hey, I've got a new opto switch now too

I've been really putting some time into this pin... I keep ordering new things for it like some kind of addiction.. lol It is really looking even sharper than ever and I look forward to sharing some new pics soon. Stay tuned.

#18 5 years ago

More goodies came I am amazed at how good she cleaned up. I didn't want to keep posting pics over and over so I figured I would wait until she's 100%. I should be there in the next couple days.

Cleaned 'her up.. what do you think?
More pics coming, detailed play-field pics.

Here are the pictures that really matter I tried to give you all really good detail especially in common wear areas. I noticed a screw loose/spot missed here and there which I corrected so just ignore those in the pics O_O.

This game is now freshly shopped and 100% working in every way. No errors. All lights, flashers, coils etc. Even thing flips

In person the game looks excellent. It certainly does have some scars for being her age but overall a nice specimen IMO. I appreciate your honest feedback.
