Monopoly
Stern, 2001I recently traded for a nice Monopoly and had this issue come up three times over the course of 50 games or so. I THINK it happened right after hearing "Lock is lit" each time. It's very intermittent but it seemed software related due to nothing physically happening.
DMD goes off, music loops then eventually stops and the lights are stuck in a flickering loop. Anyone else experience this and know the fix?

If you think it is software related, you can factory reset it to get any of the little gremlins out. If it still happens after that, I would start checking voltages at the CPU to see if your 5 volt is moving around at all.

Weird because it's on 3.03 right now. I'll try a reset first then reseat the board connectors.

Check that. I'm on 3.20 i.e. The bad ROM. Need 3.03. Sent email to Stern. Anyone have a recommendation where to get one and an instructional video so I don't damage removal/installation?
replace all the bridge rectifiers.
Bridge rectifiers on Stern machines will some or all of the following:
- weak flippers
- brown outs / reboots and code freezing
- blown fuses
- sound issues

This is your problem.... The 3.20 code has a bug, the dice roll is always the same and that will make it land on unawardable spaces on the boards, which crashes the machine into the exact symptoms you describe.
Simply turn off machine, remove old rom chip, noting the notch location, and insert new chip with notch in same location, getting all pins in the socket. It's not that hard, you just need to be careful to gt the chip in the socket correct, and to get the notch right (NOT THE LABEL) on the chip.
John Wart, Jr. is probably your best bet to get a ROM if you need one.
