It's no secret pinball is going backwards. With each new licensed theme seemingly getting older and older. And there are buyers lining up for them. Price increase? Who cares! As long as I can have a pinball machine themed after my favorite childhood band or show.

Now that we've reached the mid 60s with Batman, I'm just curious how many more decades backwards they can go and still have people demanding more.

Noone '64 anyone?

Big Band Era.

Mozart - the early years.

I would think that would expose pinball to a whole new generation of fans, and might increase the volume of clientele at your establishment

#4 7 years ago

Not that far back, but I would have a hard time believing there isn't a Perry Mason pinball machine in the works right now. I can never get enough of that show.

The Mozart ones would have to return from the dead. But what the hay. As long as they got money, I'm in.

It was a more popular show than Twilight Zone at the time I believe, and how did that pinball machine work out?

Oh god, another one of these threads o-din. You make me laugh.

Grabbing my popcorn.

This thread:

crazylevisignal (resized).pngcrazylevisignal (resized).png

Context for the above image:

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Odin has this neverending bitch-a-thon about Stern's themes which entertains nobody and contains very little wisdom considering how well Stern is doing amid steadily increasing asking prices. His banal one-man crusade completely ignores the realities of the marketplace, the buyer-base, and in fact Stern's why-the-fuck-should-we-change-course-when-are-having-big-successes business plan. He also tends to cherry pick the "genius" of Williams/Bally's and I guess now DE/Sega's licenses, ignoring the fact they had as many misses as hits. You'll notice he didn't post a picture of Big Guns, Johnny M, and Popeye.
So that's what it means.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Apparently he's drunk. Or was drunk? At best this rambling, incoherent word salad is the result of a hangover.
I think he's just trying to say he likes the themes of old W/B games better than new Sterns? Let's just leave it at that and call it a night.

Some guy's asking for Battlestar Galactica in another thread so why can't I get a Flash Gordon?

Any 50's or 60's themes could be used. Gun Smoke, for a western would be fun. We do not need a 'Father Knows Best'.
It would have to be still popular today. Now a James Dean pin, or Marilyn Monroe, might go ok.

VTTBOTS is my vote....

If any one wants to guess what that is..

We have already had Elvis 1950s
Robin hood, fifteenth century
Black Knight, about the same
Pharaoh, 1000 BC
Caveman, Million years BC

50's Sock Hop! 50's Drive Inn movie.

I would suggest Buddy Holley & Crickets music pin, but thinking that would not fly either.

#27 7 years ago

Honestly surprised this didn't make it as an EM or as a questionable 90's Gottlieb machine. Seems like it would fit in well with the "collect all family members" kind of ruleset.

Mid 60's is the limit for me and thats only because of Star Trek and a few classic cartoons, don't worry O-din you will get that Justin Bieber pin someday really its only been GB's and BM66 why the concern?

#43 7 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

It's the Master Cylinder!

Every time I replace a hot water tank, I place it by the curb and draw the Master Cylinder's face & control knobs on it.

We are allowed to replace them ourselves here, unlike Southern California where they have to be "secured" for an earthquake and can only be installed by a plumber. That's why many SoCal residents buy hot water tanks in Las Vegas and bring them back home.

The 50s haven't seen much love since Elvis and Diner. And I'm not talking about retheming a Corvette.

They sell them at Home Depot, but I have to go to Lowes to get the one that fits. AC units they don't sell.

#47 7 years ago

I think their next hit music pin could be the 1954 sensation, "The Drifters"

With a full color LCD, showing the details of each band member - in high definition - you'll flip your way to hours of fun, with a playfield designed by John Borg, and Lyman on code- you know you will want this.

Premium: $8900
LE: $9900
Super LE: $25,000 (if awarded opportunity to buy)

1939's Gone with the Wind would aptly fit their code update release schedule.

Tomorrow is another day.

#49 7 years ago

"Leave it to Beaver" could have some interesting graphics possibilities.

I vote Cujo for a theme. He puts terror dog to shame.

#50 7 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

The 50s haven't seen much love since Elvis and Diner.

We need a new Elvis with real music and songs spanning his entire career, I need "patch it up" Polk Salad Annie" "Suspicions Minds" etc. While its a shame what happened to the man he never lost it, uh oh I'm getting emotional here.
