    Pretty soon prices will be so high they wont sell enough to cover the cost to design the game. There is a certain level of sales needed to recoup the development costs and it seems like with the already small number of sales per title that soon prices will drive so many way they just won’t sell enough to break even.

    Not sure about that. How much does it cost to make a game? How much is the license? How much to pay the design team for a year to make it? How much are all the custom parts to be designed and prototyped? How much are all the raw materials? Cabinets, Playfields, Side Art, mechs, glass, electronics. How much to pay all the people who assemble it? How much is over head? You need volume to make it work.
