Frankenstein uses the larger and unobtainable 192x64 DMD. Here's the thread on the LED replacement option:

Ah, I see. Those seem more affordable but do you have to run B/W if the game has not been colored yet?
Now with the ColorDMD being released, you should be able to find good used plasma displays.
But in case you want to go with color in the near future,
